The BBQ is second to none and the staff ensure that you get all that you need to eat and more. The selection is amazing and there is something there for every appetite. I highly recommend the rukau - it is addictive. Top it all off with a terrific dessert and you have great value for money.

Kia Orana, Thank you for your great review, glad that you enjoyed our little beach bar. Sorry if we ran out of some of our food choices, as I always say, we are not a restaurant and only have a small kitchen so it does sometimes happen when we are busy. We went here for dinner on quite a quiet evening in the bar. The food was delicious - we had the chowder and cheeseboard, both of which were lovely. The cocktails were very well made and great too. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The thing that makes this bar is the decor and atmosphere. It has a great... More

We stayed just up the beach from the Shipwreck Hut, so we regualrly went down in the afternoon and evenings for a cocktail and some live music. We also ordered some beautiful food ranging from cheese and biscuits to chilli con carne. This is local hospitality at its finest. The staff are so lovely and fun. There is an amazing... More

Super laid back and friendly staff, the view is AMAZING (We actually saw WHALES jumping only 400M away!!!). Cocktails were awesome, the long island iced tea was deadly... Food was OK, tasted great and locally made but was reheated from chilled. Superb value for a tourist spot and had a couple of singers on one night

Listening to live music (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday BBQ) while drinking a cocktail and watching the sunset was a highlight. Steve joins in to sing some special songs and the staff sing and dance, as well as cooking and serving food. What a talented staff! We would love to come back.

Description
The Shipwreck Hut is an authentic beach bar situated right on the sand at the Aro'a Beachside Inn. Perfectly positioned to enjoy sunsets that are the envy of the South Pacific while sipping one of the famous "jam-jar cocktails". We also offer cold beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks and "home cooked" bar meals. We serve our bar meals from 5:00pm until 8:00pm (but not on BBQ nights). Saturday - Beach BBQ 6:00pm with live music. Tuesday - Live music 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday - Live music "Sunset Cocktails" 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Exactly what you would expect from a fun loving beach bar in the South Pacific.
