The Carpenters Arms have kept the pub very Covid safe, tables apart, staff with masks, you feel very safe here. As usual the food is good, with the pies always being a favourite. Also during lockdown they provided takeaways with free delivery. Well done Lyn and...the teamMore

Having visted the new forest on holiday for 44 years, we found this gem of a place about 5 years ago, and now go regularly for family Meals. At present due to covid their cleaning regime and covid compliance make you feel very safe eating...there. We have got to know The landlady Lynn over the past few years whom makes us feel very welcome with her friendly nature and top notch service. All the waitresses are warm and friendly. The food is always lovely and is propper home cooked food. (Not chain pub packed food) The lamb shanks are huge, and the lamb chops are lovely. This is the place of the home cooked pie. The pies are stuffed with filling with a big choice. The waiters and waitresses work their backsides off to accomodate everyone. The restaurant has a small area where you can eat with your four legged friends, plus an outdoor area and play area. Prices are very reasonable, and although the menu is currently limited due to covid issues, the choice is still very good and varied. If you like big portions of gorgeous home cooked food, the carpenters arms is very worth a visit.More

Pre-booked on the Dine out Scheme. Whilst waiting a while to be seated we realised how busy the restaurant was - one large group in a private section and every table occupied and tables didn't appear spaced apart so we asked to sit outside. None...of the staff wore facemasks. After an hour we almost gave up and left but finally our starters arrived, our main course was quicker but we gave up waiting for dessert or trying to get the bill so went back in to the bar and queued to pay the bill. Staff that served our drinks were really friendly but they were so busy they couldn't cope with the number of people. Food was ok but nothing special.More

Staying locally so decided to support the village by eating at the Carpenters, looked nice from the outside so thought why not?. Food was 'just ok' over priced pub food at best but what was alarming is the avoidance of Covid19. Yes the signs were...up but every member staff had no PPE (there was allot of them), no track and trace in place and the bar was packed with no social distancing. Shame really!More

The title says it all. In these difficult times, the Carpenters sorts it all. Nice friendly staff, great well kept beers and very good wholesome food. Tables are adequately spaced out to observe social distancing and the staff work tirelessly to ensure everything is clean...before and after tables are vacated. The food is great for a local pub and the beers are the best well kept beers in the village, and we have 3 to choose from. More of a locals pub than the 3 tuns but most definitely worth a visit and beats the Crown, hands down in food and beer.More

Visited while visiting area. Nice friendly, light and spacious pub. Large portions, food very good. Wish waitresses would wear masks when serving you drinks and food. Otherwise very good evening.
