We spent a couple of nights at this Inn and found it very much met our expectations. We were seeking a country inn in the Lake District away from the main tourist areas serving hearty walkers food and a nice pint after a day winter walking. Well, this fitted the bill very well with a warm and cosy bar and... More

Love calling in here after a long walk in the lakes. Always busy and some of the best beers available in the area. The food is expensive and average to be fair but the atmosphere with the real fire has to core high.

Called in for dinner on a chilly evening. Cosy atmosphere, helpful and professional bar staff. Food was excellent and service friendly and prompt. One to revisit.

Stayed here recently for our joint birthday celebrations. Have been before but this time we stayed four nights. The room was sweet and had a great view from the lounge, Malbreak looming large. Breakfast, taken on the terrace, was great and very generous in size. Dinner was exceptional. I had steak twice in the week and it was sumptuous. Perfectly... More

What a gem! Entered this stunning country pub after a walk around nearby Buttermere. The atmosphere was just perfect. Large log fires greeted customers looking for food, drink and conversation. It was mid afternoon and busy with a buzz of contented customers. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. An amply stocked bar displayed a dazzling array of Cumbrian Legendary... More

Went for dinner after a walk round Buttermere and Loweswater. The bar is well stocked with local beers. In fact it says on the menu that they have their very own brewery. We had the fish and chips and a vegetarian aubergine dish, both of which tasted great. They also came with two side dishes, a lovely salad and roasted... More

We visited the Kirkstile Inn for lunch during our recent trip to Cumbria. We managed to get a table outside which made it even more pleasant as we were able to take in all of the spectacular views. For lunch, we thoroughly enjoyed their salmon sandwiches and with a pint to wash it down, it made for an even better... More

The Kirkstile has become an institution over the last decade or so. What a truly terrific pub this is, in one of the most beautiful (and relatively quiet) corners of the Lake District. A terrific array of their own brewed ales and a delicious selection of food from burgers and pies to right fancy stuff should you be inclined. After... More

Ate here three times whilst we were in the Lake District and it was amazing, the food was superb, the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Even though it was always busy we never had a long wait for our food. The inside of the pub is quirky with an open fire and a separate dinning room and a nice conservatory... More
