Nice place to eat with a possible view of the bay. Really good food, but lacking in service. You go to a counter to give your order and pay for the food in advance. I never did like a pricey restaurant that asked for payment before you tasted the food. And then asked for a tip.
Drinks were self serve. Condiments were in shared containers on the table. You were expected to bus your table on leaving. Still the food was great.

I don't like the ordering system. You go to the front desk to place your order. The problem with this is that you pay the tip up front which doesn't guarantee good service. That being said, the service was good. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller. Ok, not a good choice there. I expect the oysters to actually be cooked. Here they're basically raw with melted cheese and spinach. We sent them back to be cooked better and basically got them back still appearing to be uncooked. Other items are good, this one not so much in my opinion.

New Orleans food is my favorite. I lived there for 5 years and fell in love with the food. Since I no longer live in New Orleans I am always on the watch for good New Orleans food wherever I can find it. I have eaten at a lot of New Orleans style restaurants outside of New Orleans usually with disappointing results. Cafe NOLA was quite a different experience. This was the best New Orleans style food I have ever eaten outside of New Orleans. They New Orleans proud. The food was well prepared and very taste. The blackened fish was perfectly prepared. The onion rings where crisp, hot and plentiful. The potato salad with rich and creamy. The service was friendly and engaging. Prices are very fair for what you get. Highly recommend the Cafe NOLA.

From the on set of our visit the staff was uninterested in waiting on my family and could have cared less about the food they served us. I ordered a muffuletta, which took 10 minutes to tell me they could not make because their 'staff expert' has not shown up for 2 days???? My wife ordered a bbq shrimp po boy with no mayo or tomatoes...and of course her sandwich came with them. I when to ask if they could correct the mistake, I was told I would have to get back in line and order another sandwich. To the own of this restaurant, "what is wrong with your staff???"

I come to Pensacola Beach every year and have been coming here since it opened, I used to really enjoy it. Now it's become quite popular and the quality has gone down. The fried green tomatoes were undercooked; they used to be excellent. They also still use plastic cutlery. I think if your business is successful because of your wateside location, you should do your part to not contribute to plastic waste. The drinks are small and if you run out midway through your meal, you need to go inside and stand in line to get another. Seeing as the prices are the same as other places with table service and real silverware, I'll not return.

Quick stop for lunch while in the area, left us a little disappointed. We went for oysters only to be told while ordering that they were not offering raw oysters this day, we settled on grilled and BBQ some BBQ shrimp and a po-boy. The food was as just ok, edible but nothing to rave about or that would bring us back. You order at the register and are given a number and a server brings your food when ready. This is one restaurant we will not return to.

If you are within 300 miles of cafe Nola, it is worth your drive! OH MY LORD! The Sunday brunch is sooo good. Large portions. I had bananas foster french toast, hubby had crawfish and andouille omelet AND an order of fried tomatoes AND the best $3 Bloody Mary! The food did not disappoint. Sunday brunch opens at 10am line starts around 9:30.

Had the fried fish and the fried shrimp. Breading for both was slightly spicy, nothing too crazy. Didn't pay attention to the kind of fish and it's not listed on the menu (didn't see it at least) but assuming it was mullet. You can upgrade to grouper or cobia, but we didn't. It was ok and seemed fresh. Shrimp was good and didn't have a super heavy breading on it. One thing I would recommend to people is to be very careful on the front steps--kind of steep. You order up front and someone brings you your food and everyone was clearing their own table. As someone stated in the reviews, you are asked for a tip up front when paying (automated on the screen) and while someone runs food to the table, it is pretty much self serve for drinks, cutlery... View is the bay/sound and watching the jet skis and dolphins if they are out. Of the restaurants we visited, even though it is not expensive, the food you get for the money is below par compared with several other places we went.

Yesterday around 2:30pm we ate here. This was probably about the fifth time we have been here. Customer service has always been great and the food as well. However, the young man that was taking our order was not friendly and acted like he just didn't want to be there. The food was amazing as always.

I live at South Habour across the street and have ate here several times. I have had good service at lunchtime but both times eating at dinner have been horrible experiences. Tonight “Haley” was not friendly and asking her for silverware was a joke she told us it’s inside by the drinks. I would suggest not paying the tip ahead of time like they want you to do when you order because service sucks at dinner time. Haley has no business being a waitress I heard other tables taking about her being rude!

You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. It’s a small place but BIG portions! We split a BBQ shrimp appetizer- it was whole shrimp with the heads on with bread for dipping in the yummy spicy sauce. I had 1/2 muffuletta and had leftovers for lunch the next day. We also went back and ordered bread pudding. The portion was a little small but tasted wonderful! We really enjoyed our meal.

We ordered A Hamburger, Fried Green Tomatoes, Sweet Potato Fries and drinks. We ordered the hamburger Medium Well.
The good:
The hamburger was very flavorful and had a wonderful charbroil taste.
The Sweet Potato fries were delicious.
Atmosphere was great.
The bad:
The hamburger was cooked medium/borderline medium rare. We didn’t send it back because that’s just something I never do.
The tomato that was on the burger was sliced thicker than the hamburger patty. I had to take it off because i could only taste the tomato with it on there.
The burger was brought out before the appetizer. We had to remind them about our fried green tomatoes.
The fried green tomatoes were were cut extra thick just like the red tomato on the burger. They were four times thicker than any I had ever eaten before. And too thick to enjoy because they overpowered the batter.
Despite the few bad things I mentioned, we still thought it was a good meal. The sad part is that it could have been great but fell short due to a few things that could be easily fixed. I’ll give them another try before we leave town.

During our winter vacation and Covid, we had a little fun doing a Gumbo taste test between restaurants claiming to be winners for best gumbo. I picked up some from Cafe Nola and also Frisky Dolphin. The seafood gumbo from CN didn't have much meat in it, but had a good flavor(had claws in it as well). The gumbo from FD was full of meats. We ended up combining the two for great flavor and plenty of meat. I will say the phone call and pickup at Cafe Nola was not very friendly.

Came here with my family of 5. We order the boudin balls, I ordered the blackened shrimp poboy then added fries, husband ordered the gumbo, 1 of my kids got fish sticks & the other 2 got chicken tenders. I didn’t like the appetizer but thought my poboy was good, husband wasn’t impressed & the kids was average. You order at the cashier, get your drinks & they bring your food. Seemed a little unorganized there & it was quite expensive $71 including tip.

We ordered a whole muffuletta and fries on Saturday afternoon. Both my husband and I are from Louisiana and we have high standards when it comes to traditional "Louisiana" food. Cafe NOLA's muffuletta was THE BEST! I would hold it up to the Central Grocery version any day. It has a liberal amount of olive salad, most of which was on the lower bread so as not to fall out as much while eating. They were also perfectly liberal with the cheese (some other local versions we tried had too little cheese), The proportion of meat to cheese was perfect and the bread was super fresh. We just finished eating and we so enjoyed the muffuletta and the fries which were equally great, that I was not only inspired but obligated to post this review in gratitude for the excellent meal. Thank you Cafe NOLA. We are looking forward to our next order.
