My wife and I visited this pub twice for dinner. We did not make a reservation so ate in the bar but this was more than adequate and probably had more atmosphere. Martin, the landlord, was welcoming and friendly. The food was good and served quickly and efficiently by the 'girls'. Other pub customers were equally friendly. A good menu... More

Rang to book for one on Father's Day as I was walking along the MacMillan Way. Told by very friendly landlord that he would guarantee to feed me- and he did. As I arrived I was served a drink and found a chair until, very shortly, a table was found and I then enjoyed an excellent lunch in a vibrant... More

We went at lunch time on Father's Day without a booking. It was very busy but we were offered a small table. I think other places might not have bothered. Despite the number of people there the service was quick, efficient and friendly. I had the fish and chips. I chose the small as opposed to adult portion and am... More

If any landlord or restaurant owner would like to know how to cook & present the simple Ham, Egg & Chips, then dine here. I am a golfer and have had this dish many times instead of the other main Full English Breakfast. I wouldn't say I was a connoisseur but I do believe I've eaten enough to make this... More

Martin and Ann provide a wonderfully warm welcome to all comers; the pub is surprisingly large once inside and the gardens are delightful. Food is competitively priced and the beverages are excellent. It is ideally placed for rest and recuperation, since it is just off the road between Bruton and the A303. After a stressful drive down said racetrack, The... More

The Bull inn was originally built in 1650 and the original section is still in use today. It is wonderfully maintained by Martin Smith the publican of 30 years. It was owned by my wife's grandmother in the 1950's and Martin was very interesting to listen to on the pub's history. Everything is genuine and we indulged in a local... More
