Visited twice during our New Year break at Elie and loved it. Had been there a few years before and the place has been transformed with a new bar and bigger but still cosy restaurant. Great views over the Elie and Earlsferry beach night and day. Food was amazing, highly recommend the steak and the desserts were amazing. Lovely staff... More

We have eaten here too many times to count over the years (been going to Elie since I was 5 and I am much older now!) and several times since the new owners took over. Having just spent a couple of weeks in Elie over the festive period we ate at the Ship Inn 3 times and on all occasions... More

My wife and I had been looking forward to a meal in the Ship Inn after a previous trip to Elie in which we didn't have time to have a meal out. The pub is beautiful with a cosy fire on a cold day. We were seated upstairs which has a very picturesque outlook. The restaurant was fairly quiet and... More

The Ship Inn has done it for us once again!! We visited last year and had a wonderful time and never thought for a moment this could be surpassed. We enjoyed a gorgeous gala dinner on hogmanay with seven courses including lobster ravioli, line caught turbot with clams and the most melt in the mouth venison wellington we have ever... More

Really can't say enough about how pleased we all were with our dinner at the "Ship Inn". We were seated in the re-furbished upstairs dining room with excellent views and we all felt quite comfortable except for one dodgy chair which was changed out by the waiter. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was really good for... More

I've been going to the Ship off and on since 1969. Not much changed over the yrears god food, polite warm service and a lightly genital men's club decor. The new owners have totally changed the place. It's light brigh bigger and most of all the toilets have been revamped. The food was good although putting the chip in a... More

We always wanted to visit this pub and stopped off for lunch. There was a mixup in the kitchen and our food took a long time to arrive after I chased up the order. The food was excellent and the manager apologised profusely for the delay and even knocked £20 off the bill. We will certainly return

10 of us were staying in Pittenweem and decided, as it was such a beautiful day, we would go to The Ship Inn as they were holding an outside BBQ. We arrived about 1.30pm to find both the bar area inside and the outside area jam packed. A friend stood in the queue for the BBQ and I went to... More

Dear Jim Thank you for your review and happy new year to you too. It was an extraordinarily busy day on 1st January and I am delighted that most people there had the right attitude and enjoyed their day with us, in the sunshine with a few drinks in hand. It had been very busy last year on the 1st... More

Stopped off for lunch. We were lucky to get there early (12 ish ) so got a love seat by the fire. The staff were friendly and helpful from serving drinks to serving food. The menu is just full of tempting dishes right down to vegetarian options. Planning to go back to try other dishes. We had Isle of Mull... More

Description
The Ship Inn at Elie in Fife has long been one of Scotland's most iconic pubs, famous for its great views, stunning location, and even as the only pub in the world to have a cricket team with a pitch on the beach. The owners, Graham and Rachel Bucknall, who also run the Bridge Inn at Ratho (named as AA Pub of the Year in September 2014) purchased the Ship Inn, a pub they both knew very well, in late 2014. After a major 6-month renovation programme, they re-opened a transformed Ship Inn in the summer of 2015. 6 beautiful bedrooms were opened in March 2016. The inn is part of a row of old cottages by the harbour. At its heart is the bar where the comfy chairs and sofas beside the open fires and wood-burning stoves make a welcome sight, especially when it's windy and rainy outside. You are more than welcome just to call in for a coffee, but it's worth stopping longer for a pint, a whisky or a meal in the upstairs restaurant with its views of the bay. The same menu is offered throughout the inn - and if you have your dog with you, he or she is very welcome to join you downstairs - water, treats and even dog beds are provided. The food is of the hearty pub variety, but seafood, locally caught, is high on the menu. Graham and Rachel have also created delightful double and twin bedrooms, all with views of Elie Bay and the Firth of Forth. The Ship Inn is unique in the fact that it has the only cricket team in the UK that plays matches on the beach. From May to September, depending on the tide and after the sand has been rolled flat, the Ship's team hosts matches for other Scottish teams and touring teams from all over the world.
