We were looking for a light lunch in the centre of Hythe. We read the board outside the Lord Nelson and decided to call in. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly and the food was fairly prompt at a busy time.

My family and I wanted a drink outside in the beer garden early Friday evening. My family took a seat outside in the beer garden. I walked to the bar to order some drinks, and my daughter followed me in. The young inexperienced bar staff refused to serve me as they do not serve drinks in the bar to children... More

We walked past this lovely pub in Hythe High Street on a sunny Thursday afternoon.in early August. Outside the pub was a large double sided board with a great selection of food from starters to main courses and children's meals all reasonably priced. There were three adults and two children so we took some time to decide what we all... More

Tried out the local real ale. Very nice. Cod and chips excellent. It's raining but we've still had a nice time. Also been on the Hythe Ferry to get close up with The Queen Mary II.

A nice old pub with a great view in back garden. A nice patient bar lady. There are a few rooms to drink in. All in all a very friendly nice old Hythe boozer. I tried a few and this was the friendliest and easily had the nicest bargirl and views outside.

I very nearly scored this pub 1 star, it scored an extra star because one of the bar staff saved what could've been a disaster. Went to the bar, ordered drinks, gave card. Pretty normal scenario so far... "You av ta spend a tenna to use ya card" was the response I got from the girl who can prob only... More

I have visited this pub on numerous occasions and it is generally very pleasant. It has 2 little bars, a snug and a large bar and garden to the rear. The bar staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The food is generally ok, but a little overpriced. The menu is extensive and offers a broad range of choice. This... More

Visited for a few pints on a recent overnight stay. Nice old pub with period features, there are a few little rooms with bars plus food is also served. Popular with locals and serves decent ales. A nice traditional english pub, will be back.

We visited after a ferry trip across from Southampton. It was lovely and sunny and most people were sat outside by Hythe promenade with views to Southampton Water and the little train down to the pier. We had a choice of meat- chicken, pork or beef with a range of 4 vegetables, Yorkshire and a good gravy. We has a... More

Well that's what my wife likes about it. Good pub grub, typical beers. Not bad during the week but gets a bit lively on a Friday/Saturday night.. several bars, we like the snug. Young bar staff and often has footie on TV x
