My friend convinced me to visit this delightful spot for dinner. The food and the service were both impeccable. The menu leans French and totally delicious. The only thing I might add would be a vegetarian selection, but with the level of service and having met one of the owners, my guess is they would go the distance to accommodate special requests. For instance, our wine was accompanied by a small starter, on the house. It was fresh salmon, which unfortunately I can't eat. So our server whisked the starter away without another word, and in a short while returned with one beef and one salmon starter. All with their complements. Our server was exceptional regarding wine recommendations, and brought several out to taste. My companion and I enjoyed three courses, all wonderful, ending with terrific desserts. I've visited other upscale restaurants on the island, either with very high prices or so-so menus. Restaurant Anno 1877 was truly exceptional, and I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

We could not wait to try this restaurant since we were huge fans of Chez Matilde and Le Dome back in the day, and this is a conglomeration if employees from those 2 restaurants. It surely did not disappoint. In the old Cuba’s Cookin location, the restaurant has been brightened up, and is very quaint. Since everything is cooked to order, it did take a while, but was worth it. For appetizers, the French onion soup was incredible!!!! Wish I had some right now as I write this review. A rich sock, pack with onions, and not super salty. Also the cauliflower soup and tuna tartar were enjoyed For entrees the large piece of grouper was perfectly prepared with a light citrus sauce. Steaks were the correct temperature, and the coq au vin was a delicious rich chicken stew with beautiful vegetables. Our party of 9 all loved the food and service, Romolo was well versed in the menu and entertaining. And we were so happy the fantastic chef was able to get out of the kitchen and stop by our table. We will be back.

My wife and I dined here last October when it was just the two of us. We decided to bring our kids this year and they loved it. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. The price is extremely reasonable compared to other fine dining restaurants on the island. The highlight of the night was the head chef/owner came to our table and spent a few minutes talking to the kids about being a chef. They asked her questions and have decided they both want to be chefs when they are older. My son has declared this his new favorite restaurant on the island. We will definitely be back!

This relatively new restaurant in located in an historic Aruban house built in 1877, beautifully decorated with art work and hand-made furniture, seating their guests in spacious rooms with high ceilings and thick walls. The staff persons are sweet, warm and welcoming, full of good humor and stories, so that the atmosphere is relaxed and not stuffy at all. The cuisine is a blend of French and other European dishes and local Aruban cooking, all using sophisticated techniques and high quality ingredients (though the prices are moderate). We loved our meals, especially the fish main courses. The restaurant was not crowded. Although we'd love to keep this hidden gem as a secret for ourselves, we know they'd like to be busier and the owners are trying to get the word out in a quiet way by word of mouth, without mass marketing. Highly recommended!

We went to Anno 1877 twice in February, 2020. Both times the food was amazing. Some of the items we enjoyed over our 2 visits were the escargot, the chef's salad, the cauliflower soup & the spinach soup, the rack of lamb, herb crusted grouper and tournedos au poivre (which was exceptionally tender). Both times we were also served an amuse bouche, which is always a nice touch. Not only is the food excellent but the staff at Anno 1877 couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. Both Henk and Romalo are extremely warm and friendly and knowledgeable!! It's a small restaurant and a reservation is strongly suggested. This is a leisurely paced meal ... if you're in a hurry go somewhere else because at Anno 1877 the food is prepared and served with love! Personally, I don't think this is a restaurant for children as it really is a leisurely meal in a smaller space; and I wouldn't think it was great for large groups either. It's more of an inimate setting. They are also open for weekday lunch, although we only went for dinner.

This fairly new restaurant is now our favorite restaurant on the island. We immediately re-booked after our initial visit. Chef Linda is the Former Chef at the famed Chez Mathilda. What she has created is an intimate laid back fine dining experience! The food is impeccably prepared and served. Not rushed or fast food atmosphere. Don't be in a rush, relax and let the food be prepared the correct way. Their attention to detaila nd taste is top notch. My sister has food allergies and Linda's team attended to her needs splendidly that did not detract from the original flavor or presentation.

This is a fairly new restaurant and it did not disappoint. We started with onion and mushroom soup, both were excellent. 3 of us had the rack of lamb and one had a seafood trio. Everyone was pleased with their meals, the lamb was very tender and presented with a rosemary sauce. For dessert we had a chocolate and a grand mariner souffle, both were very good. A quaint historical building, a very attentive waiter made for a very good meal.

My husband and I had a lovely meal at Anno 1877. The food was delicious. We shared the scallops for appetizer and it was fantastic. The grouper was exceptional and my husband’s rack of lamb was perfectly cooked. We shared the creme brûlée for dessert. All in all a wonderful evening. We will definitely return.

We loved it! The food was amazing, the people who work there are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. The menu is varied and interesting, and we were delighted with all of our choices. Atmosphere is welcoming and unrushed, with plenty of time to relax and enjoy between courses. The blending of flavors is unique and delicious. Can’t wait to return—it’s definitely at the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Aruba!

We had a delicious dinner at Anno 1887 in town. The atmosphere, wait staff, chef/owner were very nice. The food was excellent. We dined on Onion Soup, Tuna Tartar, Coq au vin (a classic French chicken stew), gorgeous Grand Marnier Chocolate souffle (ordered at dinner), Creme brûlée, all of which were expertly prepared and presented and absolutely fantastic.

Life is full of wonderful surprises and Restaurant Anno 1877, located in a historic 18th-century building in heart of Oranjestad, is one of them. On a quite Tuesday evening, we were greeted at the front door of this culinary establishment like treasured guest. Annie our hostess, escorted us to a lovely table surrounded by wall lined artist original paintings in the center of this historic old building. The table was lined with a fresh white table cloth with all the proper utensils and wine glasses and candles with a warm glow. The table was perfectly set for a lovely intimate evening. Executive Chef and Owner and Amsterdam born and raised Linda Pool escaped from her artistic kitchen to carefully make sure what food allergies we may have. Personally speaking, it is a delight to have the chef come and speak to the guest. The menu was like reading a romantic novel with carefully chosen creative ingredients that made the dishes unique and nothing like we have ever seen before. In a world that seems to copy one another, it was refreshing to see creativity at its very best. Most of us chose items off the menu but one decided for the chefs choice 5 coarse tasting menu and envy set in. All the dishes for our group was artistic in design and taste. Although one person chose the tasting menu, the food was presented at the proper time without any fuss. A starter of Smoked Salmon for everyone delighted our taste buds. The Bouillabaisse de Marseille was perfectly cooked. The Traditional onion soup, bread crouton and gratinated Gouda cheese was wonderful. The Scampi Diablo garnered high praise. The Grouper Fillet was perfectly cooked. The best New Zealand Rack of Lamb was enough to make a promise to return. Be sure to order the Chocolate or Grand Marnier Soufflé in advance as it will be a perfect ending to the evening. The wine list and carefully made cocktails would garner an award in itself. Chef Linda came out multiple times to make sure that we were pleased. Please, I beg, take a chance and visit this culinary artist and delightful staff and enjoy a wonder of surprises, you will not be disappointed in the least. Much gratitude Restaurant Anno 1877 for an evening to remember.

What a hidden gem this place is. We went because of a trip advisor recommendation on the Aruba forum, and we were certainly not disappointed! This place has it all. The service was top notch! The attentiveness incredible, the help with wine selection, the friendliness, all first rate. It was my husbands birthday and we did not mention it, but they must have heard me say happy birthday to him, and at the end of the most delicious meal they brought him a slice of rich dark chocolate cake with a candle. What wonderful surprise! The chef came out to make sure we loved everything, and we couldn't have raved more about the taste and quality of the meal. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation for this place!

Anno is one of the best restaurants on the Island. The food is splendid, if you really enjoy good quality food, good wine and a cozy ambience. We had the surprise menu and had a selection served of items that was of very high quality, both in ingredients as menu item; premium cooking and service.

An absolutely lovely restaurant. The food was wonderful! My husband ordered the onion soup and I ordered the bouillabaisse. Both were rich and delicious. As we were waiting for them the waitress brought us each a stuffed mushroom. All I can say is yummmm! He had the coq au van and I had the duck breast. We shared them. Each were shear perfection. I've been fortunate to have spent time in France as we have family there and I can honestly say that this was on par with the finest meal we've enjoyed there. My husband ordered the chocolate mousse as was suggested on this sight. He loved it. They also brought us a delicious plate of little sweets, cookies, chocolate and meringues. My husband told them that we were celebrating our anniversary and tthe chef/owner brought us a delicious slice of chocolate cake with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. So thoughtful. She visited with us and was a pleasure to speak with. We couldn't have been happier with the food or the service. We have reservations at an upscale steakhouse for Thursday but we're coming back here again. The food was magnificent and we want to support this small chef owned restaurant.

Downtown on a side street, this is well worth a visit. Very tasty dishes well presented by an attentive staff that is justifiably proud of their restaurant. A good wine selection and a nice menu. This was our first visit but certainly not our last.
