It was crowded, you had to sign in with the host near the front door. It wasn't clear to many people, and they had to get in line after fumbling around. I signed in and waited about 15-20 minutes. We were seated in a grand...dining room. The table was dressed in a white table cloth. I believe Mike was our waiter, he was good. Honestly, I thought the menu was weak, both of us had the beef stroganoff with broccoli. You didn't get much to eat, I discover a few pieces of meat in the mix. It was not as memorable as the grand canyon.More

We had breakfast and dinner here two nights in a row. It is the only sit down restaurant open because of COVID and it is very busy. All the food we had was very good and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Tom...that waited on us one morning.More

We ate here several times during our stay. Great food and amazing views. You might have a long wait, but it’s worth it!

They don’t take reservations - we were told ”first come, first served”. We got there at 6 pm and there was a two hour wait for a table. We ordered togo so that we’re wouldn’t have to wait so long. We took took the food...back to our RV and ate it there. It was very expensive (same as if we had eaten in), and none of us liked our dishes. I would have given it one star except the view of the Canyon was amazing, of course. Sadly disappointing...More

I waited 1.5 hours, was 2nd in line, and was shoe horned into end widow table after passing premium window seats. Table had obstructed view of canyon with obstruction being the log cabin wall. Staff said could not reseat and attempted to talk over me...which was rude. Food only OK considering price.More

We stayed at the El Tovar for 3 nights and ate 3 dinners in the restaurant. It is unprecedented times so I'm not sure we had a typical experience. People start to line up at 4pm to get their names on a list for dinner....It is first come - first served so you can either stand at line at 4pm and be apart of an early seating or wait until the line dissipates and have a 1-2 hours wait. The wait was not a problem for us as we were staying on site but for others getting cocktail service during the wait may have been a challenge. The restaurant is almost directly on the rim so you can enjoy the views and walk around while you wait. Service was good...I think many of the servers are long time employees. The menu had some nice options but was the same offering all 3 nights with the exception of one special of the day. I had the Duck one night which was delicious but if you are in the mood for a nice steak be prepared to pay $45+. It would offer good views if you can get in before dark!More

We stayed for 5 days at the Grand Canyon and had all of our meals there. Each one was great. Veg. chili, pancakes, steak, etc. all way above average. Much better than expected. It is a warm rustic atmosphere. The staff were amazing! Everyone so...polite and helpfulMore

Wonderful hotel, view etc but the restaurant is poorly managed. All blamed on COVID of course and that undeniably has impacts but the utter and complete lack of communication from management is inexcusable. Two and a half hours wait time. No ability to make a...reservation. No waiting accommodation. Can’t get a drink from the bar because it’s closed but oh, they one poor lady delivering drinks to room service and the 60 people waiting for a table. The manager could have considered offering appetizers for sale but no can’t do that. Oh but you can get food to take back to your room. They just haven’t thought things through AND there is no place else to eat in the area. Oh and no preference shown to the people staying at el Tovar. You can be staying in a camper a mile away and get the same treatment at the restaurant. Makes no sense.More

I remember seeing one on their front porch and you can grab a drink at the bar and sit in Rocking chairs on porch but don’t believe they allow them on the patio overlooking the canyon

They will be open. As warned on line and as you can see on TripAdvisor, book well in advance. If you are staying in the hotel, you can book 90 days in advance, if not, only 30 days.
