This restaurant gets pretty good reviews so I expected more that we got one evening. We were staying at the Bryce Canyon Pines hotel adjacent to the hotel so the obvious place to have dinner was at the restaurant. We were told at the front desk to go early and we headed into the restaurant at 5:15 pm. There were quite a few people in the waiting area already at that time. We were by the hotel desk clerk that the restaurant does not take reservations wo we already knew that these people in the waiting are were waiting their turn. We were told by the host that there was about a 45 minute wait. We had noticed a sign saying that they were understaffed and understood that going in. We asked if we could wait in our hotel room for the 45 minutes and were told yes and to come back in 35 minutes which we did. The waiting area was still jammed. We asked the host how we stood in the lineup and he said probably another 15 minutes or so. Around 6:20pm which was over an hour since we first arrived, in walked a tour group of approximately 40 people who were immediately seated. They obviously had a reservation. In another ten minutes or so we were finally seated at a table. When the waitress arrived we ordered immediately. She quickly brought us water to drink and a nice hot loaf of fresh bread with butter. Thank goodness for that bread because we never saw her or any more food for 30 minutes. By the time the food arrived we had been engaged with this restaurant for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Before the food arrived another tour group of about 10 people arrived and were getting constant attention of the wait staff. We felt that the restaurant was much more concerned with the tour group customers that the rest of the customers. I do believe that the host should have disclosed to us that the restaurant had 50 tour group customers already booked and would get priority over hotel guests. I understand that many restaurants in the US had a very difficult time surviving the last year and a half and that staffing is a major problem. I also would have been much more understanding if we had been notified before our long wait that the restaurant was overbooked that night and we might want to go elsewhere. I also saw the staff hustling around like crazy so I do not blame them...they were really trying to keep everything together. We stayed at the hotel for three nights but did not try to eat there after our first night. We just did not want the aggravation.

We stayed at the motel adjacent to the restaurant, wanted to have dinner but there was a 50 minute wait at 7 PM (they did not accept reservations). Decided not to wait for dinner, had breakfast there the next morning. Place was empty at 8:30 AM, had prompt service, waitress very nice. I had the corned beef hash, looked and tasted very generic, my husband had an omelet, also just average. OK price for a tourist area.

While traveling with my mom in the Bryce Canyon area, Bryce Canyon Pines was recommenced to us for dinner. They were practicing COVID protocols, so social distancing had limited the number of guests that could be accommodated in the dining room (the restaurant was offering take out as an alternative to waiting). After a brief wait, we were seated, ordered our dinner with some suggestions from our server. I had the most amazing French dip EVER, and my mom had a very tasty turkey melt. We both took a dessert back to our hotel—our server even warmed the pie up but put the ice cream in a separate container to avoid melting in advance. The level of service, quality of the food, and reasonable prices are all reasons to return on our next trip!!

I was really trying to avoid writing a negative review, but I find that the longer I think about it, the more disappointed I am. My family of 6 was visiting Bryce Canyon National Park last weekend and chose to order take out at Bryce Canyon Pines for dinner on Saturday. We placed a to-go order over the phone and waited in the parking lot for our food to be ready. The restaurant was moderately busy but the order only took 30 minutes. I paid cash ($80+ with tip) for the bill which was a little bit of a surprise because their online menu prices were different and took the food back to the hotel. As we dug into our meals we realized, one by one that five of six meals were badly burned. Charred hamburgers and buns. Inedible except for the fact that we were very hungry after a day of hiking. I called the restaurant to give them a chance to make it right before leaving a bad review. I understand that sometimes mistakes are made and usually if given the chance businesses are more than happy to fix problems. I talked to Cianna in the kitchen. She was so nice and very apologetic. She said she'd leave a note in the kitchen and if I stopped by the next day I could get a refund or food. I stopped in Sunday and no one in the restaurant could help me. They had two teenage boys that had no idea what they were doing (a gentleman was picking up a pre-ordered pie and the worker couldn't even tell him how much the pie was or take payment). I was finally directed to the hotel to speak with Ethel. I'm not sure if she's the owner or manager, but she came out to talk with me and she was not very nice. She didn't even apologize. She'd talked to Cianna and I showed her pictures of how bad our food was. She still didn't apologize and made all kinds of excuse about having to wear masks and social distance. I understand we have all had to make adjustments, but a simple "I apologize," would have gone a long way to making me feel better about the experience. In the end she gave me a partial refund (not even half) and I was so speechless I took the money and left. Needless to say, I'd skip this restaurant until they can get up and running at full capacity and without restrictions.

Arrived at 1:30 on a Sunday. We were seated after 35 minutes and 10 minutes later I went and asked someone if we had a waiter he said “I see you, don’t worry about it!” We ordered poppers ( a potato fried stick) soup and a BLT. Tomato soup was cold, bread was old and mealy. They had 2 out of the 7 pies on the menu. We had to go find a server for service. They clearly could care less we were there. Plenty of people were leaving because the wait was too long.

After our "greeting" from the "hostess" (and I use both words loosely), we should have walked out. Every element of our "dining" experience seemed to be a major effort for them. While we were rushed to give the server our order, the food came slowly. It was not so much "served" as it was slung on the table. The food was unremarkable in taste, including the soup and pie for which they're supposedly known. This is one of the few restaurants we've experienced in all our our travels where we seriously considered not leaving a tip. We did, but certainly not the standard 20%.
If you're staying in the Bryce Canyon area, go into Tropic and eat at Rustler's Restaurant. It's cheaper and beats this place by a mile!!!!

What a total waste of a stop! To start, it took 25 min AND they messed up the order. Gave us a cheeseburger instead of grilled cheese (only an issue because we are vegetarians, otherwise one of us would have just dealt with that). The hostess gave us major attitude for asking for the correct item to be given instead. Had to wait another 25 min for a simple grilled cheese to be prepared (while trying to distract a very hungry 2 yr old). The food itself was very underwhelming. Subway is down the street; save yourself and go there instead.

We stayed at a nearby hotel and asked at the desk what restaurant they'd recommend in the area... The night before, we had very few choices as most places close by 7pm, so wanted to make sure to get something really good! She recommended Bryce Canyon Pines, noting that they are known for their soups and pies. We called in advance as we wanted to be sure to have the dinner menu available to us, which starts at 5pm. We arrived at about 5:10 and were given the lunch menus. We asked our waitress about dinner and she came back with those menus. The soup of the day was chili, which didn't really sound great after a warm day of hiking, but my son decided he wanted to try it and the chicken wings for dinner (9 year old vacation food!). I had the chicken fried steak and my husband the ribeye. The chili was pretty basic, the chicken fried steak decent (not at all greasy) and the ribeye was okay - definitely not the "16 ounces of thick cut steak" that the menu describes. It was maybe 1/2" thick, but at least a large piece and cooked properly. We ordered three slices of pie to go - chocolate cream, blackberry and sour cream raisin (which they said is a favorite of locals). All were very good, but also pricey. Overall, we spent a good amount here for an average meal. Maybe better than other meals we could have had in the area, but not quiet what we'd hoped.

My family of 5 (wife and I with three hungry sons between 16 and 20 years old) stayed at Bryce this week and we heard people talking about the great soup and pies at Bryce Canyon Pines, so we figured we’d try them out for dinner. We arrived just before 8PM (not realizing the restaurant closes at 8) and were seated for dinner. Despite our late arrival the staff made us feel very comfortable. Their soup of the day was a goulash soup (a hearty soup of beef, noodles, vegetables) and it was excellent. We ordered steaks, burgers and French dip roast beef sandwiches and all were good, with good fries and baked potatoes. Note that we like our steaks on the rare side, so we ordered them rare and what we got was on the rare side of medium rare so they were cooked well.
The pies were incredible and were the highlight of the meal. They had 5 fruit pies and 5 cream pies. We tried out the cherry pie, boysenberry pie (both a la mode) and the blueberry banana cream pie. The fruit pies were terrific and I was almost in heaven eating the cream pie. So amazing! Turned out our waitress had baked the pies that day (kind of like the Broadway show, I guess!) so she was very pleased at how happy we were with the pies.
Definitely worth a stop, and I wish those pies were closer to home for us but I suppose my waistline will be glad that they aren’t!

We stopped by on the recommendation of a local. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait by a host with earbuds in. An hour later, we were seated and assisted by a waitress who wanted to be anywhere else other than at work on a Friday night. The food arrived to our table cold (mashed potatoes) and uncooked (sweet potato fries). After this experience, we decided to get groceries and cook at our rental for the rest of our trip.

Sent here by recommendation from hotel worker. There are not a lot of choices to eat around here and we were very tired from hiking. Got there around 7:15 and they took our name and gave us option to call us when table was ready. They told us they were short handed so it would take at least 45 min to seat. That was about right. No distancing between tables for COVID purposes but we have all had both COVID and the vaccine so that did not concern us too much. We had the munchers for app and they were good. Think tator tots with cheese and peppers. Also had chef salad, open face roast beef sandwich and patty melt. They were all pretty good and then took a slice of apple and blueberry pie to go to eat the next day. I thought the food was homemade and had good taste and seasoning. Even though they were busy our waitress was pretty attentive and we asked for the ticket after we ordered our pies to go. Would recommend and would go again. Just be prepared for a wait!!!

Normally, I would not rate this high because it took 1/2 hour to get seated. However, the hostess told us they were down to 1 waitress and she had many hungry patrons to serve. We decided to be patient and were rewarded with a truly wonderful lunch.

On a recent road trip to SW Utah, we hate lunch here one day and breakfast the next. Everything my friend and I ordered was good ~ two types of soup, tuna melt and fries the first day; a cheese omelet (fluffy, with plenty of cheese) and eggs/potatoes/meat platter the second day. Restaurant and motel complex are attractively set among pines. The inside decor is what I would call modern rustic ~ very pleasant. We had good service from both of our waitresses.

I have to start by saying that some reviews I read were very negative regarding service. That was not our experience. We had outstanding service ❤️ Our waitress, Janice T., went out of her way to accommodate our party of 10, splitting our checks 3 ways and taking care of the many children in our group. She had great suggestions as to food choices, and her suggestions were spot on. This is a “must stop” if you love pie! My favorite was the banana strawberry cream, but the chocolate angel cream with the meringue crust and the lemon raspberry cream were also outstanding. This restaurant is noted for “homemade” meals and our group especially enjoyed the elk burgers. I had the open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce! Good comfort food! We are only staying in Bryce for two nights and plan on eating here again. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there is a bit of a wait (we are a group of 10) but it WAS WELL WORTH IT!

Stopped in for a quick bite while we waited for some mid afternoon light on the hoodoos in Bryce. Wish we wouldn't have stopped. The busboy stood at the bar with his face in his phone in plain view of the customers the entire hour we were there. Tried a burger, who messes up a simple cheeseburger, Bryce Canyon Pines, that's who. The burger itself looked like a pre-packaged frozen variety, which isn't ideal, but I can live with as long as it tastes okay and has all the fixings. It came with a thick slice of tomato, not my cup of tea, but kind of on par for an out of season tomato, a tiny pile of iceberg lettuce, which was wilted and bitter, two pickle chips, must be tough to get pickles I guess, and served the hockey puck masquerading as meat on a very stale, dry, bun. They seem to be the only game in town on the off season and rely on people not wanting to drive elsewhere. We should have eaten the map the NPS gave us for Bryce Canyon instead.
