If you're a meat lover, El Gaucho is the place for you. At the recommendation of a co-worker we made reservations for an early evening dinner at El Gaucho. Parking was somewhat open when we arrived at 6:00 PM, however it was plenty full once we left a few hours later. An indication of how crowded the restaurant became as the night went on. The meal was indeed delicious. We started off with the short ribs appetizer which was some of the best ribs we've ever tasted. For dinner I had the "Argentine Grill" consisting of 5 different meats: Tenderloin, Argentine Chorizo, Ribs, Pork Loin & Beef Short Ribs. I was only able to get 1/3 of the way through my meal and had to take the rest back to our villa for the next day. My wife had the 8 oz Tenderloin Steak and readily finished it off. My parents had the lamb chops and touted they melted in their mouths. There was even a Mariachi, who played traditional music as well as American Classics. The only sour point of the evening was the service. Our waitress was seemingly totally unconcerned about what meal we chose, whether or not we enjoyed it, nor if we needed any refills on our beverages. This really spoiled a truly great meal. Nevertheless, the meal was still enjoyable and El Gaucho is a must visit for a great treat. PS: Be prepared for the check which is a bit pricey.

On the one hand, El Gaucho is a very difficult review to write and on the other it is so very easy. My party of four had caesar salad, strip/sirloin steak, ribeye, mixed grill and a pitcher of sangria. The caesar salad was excellent. The steak and other meat was very good to excellent but not superb. It cannot compare to the meat served in the great steak houses of North America. The sides ranged from average to good. The pitcher of sangria that we ordered was superb. The service was very good. With all this said, on would think that El Gaucho is worthy of at most four stars. That is not the case. There is a festive feeling in the restaurant. It has an electricity and buzz that makes this place special. It extends from the staff, to the guitar singer, to the large groups celebrating something, to the guests in general and to the attentive manager who said she has been at the restaurant for 42 years. A restaurant is not always just about the food and service (and do not get me wrong, the food and service are very good). El Gaucho has been in business for decades and has withstood one of the most important tests of all - time. I understand why. It is a special place, it is a legendary restaurant. For these reasons it is worthy of 5 stars.

Mrs H and I arrived just after it had opened at 1130am. We were quickly seated and waited upon.
We opted for the Mini Grill for two ($110.00) and it came with a bottle of Chilean red wine which was delicious.
The service was good and the food was excellent! We did not finish everything and got the rest to go, and that included the half bottle of wine!
By the time we had left it was well over half occupied.
Well worth the cost and we will definitely return some day!

I made this reservation more than 6 months in advance with a notation that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary on that night. I wanted this to be a special, memorable dinner for my wife. On the night we dined I again informed the staff, before being seated, that we were celebrating our anniversary. During our dinner the staff never did or say anything to acknowledge our anniversary, however a couple at an adjacent table who arrived after we did, apparently were also celebrating their anniversary, received special recognition by the staff and management.
This was our second time eating at El Gaucho in the past 14 months. Both times as passengers from a cruise ship. The first time we dined here with another couple and the four of us were so disappointed in our meals and the quality of the meat. Given all the hype about the restaurant, we all chalked it up to perhaps making the wrong entrée selections.
This most recent visit in March 2020, our anniversary dinner, was worse than the first. My wife ordered Lobster and Filet and the meat clearly wasn’t a filet and was horrible and full of gristle. I ordered a ribeye and it too was sub-par. We were so disappointed and our long-anticipated celebration a disaster; it was memorable, but for the wrong reasons.
I should note that while our server was very good, when I spoke to the staff as to what was the disconnect involving us celebrating our anniversary, they were unresponsive and uncaring.
We just wanted to get a taxi and go back to our ship. The taxi driver asked us why we eat at El Gaucho when a much better steak house was located only a few blocks away.
Suffice it to say we will never go back and caution others that the hype about this restaurant is greatly exaggerated. Stay away!

45 dollar rib eye was under cooked, and I love marbling but this was more fat than meat. The cherry on top was the included service charge, it’s not a tip for the staff, it’s a fee that goes to the restaurant!? Just include the cost in the food item, why is this complicated? I gave the waitress an extra tip when I found out about the fee. The lighting was green tinted like cheap led lights. Children were running around and crying loudly. This place seems like it’s successful merely based on it reputation not its actual current performance. Seems like a tourist trap. So many better restaurants on this island.
The live guitarist was a nice touch.
I don’t send steaks back cause then you eat alone. Chef should be able to tell the difference between medium rare and blue. I don’t send back and I don’t complain, I write reviews.

This was our 4th year to Aruba and our FIRST time to El Gaucho as we honestly didn't believe the hype. We finally gave it a try and will return again and again. The food and service was excellent. Our server was incredibly knowledgably and helpful. We told him the kind of meat we like and he provided great recommendations. The rib-eye and skirt steak were seasoned so well and cooked to perfection. When we ordered a bottle of wine, our server actually suggested a least expensive option that was delicious. Overall, an incredible meal!

This was our third visit here, and I don’t see what the draw is. There was absolutely NO social distancing protocols here. Place was pretty busy and they didn’t separate you between the next table . My steak was ok. Our bill came to $185 for 3. no alcohol or dessert. We inquired about the 18% service charge added and the waiter mentioned that goes to the gov’t because they helped us during the oandemic. It does not go to us as a tip. I knew that was BS. I figured it gets split amongst the staff. We usually leave extra $ anyways . Just found this waiter to be greedy . There are much better places in Aruba that have better steaks and follow Covid guidelines.

We were so excited to go to El Gaucho for dinner. We were greeted by a very nice hostess and sat right away. Server was very friendly. We literally sat at 7:10 and my salad was delivered 10 minutes later and my dinner followed 8 minutes later. I could not enjoy my salad. My husbands steak was not cooked to his liking.
We complained and the manager offered desert and a glass of wine to my husband. When we got the check we were charged fo the wine. We will never go back. Not worth the money you spend.

We try to go to the Gaucho every year when we come to Aruba. I was
very dissapointed with the quality of the asado de tira. Dry and a bit hard.
The extras that come with the meal were also of a poor quality and quantity.
The service could have been better .

If you are a carnivore with a desire for beef, go to El Gaucho. We went for a Tuesday night dinner and were very satisfied. The steaks are monstrous, hind of like walking the steer to your table. The meat is cooked to perfection, the sides, if you even bother with them are tasty and plentiful and the wine list is large enough that it takes several minutes to read. I had a T-bone, my wife had the filet, my son in law had the cowboy steak. All delicious.

I had visited El Gaucho while on holiday 14 years ago and had an amazing meal. Made sure to visit again during my latest stay in Aruba, but was deeply disappointed by the whole experience. The menu was filthy and tattered. We were told that they were out of skirt steak and conch, but were not given any recommendations when one of my party members stated they wanted the skirt steak. The food, was just plain bad. I ordered the El Gaucho Steak, asked for it medium rate, but it was raw in the middle. The steak had absolutely no flavor, it was not seasoned. I had the sides of steamed broccoli, corn and potatoes which looked like school cafeteria food. The garlic shrimp appetizer was only 5 shirmp and had very little flavor. The service was alright, but for a meal that cost almost $300 for my party we could have had a much better meal elsewhere. I would not revisit this restaurant.

We were a day early for a reservation nearby, so decided upon El Gaucho as a replacement and very glad we did! The service from start to finish was very good, the food was pretty tasty and the environment was very relaxing. I had a Tenderloin sampler, which included a pork sample which tasted just like my mother used to make.
The entire staff was very attentive and friendly. We had several higher-end dining visits during our week in Aruba, but this was one of our favorites.

It used to be great.....years ago. Now it is like eating in a dusty museum at best. Don't waste your money here. If they would renovate and make some light so you could see what you eat it would get 6 stars from 10.....at best.

El Gaucho's customer service was great! We were checked on frequently by both our waiter and others. We heard about this restaurant from my dad so we definitely wanted to try one of the steaks he has raved about for years. We started the dinner off with garlic shrimp (4 of them for $15). This seemed very overpriced and tasted nothing like garlic and was not flavorful. Although the service was great, unfortunately, we were not wowed by the steak either. We ordered the el gaucho and although the meat portion was sizeable, the flavor was missing. And the sides weren’t too great either. The broccoli was seemed like it was directly from the bag (like Steam in a bag) without butter, seasoning, or flavor. All together the live music was great alongside with the people. However, the food was overhyped, overpriced, and disappointing.

We had a wonderful meal for two at El Gaucho. For a starter we enjoyed the Cracked Conch Harbour Style. Our stakes were cooked a perfect medium. The El Gaucho was a wonderfully seasoned large tenderloin served with three sides. The Lola’s Combo was a smaller tenderloin (still pretty large also), a lobster tail, and three sides. The food was delicious and full of flavor, the tenderloin and lobster tender and seasoned perfectly. The waiters and staff are so attentive. Everyone enjoyed the live entertainment. Great place for families or couples.
