Visited here recently and this is a great pub, the service and pub itself is good. But the food and drinks exceptional - a superb mixed grill! The prices are good and it gets busy from the local campsite but definitely worth a visit. Dog friendly!

We visited The Bulls Head on the Bank Holiday weekend. We were a party of 7 friends from Northampton. The food was great but the reason I am writing this is because the staff were amazing, friendly, efficient and professional. Value for money is a complete bonus. I can't speak high enough of this place. Well worth a visit. Spot... More

Beautiful Bank Holiday weather and lovely to see so many families, walkers, bikers etc.enjoying a day out in this pretty part of the Peak District. The pub caters well for children and is also very dog-friendly. Lots of outside tables. The pub was very busy but the service was good and the food was delivered in an appropriate time...not too quickly as... More

We stayed at the neighbouring Lathkill Dale campsite with a huge group and the great staff served us great food and beer all Saturday evening and night. Many had lunch the following day before heading home, once again very good indeed. This pub deserves 5 stars more than most of the pubs with 5 stars on this site.

Despite being a potentially difficult to manage, large group of families, camping at the nearby campsite, we were welcomed and looked after brilliantly at the Bulls Head. After a quick phone call just a couple of weeks beforehand, they arranged for extra food and staff to cater for us, and were nothing but friendly and helpful all weekend. Great choice... More

Birthday dinner for a family split between Spondon, Derby and Poynton, Spockport. Had a lovely meal, potions were more than generous, meals were piping hot and home cooked and an impressively good selection of traditional British puddings. Will definitely return.

We visited this pub as a family for our lunch as the children were keen to use the play area. Unfortunately due to rain we all sat inside. Although the tables had reserved sign the waitress accommodated us on two separate tables. The selection was vast and the portions on the largish size. For instance I ordered chicken fillet dish... Was staying near by and went on a walk, decided we would pop in here for dinner and a drink on the way back as we have been staying near by for 3 years and never got the chance to pop in. Wish I had done it sooner, the food was just fantastic, great portions, fresh ingredients, cooked beautifully and... More

Visited here on the way back to Buxton from Bakewell. Lovely country pub, homely feel, excellent welcoming staff. Arrived at 4:30 and by 5:30 the place was rammed! Good selection of food, all Home cooked and delicious (apart from kids pizza which was microwaved). Good vegetarian choice and dessert menu delicious. Portions huge and the sides (veg or salad) varied... More

We were a party of 12 - mixed adults and teenagers. We had not booked in the restaurant, the bar area was very busy but they soon helped us find two tables. The service was good by all accounts - but given how busy it was it was truly exceptional. The staff were VERY friendly and made it very easy... More
