Reservation at the right time before it got busy. It was rib night. Delicious and ribs covered my plate. Delicious cocktail also. Our server, very accommodating & friendly. We’ll be back next year.

Our main server, Jarlins, was a wonderful addition to our fantastic on-the-beach dinner. Jarlins assured that we had a great time and was such a friendly person. The food was great and flavourful. I will add that the package we paid for, Romantic Beachside dinner for two in the amount of $185.00 US was a great value for the money. You get two very comfortable chairs that cocoons you in order to feel like you are alone with the ocean, a private service with a very prompt and organized service and food that will amaze you. I HIGHLY recommend Matthew’s Restaurant, and I hope you are blessed if you get Jarlins as your main server.

A Caribbean gem. We recently ate at Matthews and as usual , were delighted with our dining experience. I think most people judge a restaurant by four criteria; quality of food, ambiance, attention of waitstaff and price. Matthews receives high scores in each category. We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner and continue to be pleased with each meal. From the Aruban breakfast , Balt sandwich (bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, to the grouper dinner it’s all delicious. Rib night is a special favorite, we look forward to it all year. No one can’t beat the profiteroles - pastry crust, filled with creamy vanilla ice cream and drizzled with rich chocolate, mint leaf and sliced strawberry. I’m willing to do an hour in the gym for it. Right at the ocean front, open air , you can’t find a better spot to enjoy a meal ,watching the ever changing ocean and beach. The waitstaff are wonderful, Sara, Victoria, Jonathan, Marco and others whose names unfortunately I don’t remember , all try to make their guests happy and truly succeed. They are a real pleasure . The meals are reasonably priced considering the quality and size of the portions . Matthews is one of our favorite restaurant on Aruba. You won’t be disappointed .

We unfortunately did not have a good experience at Matthews. The service was horrendous. First they didn’t give us the early bird or happy hour menu, and she seemed very bothered when we asked about it. Our waitress was then too busy talking to other people to come take our order/drinks/etc. We ended up being their for 2.5 hours for a simple meal, which is not ideal when dining with children. I would give the food a 3/5 and the service a 0/5. Only bad experience we had all trip.

Our concierge recommended matthews for a sunset dinner (we waited too late in the week to get in at any other beach side restaurants). We had such a great time with another couple for dinner and drinks. Service was amazing. Our waitress name was Doreen and she was incredible. So sweet and very on top of service. One of the four people in our group has celiac disease, thus has to eat gluten free, and they were very accommodating. She ordered off the regular gluten free menu and got a filet mignon (without the sauce which had gluten) with mashed potatoes and veggies. Really great food and service! Good for gluten free as well! Only downside was the view for sunset wasn’t that great. The sunset was blocked by the beach huts. Other than that we would recommend this restaurant.

I ordered the pan fried grouper and my wife the filet. My wife's medium well cut was medium rare, which we sent back and was cooked to her liking. I enjoyed my grouper. We were serviced by one waiter and then other came by and said he was on break, which was kinda wierd. Oh well, overall I would say worth checking out considering the great views. Two meals, 4 drinks around 5:30 was $100.

I ate dinner at Matthew’s on 2/23/21 while on vacation with family and friends. JARLINS was our server. The beach view at sunset was spectacular. The server convinced me to order the “seafood surprise” without knowing what I would be getting.
The risk was worth the reward. I received an enormous serving (enough for lunch the next day) of pasta overflowing with shrimp, mussels, scallops, calamari and clams.
The price point for meal was typical of what you expect to pay at a restaurant in Aruba. My meal was $30. Service was great as well.

We wandered into Matthews optimistically since I read the numerous raving reviews. Since we were staying at Manchebo resort, we could easily walk from the beach to Matthew's. They were friendly and seated us right away, we got a great table, close enough to see the water.
We ordered our drinks and then the entrees right away because we were so hungry. We were looking forward to our steak, (medium well) and fish. After less than ten minutes, our food arrived. We thought the server made a mistake since it came so quickly. Perhaps he came to the wrong table with someone else's food. However he was had the right dishes that we ordered. We were shocked! The entrees arrived before our bar drinks ??? I guess the look on our faces said it all. Our original waitress came back to explain, another large party had ordered the same items and they had them prepared already.... huh?
So either a) the entrees were sitting under warming lights before we arrived, or b) they had it warmed it in a microwave. The meat was tough and bland. The fish was not memorable. Then the manager arrived to ask if everything was ok. As a general rule, I never complain to people who could potentially mess with my food. (It is never a good idea.) We half-heartedly said that it was 'fine' and paid for our overpriced food. I hope our experience was unique and that no one else has an issue, but reading some other posters who 'used to go there' it does not seem likely.

This is the second time that I've eaten at Matthew's in the past year and I have been disappointed both times.. The ambiance is nice as the restaurant is on the beach but the food is bland. My wife's crab cakes were under cooked and my medium steak was over cooked.. Not worth the price..

We arrived a little past the dinner rush & were fortunate enough to be seated ocean front without reservations. Beautiful view!
My husband and I had Marcos as our waiter and things couldn't have been more perfect. He was always checking back on us & refilling water glasses without prompting. I had asked for a raspberry lemondrop martini and while they weren't able to make that, they did come up with the standard lemondrop martini. It was excellent.
My husband and I split calamari & caprese salad appetizers and each ordered the lobster pasta as our entrees, mine with linguini & his with penne. The lobster pasta was exactly as we had remembered it.
We passed on dessert since we had consumed way too much food as appetizers and main courses.
Overall, a lovely night & we look forward to returning in our next trip to Aruba.

My wife got the fried red snapper and I got the steak sandwich was just had a few specks of steak in it. The steak sandwich was cold. My wife said the fish was just OK. Service was terrible, and then they wanted money on top of the imposed 15% service charge. Go figure. Our server took at least a 15 minute break or longer so we had quite a lull of time during our meal. Their happy hour looked like it might be doing OK.

My new Bride and I were just walking the beach and decided to swing on in. We had not advanced reservation or knew of any reviews. The wait staff was very friendly and we had delightful meals while we consumed happy hour drink specials and later watched the sun set. It was a great way to kick off our honeymoon!

Matthew’s is very special for our family. We have been coming to the island for 24 years and have been everywhere. The view and vibe at this beachside bar is great with lovely sunsets and the beach steps away. Food is always very good but what really keeps us coming back are the people who work there. The staff is smiling and attentive. They go out of their way to make sure all our needs are met. Each day, all day. I cannot say enough about how truly wonderful these folks are. They work hard day after day to make sure the guests are enjoying themselves which is what vacation is all about. A special thanks goes to the bar manager Bhing. Her attitude is infectious, her work ethic is superb and she is truly one of the nicest people we have met in our travels. We look forward to our annual Aruba trip and our happy hours at Matthews because of her and her staff. They make a good place great and that’s why so many people come back year after year. As the thousands of positive comments on this site attest, you must include this spot on your visit to the island. See you guys next year!!

We arrived to do the bbq ribs but they were not ready so we decided on appetizers n drinks until they were.
The waiter went home on break n forgot about us and returned an hour later. I kid you not we were there for almost 2 hours waiting on the ribs and so aggravated that when we got them we just took couple bites and left. Never again nor will I recommend them. Great view terrible terrible service.

From entering the restarurant, to leaving, we were treated like royalty. We enjoyed a wonderful prepared evening meal that was outstanding!! Marcos was our waiter and we never needed anything as he took great care of use. Being such an airy opened restaurant we were right on the beach with the waves noise so we were so content. Marcos gave us lots of info about the island and we learned very much. A relaxing dinner of reasonable value, ocean sounds and attentive staff started us off in our visit to Aruba. Thanks for all.
