This hotel reminds me of The Shining and I mean that in the best way possible. The decor is really impressive. The food was really good! The menu had more vegetarian options than I expected. That was a nice surprise.

We have been to El Tovar each of our 3 winter Grand Canyon trips but this time was just the best. We ended up 'appetizing' in the bar, having a drink in front of the giant fireplace - so romantic- and then dining at night (I know, no view at night but the foooood!) We then decided to go at... Being at the Grand Canyon and dining at El Tovar always makes me feel so happy and full of life. The atmosphere is rustic and gorgeous, the food is the best of any in any national park, the wait staff are career professionals, and the chefs turn out exquisite dishes. The service is impeccable and unrushed. Call far ahead to... More

This is the best restaurant of many in which we ate at the Grand Canyon. The food was fantastic. I had a delicious hamburger and my wife had a Navaho Taco. My Berger was thick, juicy and tasty. My wife's taco was extremely good, much different from the usual tacos. They were selicious and recommended by the waiter. The atmosphere... More

Make your dinner reservations long in advance, this place gets booked up. Good variety of foods, including some vegetarian and fish options. Friendly attentive wait staff.

You must make reservations or you won't get in. The earlier the better. The menu is varied enough, even for vegetarians, to attract all. We had the special, sable fish on jasmine rice, and the lamb shank. Both were spectacular and the wine to accompany it was reasonable. It was a lovely way to end a great holiday!

I was a little worried about lunch based on the dates appearance and decor at the restaurant. I know it's supposed to be historic, but I was skeptical to say the least. However our waiter, James, was incredibly friendly and helpful. The soup and salad were excellent and the stroganoff and peanut butter pie certainly fine for the price. Overall... More

I love the El Tovar, there is so much history and personality in this building. The food as usual is excellent.
