Discovered the Kirkstile Inn in Loweswater yesterday. What a great place. Lovely setting and delicious food. Staff seemed happy, which is always a good sign. The food is traditional hotel style cooking but with a few imaginative twists and of a very high quality. A lot of care had gone into the details and it was cooked with skill. I... More

I have had the pleasure to eat and drink at this fabulous old Inn a few times in the last month. Dog friendly indoors until 6.00 pm then after that time dogs allowed only in the superb beer garden. We were lucky with the weather so the garden was the perfect option for myself and my beloved Springer every time!... More

Whilst staying near Loweswater, following Tripadvisor recommendations, we visitedthe Kirkstile Inn for dinner and were not disappointed. The local ale was worth the visit alone, but the friendly service and excellent food meant we went back for more again and again and were not disappointed each time. On the last visit tried the Black Pudding and Goats Cheese balls -... More

I've eaten at the Loweswater Inn many, many times and I love everything about it. It's absolutely lovely from the fantastic old building, the lovely beer, and the food never disappoints. As a committed vegetarian I often loose out when it comes to choices. In a lot of places, the vegetarian options are either boring veggie lasagne, or pasta bake,... More

Had lunch in the sunshine in the garden of the Kirkstile Inn. Lovely Vegetarian Lasagne, possibly the best I have ever had. Others had Fish & Chips and Steak & Ale Pie. All were devoured with comments such as great fries, super vegetables, everyone was delighted. Can't wait to come back!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Been calling here regularly over the years and never been disappointed, good food menu and some very fine ales. Superb views from the garden. Parking can be difficult at busy times.

Was visiting family who live locally who had chosen this pub for our family lunch. What a great choice - as soon as you walk in the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and a delicious smell from the food being taken to the tables whilst we were waiting to book in. Choice on menu was wide and not expensive. We... More

This was our second visit this year. The food is very good, the steak pie obviously cooked in a big rectangular tin and then portioned- in other words, a proper steak pie! Superb. Vegetables fresh and puddings excellent. The children's menu is better than in many pubs. You can sit inside, or outside overlooking the river. The staff are friendly,... More

Been for a morning walk around Buttermere in the pouring rain. Just one of those days but the weather ain't gonna spoil our fun. Great walk. We must be mad lol . Just driving past Kirkstile pub and called in on spur of the moment. Glad we did. Lovely welcoming pub with very pleasant & efficient staff who clearly put... More

Whilst on holiday in the Lakes we visited the Kirkstile & were so impressed we went back for a second go at the menu. Everything we had was fantastic -- like the chicken, leek & chorizo suet pudding, barbary duck, steak pie, scotch egg coated in cumberland sausagemeat and chorizo, & various cheesecakes. All sublimely good! The beers too were... More
