We enjoyed our dinner at El Tovar. We went later at night so it was more dark and had the warm, dark wood feel. Unless you are staying at the hotel, you'll have to wait at least 30 days in advance to make reservations. I did this via email and we were confirmed with no problems. If you are visiting... More

We came here as part of a Caravan tour and maybe the buildup was too high. Our meal was fine but rich (we are English). The server got the drinks wrong and the people on the table next to us had to wait a long time. It was a somewhat dark room- as a lot of the lodges seem to... More

Enjoyed the wonderful food with a fabulous view. I had the eggs Benedict, which did not disappoint. The lodge was a warm dark wood building which felt like it was from a different age. We didn't stay at the lodge itself but next visit we hope to spend a few nights there.

After hiking all day, we decided we needed to treat ourselves to a nice, relaxing meal. We stopped by the restaurant to make a reservation when we passed by on our hike. It's a good thing we did, because there were only a reservation slots available. We were ushered into the side room, overlooking the Canyon. What a wonderful view!... More

I enjoyed sitting on the Veranda at the El Trovar Lounge and having diner here the first night after I arrived and set up my tent. I can't imagine a better view of the sunset! The restaurant/lounge didn’t interest me- too dark, too formal. The menu on the Veranda is just a bar menu, but the appetizers were plenty big... More

My wife and I stayed at the El Tovar and ate two dinners, one lunch and two breakfasts in the El Tovar dining room. All five meals were excellent. Dinner standouts for us were the Filet Mignon and Blackened Redfish. If you like Salmon the Honey Smoked Salmon for breakfast was great. Deserts were great and house made. Service was... More

We had dinner and breakfast at El Tovar and the food was good, however, the waiting staff although polite, were rushed and unengaging at both sittings. Which is a shame as the restaurant wants to be a fine dining establishment.

Having booked long in advance we were looking forward to have New Year dinner in this historic place. It was packed so slower service was understandable. Foods (fillet mignon steaks) were nothing to brag about, especially for the price. What stayed most in our memory though was the attitude of the few waiters who were so unenthusiastic and rude (hardly... More

We always enjoy a meal at the El Tovar when visiting the GC. The menu has some nice selections along with basic salads and soups all served on tables with linen table cloths! Today their soup of the day was home made cream of asparagus with chunks of asparagus in it. Delicious. I did not care too much for the... More

We were expecting overpriced and average food and service. We were very pleasantly surprised to fine good food, good & responsive service, along with very reasonable prices, not to mention the charm of an old national park inn. My wife and I recommend this restaurant. I had the Ruben sandwich and my wife had the Mediterranean salad with chicken. The... More
