Driving the scenic route through mid Kent saw a sign for Oyster and champagne bar. As this is in the middle of nowhere and being a shellfish fan I turned around and decided to have a lunch there on a Friday at about 13.30. I was the only person there at that time. Pleasant and helpful lady behind the bar,... More

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. I started with the scallops, which were delicious - lovely to have a some new flavours to accompany scallops rather than boring pancetta and pea purée! For my main, the fillet steak, potatoes saladaise - both excellent. Beautifully presented and delicious to eat. If I'm honest the restaurant decor needs updating, however... More

As this is a bit off the beaten track its a hidden away treat. Lovely oldy worldy pub that has kept its lovely beamed features. Nice outside seating that we could not use as being England it was raining ! The lady that took our order was knowledgable about the menu and attentive. The food was lovely and a absolute... More

Stayed here when we had a party at the nearby hawksbury inn. Lovely accommodation and a brilliant breakfast. Will defiantly use this place again. Had lunch yesterday and had the curry 10 out of 10 and Denise had crabs and prawns and smoked salmon. Lovely staff very polite and accommodating.

We didn't want the meal to finish - it was so tasty. The meat almost melted in your mouth it was so tender. Service was great and the crockery - huge purple glass plates - were fun. Loved the animal print decor and huge chandeliers in the restaurant - total contrast to the quaint style of the pub itself.

I took my fiancé here for her birthday yesterday (2nd June) and I must say we really enjoyed our visit! A couple of glasses of champagne and half a dozen oysters really set the standard for the evening. The quality of the oysters was second to none, lovely juicy large oysters ... yum! For a starter we had the asparagus... More

The setting for the restaurant is really nice. The menu was limited but appeared tpo offer a reasonable choice. It's just a shame the food was anything special. The waitress was friendly enought but not the most knowledgeable. My main course was more like home cooking than restaurant food, perfectly tasty but not special

We arrived slightly early on a Friday afternoon and this wasn't a problem as our room was ready, we were greeted by friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere.....and decided to have a coffee in the bar before we were shown to our room..... The pub is so quirky, traditional old country pub with a funky twist, not at all sleazy... More

Went for dinner with friends in the bar. The service was excellent and the food was good. Portions were a little on the small side. It was very overpriced for the size and quality of the meals.
