It is very rear I am keen to write a review like this, but after my experience with this establishment I feel I am obliged to. As a customer service expert with more than 20 years of experience worldwide, it is hard to be impressed. But the way Mad Hatters team deals with customers, I am honestly more than impressed. Due to the current situation, II called the restaurant in order to place an order for take out. The person who answered the phone was extremely friendly and helpful, very positive, cheerful with the right balance between friendliness and professional attitude. I don't know his name, but it is the second time I spoke with him and he is always kind of makes my day. The food I got from the restaurant is extremely balanced between quality and price (a rare case for the island). The dish was generously delicious. It reminded me of my mother's cooking (and coming from Mediterranean that is definitely very rare to admit). I guess my best friend was nothing but right complimenting chef Ben. When I came to take the food, it was delivered by another sweet team member, who was also very friendly. It was a female this time. Overall I find the team very approachable, customer oriented and the cousin simply amazing. One of the best I tried on the island. I can't wait to both revisit the place well known about its vibes and big collection of hats :). And at the same time to recommend it to all my friends.I am thrilled to share this experience and hopefully more to come with all of the food lovers out there.

Amazing Dinner! Would give 100 stars if possible!

My fiance and I had the most amazing dinner at Mad Hatters in Hamilton, Bermuda. We both decided to order off of the special menu, I had the catch of the day and my fiance ordered the Tenderloin. Both meals were absolutely delicious. The waiter took special care of our order as my fiance has a true shellfish allergy and between the waiter and the chef, they were able to accommodate us and make a fantastic meal. We promise to return for another meal and experience the restaurant when the hats are back on display as in the pre-COVID days.

The shining star of all our dinners in Bermuda!

This place is the perfect atmosphere. It’s cozy and inviting. The room is softly lit and adorned with subtle charm like hats hanging on the walls and the four card suits decorating the swinging kitchen door. The menu featured a long list of specials, which I assume changes often. The chef was happy to answer questions about the food, and our waiter was truly attentive. He was funny and helpful and even ordered us a cab at the end of the meal. As for the food, everything was absolutely delightful. The appetizers were perfectly cooked and flavorful— my favorites were the spicy tomato crab soup and the garlic bread. We ordered extra pickled red cabbage because after one bite we couldn’t get enough! The entrees were just the right portion-size. The Thai green curry blew my socks off!! The best curry sauce I’ve had in as long as I can remember. Another thing, their fried fish is perfect! Great wine and desserts too. You will not be disappointed with anything at Mad Hatter’s. 10/10 I will be back for more!

Sumptuous Food

Food was delicious from our appetizer specially with the Entree’s. Although service was a bit slow and not attentive with only two staff working on a multi skill serving and making the drinks. We still had a good night treating a friend who’s leaving the island.

Pricey but delicious.This restaurant was suggested by a local.

Very intimate restaurant with very good staff. We were directed to the Mad Hatter by someone who heard us discussing dinner plans on the street. The food was very pricey but what we ordered was delicious. I ordered the soup (pumpkin and spice) and the crab cake appetizer which was the best I have ever had. My husband ordered the steak special which again was amazing. The wine selection was also very good. Although pricey we were very pleased with what we chose for food and beverage.

Highly overrated and expensive, even for Bermuda

We went here on the recommendation of a local woman. We had high expectations becuase a passerby chimed in that it was also very good. The downstairs neighbor at our rental said they didn't go often but the portions were huge. Neither turned out to be true. My wife and I both ordered the "Bermuda Triangle" special of local snapper, scallops and shrimp in a curry and butter sauce. There was very little flavor, the 3 scallops were small (20/30 count?) as were the 3 shrimp (21-25 or smaller?). The snapper was thin, narrow and overcooked. The shared potatoes and vegetables were also skimpy. At $152 including 2 glasses of wine ($12 each) and tip we felt ripped off. We had a much better dinner at Portofino around the corner for 2/3 the price.

Creative menu and allergen friendly!

There is always a surprise on the menu thanks to the creative genius of Chef Ben. The front of house staff are very attentive and offer fantastic recommendations. The kitchen is also happy to adapt anything to dietary requirements. As a celiac I can confidently eat here.

We went for a mid week evening meal, as the last night of our stay in Bermuda and it was 100% the right choice. The decor is themed as expected from the restaurant name, all things Alice in Wonderland. The choice of food was very good and the quality of what we ordered was amazing. With portion sizes just right. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. I know the hosts who we stay with will be returning and we hope to return on our next visit to Bermuda.

A Nice Lunch

Mad Hatters has a cozy dining room and also an outside area. Usually because of the heat, most people opt for the more intimate interior. Many of the tables are next to the kitchen window. The kitchen is not nearly distracting as nearby tables with loud talkers. There is a prix-fixe lunch menu - 2 courses for $30 and 3 courses for $38. Food was good and filling; vegetables are served family-style. The wait staff is always moving and efficient. We need to try this place for dinner next time.

Our first time to Bermuda and we were recommended Mad Hatters as a good place for great food. We were not disappointed. The lunch menu gave plenty of options and the Wahoo was exceptional in a dark and stormy glaze. Lovely staff too which helps so much. I’d gladly return for more of what’s on offer there

Wonderful food and service and a GREAT value

We LOVED this place. They accommodated us even though we arrived towards the end of the lunch hours and the service was SO friendly and the food was amazing. I also feel this is the best value of all the restaurants we ate at in Bermuda. Not cheap but great food.

Fresh, delicious, worth the trip!

Arrived on a day when the owner was working on his own, and still managed an excellent fish lunch with no delays. Fish was super fresh and the preparations were delicious. The outdoor seating is very pleasant with a distinct 'island vibe'. Well worth seeking out.

Fantastic!

Went for dinner here, having forgotten about it for many years. So glad we did! Everything about the evening was perfect. The atmosphere is small and cute, although they do have an outdoor covered area as well. The service was excellent and friendly, and the food was fantastic! My husband had a venison chop with duck breast in a blueberry sauce, and I had hog fish and sea scallops in a Pernod cream sauce. Both entrées, as well as our appetizers and dessert, were wonderful! Also, super delicious garlic bread when we arrived. Their menu is limited, but they have so many specials each day, so they can take advantage of fresh ingredients on the island, and keep their food creative. If we lived here, it would be a regular visit, for sure!

Delicious and Fun!

My family and I went here for dinner. It was my first time here and I had a blast. My favorite part was the hats along the wall and we got to wear them. I had on a Stitch hat from Lilo and Stitch, my mom put on a Taxi hat, my dad put on a donkey hat, and my brother put on a real builder hat. The food was delicious, even though the menu is quite limited they have weekly specials and a menu for kids. The staff was super friendly and patient. My Fish and Chip was delicious.

Top food and atmosphere in Hamilton

There were three of us for a dinner out and we were absolutely delighted with our experience. It absolutely lived up to previous reviews. It was January so quite chilly outside so we chose to eat inside. The restaurant is deceptively small as an enormous mirror makes it look twice the size. However the atmosphere is friendly and cosy. The "specials" double the small menu in size. All the food is spectacularly good, but I would particularly praise the saffron risotto with prawns, which was one of the specials. Totally scrumptious. Another must is the garlic bread, which is as good as anything I have had in either the UK or Italy to be honest. We drank a bottle of Californian red from Monterrey which my partner said was remarkably well priced given that this is Bermuda where everything is eyewateringly expensive. all in all it was a delcious dinner - the best we have had in Bermuda.
