The food had no direction. Bavarian sides with mushy seafood? Not a pleasant mix. All the food had the same texture - nursing home chic. The aesthetic is beyond kitschy. The fish tanks in the walls would be cool if they weren't surrounded by a...dingy restaurant. But odder still, odder than the food and the decor, is the behavior of Chef James Rogan, who fancies himself a big city epicurean gracing the island with his boisterous American panache. In reality, this fake Bobby Flay is a narcissistic psychopath - just look at how he responds to TripAdvisor reviews. Also, he can't cook. Chef James, your food is horrible. You need to take several seats in front of a YouTube video that teaches how to get a nice sear on a piece of fish without turning the inside to mush, instead of arguing with TripAdvisor reviewers.More

This restaurant is off the main strip along the coast roads., but it it is actually very close to both Eagle Beach and Palm Beach. We have been dining here for the past 20 years and dine here every time we are in Aruba. They...have a very large aquarium along one wall and a series of smaller ones in the other dining room. The service has always been friendly and helpful. We met the owner a few times and he can make up a really great banga banga shrinmp appetizer that is not too spicy. The Thermidor style dishes are excellent, and the last two years they had shark on the menu which while different was quite delicious. We have taken friends here and thay have all enjoyed it immensely. We will continue to visit every time we are in Aruba.More

Amazing Dining for Everyone! James and the staff were super friendly and treated us like family. The food was amazing, and my sons were so thrilled with the new tastes they got to experience, as well as watching the fish in the fish tanks that...surrounded us. We can't wait to get back to Aruba and dine at the Buccaneer again!More

We really enjoyed our visit. We were recommended to come by others at our resort. I was a little skeptical when I first saw the outside and the interior decor, but it ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. The Chilean sea bass...was probably the best I've had, including at high end seafood restaurants in the U.S. My wife had the seafood delight which was also excellent. The burgers were of surprisingly high quality beef for an island location and the kids loved them. Prices were quite reasonable for the quality of food when compared to the rest of Aruba. The aquariums surrounding the dining rooms are a nice touch. Waitstaff are friendly and attentive. If it's not too busy Chef James will take kids around to the back of the restaurant and show them the herb garden, fish and turtles that are back there. He let our kids feed the fish in the aquariums, which they are still talking about months later. A must visit if you have kids with you and the food was so good I'd go back even with just the two of us!More

Where do I start? Our meals were absolutely amazing. The wait staff went far out of their way to make it an enjoyable experience. The General Manager/Executive Chef , James Rohan, came to our table to greet us and conversed with us for several minutes....He later returned with a complimentary dish called bang bang shrimp which was outstanding. I highly recommend the Land and Sea dish which includes filet mignon, grouper, and shrimp along with sides of rice, mixed vegetables topped with a delicious white sauce, plantains, and a baked crusted cabbage to die for. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our meals. The interior of the restaurant is surrounded with exotic aquariums and skillfully decorated in island artifacts. Highly Recommended.More

On our first trip to Aruba, we have been satisfied but not enough to write a review, until tonight. On a tip from a local while searching for dinner the night before, we looked for and easily found the Buccaneer restaurant. The tipster told us...to ask for James, the head chef, and he would be most accommodating. She was right. He came out of the kitchen to personally greet us, visit about our food likes and dislikes, and then brought us amazing appetizers like oysters Rockefeller and bang-bang Shrimp. Our main course was delicious as well and included pasta, garlic shrimp and seafood paella. The best was the dessert, which the chef personally selected for us and included deep-fried Oreo cheesecake, chocolate mousse pie and peanut butter pie, drizzled with fresh raspberry, dark chocolate sauce and whipped cream, all on a very large platter! Afterwards, Chef invited my 17 year old daughter, 20 year old son, my wife and I plus 2 other people from another table to feed the fish in the 10000 gallon aquarium built into the wall of the restaurant. Incredible food, terrific staff and truly wonderful chef! If you visit Aruba, the Buccaneer is a must to try for seafood, or anything else on their menu.More

Our first day full day in Aruba, we decided to go to the Buccaneer. Firstly, the atmosphere was something I've NEVER seen before. It was like eating inside an aquarium. I felt like I was underwater. Secondly, the service was spectacular. How often does a...chef come to greet you personally and take you into the back to feed the fish and talk to you about the restaurant? We mentioned it was our honeymoon and he even made us a complimentary dessert. We were able to feed the pet turtles and watch the fish. As for the food, it was good. I felt like it was a little over-sauced, and my husband wasn't a fan of the creamed cabbage. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would definitely go back!More
