Whilst on holiday in the Lakes we visited the Kirkstile & were so impressed we went back for a second go at the menu. Everything we had was fantastic -- like the chicken, leek & chorizo suet pudding, barbary duck, steak pie, scotch egg coated in cumberland sausagemeat and chorizo, & various cheesecakes. All sublimely good! The beers too were... More

We lunched here when walking from Braithwaite to Buttermere as part of the Inn Way - what a great pub. An excellent range of beers, super food (we both opted for the wild mushroom risotto) and very friendly service - a perfect recipe after a tough morning's walk.

Located in the tiny village of Loweswater in the Western lakes this ancient pub is a gem. The brewery tap for Cumbrian Ales and a lovely drop they are too. Well kept and consistently excellent beer. Friendly staff and good food. But it gets very busy with walkers. I'd give Friday and Saturday nights a miss if you want a... More

We popped into the Kirksville Inn after walking round the lake.I was impressed with the choice of beers, but there were also choices of gins and whiskeys. I can also say that I had some of the best food I've had for a while - Slow roasted lamb followed by apple and plum crumble with proper custard. Great ambiance and... More

What a lovely little pub, we are local and visit a lot. The decor is very oldy worldly, but honestly perfect. The menu has great selection, food with a great twist. Only thing i would change is that you have to order at the bar I'm not a great fan of this but thats my personal opinion. Food was excellent,... More

Deservedly popular pub selling pub food that is a cut above the norm. Particularly liked the savoury suet puddings there. Friendly staff, a beautiful setting and very good food is a good combination

Stopped off for lunch after a walk. The location is superb (and on a clearer day probably even better). First positive was the welcome - the Maître d' instantly made us feel welcome. Seems to be quite a rambling pub with various specs - the bar area is really cosy with nice decor - but we chose to sit outside... More

Just been here for tea and I had the steak and ale pie - brilliant! People I was with are the goats cheese salad and the wild mushroom risotto! We had desserts: Tia Maria and dark chocolate cheesecake; apple crumble with 'proper custard'. All was delicious. Strongly recommend Loweswater Gold as a beverage. My favourite pint by far!

As many have said this is a very pleasant country pub serving good food. My complaint is that, if you are a regular visitor, you soon realise that the vegetables served never change - they are always carrots, mange tout and baby sweet cooked and are usually under-cooked. It would be nice if they employed someone who could cook something... More

Beautiful day so sat in the beer garden with dogs. Food delicious, generous and beautifully presented in modern crockery with nice cutlery and napkins. Best chicken Caesar salad I have ever had. Husband & friend loved the homemade tartar sauce with the fish and chips. Hot pot was good too. Deserts deserve a special mention as they were fabulous. Nice... More
