Excellent restaurant serving beautiful fresh fish. Most enjoyable meal with a group of walkers/divers visiting La Restinga.

I have been visiting El Refugio since 1989. In that time the former proprietor has handed on the business to his son but he is still there to add his idiosyncratic brand of humour to the enjoyment of the diners - enhanced by now being relieved of his overall management responsibility. Tables inside are for six and we felt a... More

We went there for a lunchtime snack, but the waiter insisted on telling us about all the various types of fish on offer even though we made our intentions clear. Then got pestered for extras later. Actually the food and the menu were quite interesting and if the service had been more to our liking we would have gone back... More

Though it was low season, there were a few restaurants open in this little village in January. After tried 3 of them, we ended up to revisit El Refugio twice more. Nice people, very service-minded. Instead of chosing from the meny, we chosed our fish direct from the platter. Fresh, fished the same today, by the brother of the restaurant... More

It's always an encouraging sign when the restaurant you are at is full of locals and that was certainly true for this little restaurant tucked away one block from the front. We were offered a wide range of locally caught fish ... The waiter even brought then out fresh on a plate to help us choose ... And then patiently... More

Visited this restaurant with a large group which the restaurant coped with easily. A good variety of food was available with local wines. Cheery service and quality food. Well worth seeking out.

Marvellous grilled fish is being served there. Also try the local vine and beer. Staff is really helpful.

We were there 3 times and each time it was great. The services is perfect, The fishs are really good, The vine is good and not costly (praticularly the local wine Campo Frontera white seco or afrutado at 11€ and 13€). We really enjoyed this place after our scuba divings.
