This cozy cafe had a menu well suited to vegans, vegetarians, and coeliacs who are not well catered for by some of the bigger restaurants across the road. My supper of gluten free tempura cauliflower (cooked in its own fryer) hit the spot with a...More

This is an excellent coffee shop with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The coffee and food is excellent, and the shop is small. Thus, it can get crowded, but the staff is efficient, and, even though there may be a long line, the wait isn’t excessive.

The breakfasts are very large portions of mostly home cooked fare. The biscuits are huge, fresh and delicious. There is usually a breakfast line, because the coffee is some of the best in the area. You come in, order, and find a seat. Tables are...More

Mark and staff were great! We stopped in to warm up with some coffee and hot chocolate. We enjoyed some of the baked goods as well. Easy walk from our hotel, the Denali Bluffs. Cozy atmosphere. Definitely recommend stopping in here for coffee and cookies:)

We had breakfast in this small Cafe before our trip to Fairbanks. They have a big choice of cake, muffins and cookies. Gluten free and for vegan too. They don't do table service.

We ate here twice during our stay in Denali. Great coffee drinks (decaf and soy milk) and a fantastic breakfast sandwich made with eggs, cheese, and a biscuit!!

Description
The Black Bear is the place to go for hand crafted, delicious food. Voted BEST CAFE IN ALASKA by Food Network, we proudly stand behind all that we do. Black Bear serves brunch every day until 3pm with delicious offerings such as biscuits & gravy, benedicts and classic egg breakfasts, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches on house brioche, burgers (both beefy and vegan) and our famous smoked gouda mac & cheese. Dinner offers something for everyone, from our vegan gluten-free coconut curry to wild Copper River coho salmon, braised short ribs and fresh handmade pasta with locally foraged morels. We love to find the best local and seasonal Alaskan products and bring them to the people. We offer a full espresso bar, crafting locally roasted SteamDot coffee, as well as shakes and fresh fruit smoothies. You can expect fresh pastries coming out of our in-house bakery throughout the day (some vegan, gluten-free too). And our deli case is always full of quick grab and go items to take on your adventures. If you're coming off a busy day, just grab a local beer or glass of wine to enjoy while you linger on our deck, breathe deep and take in the mountains. Black Bear offers something for everyone, whether you are on an indulgent dream vacation, or keeping on the healthy side. Locals love us, and you will too.
