Cosy, warm and welcoming would describe the ambience. Warm log fires and the friendly attitudes of both the family and members of staff. Make sure to call and book in advance for Sunday Roasts as they go quick! Phone bookings.

My partner were visiting the area and popped in asking for a sunday roast, (without hoping for too much as it was quite late and most places would have stopped service). Despite the late time, we were greeted by the incredibly lovely owners, who couldn't...do enough to accommodate us and make us feel welcome! The pub itself is very cozy and quirky, with a lot of personality and very nicely and carefully decorated. The roast was absolutely amazing, can honestly say it was one of the best we've ever had, with everything home made and incredibly tasty (including a homemade very good creamy leak and horseradish sauce which we've never had before) Thank you for your hospitality! It was a pleasure meeting you both and we very much look forward to visiting again 😊 Ofelia and AndyMore

This really is a must for anyone visiting (and living) in Calstock and surrounding areas. Had a fabulous meal with friends and family, the owners were totally accommodating to the dietry needs and went above and beyond to prepare food for us when we arrived...Sunday 21st in the evening. Food really was delicious....sunday roast with all the trimmings. The best part about our visit was the entertainment... Free live entertainment from the owners who are delightful and hilarious. A rare pub experience and one I'd happily return to any day if the week. Thank you so much for making it so special :)More

From the outside it may appear closed but don't let that put you off.... The minute we walked in we was welcomed by a cosy atmosphere, roaring fire, friendly chatty landlords followed by the best Roast I've ever had in a pub. These days I...normally steer clear of roasts as they are expensive, scrimp on portions and leave you feeling totally underwhelmed for the money. What a totally different experience at The Boot Inn. Delicious food, amazing size portions and brilliant quality. The Trio of meats was incredible and superb value for money. Highly recommendedMore

I have been to many restaurants all over the world but was bowled over by my meal here. All the more so as we are in a Covid world where so often food is substandard or the service is poor. So to come to a...restaurant where the menu was plentiful and the food delicious and the service wonderful was so unexpected. This is a team of a lovely friendly couple husband and wife. I had sea bass cooked to perfection with delicious creamy potatoes and salad. My cousins had steak with sides of delicious vegetables and chips cooked exactly as they requested.. This must be Cornwall’s best kept secret. You could not eat better anywhere else.More

I visited the pub looking for a meal for the following evening. Two locals quietly suggested that this was the best place to eat locally. I had a drink and chat with the owners and booked. I had been made to feel welcome and was...not disappointed the following evening. My starter of creamy scallops and home made bread was excellent and my main, a triumph of medallions of pork was a delight to behold and eat. My wife had the most delicious homemade fishcakes. The meal was clearly cooked to order and was a long time before we were served. We enjoyed chatting to the female proprietor whilst admiring a lovely log fire. It was a most relaxing evening and I wish we could have had their Sunday lunch. Highly recommendedMore

We stayed at the beautiful Chapel at Harewood Farm for only 5 nights but went to the Boot Inn twice for dinner: The first time for Sunday roast and I agree with other reviews, probably one of the best I've ever had - generous portions...of tender beef, proper yorkshire puddings and tons of gravy served with all the trimmings, including the most delicious leek and horseradish sauce. (Despite being stuffed we managed to squeeze in big portions of bread & butter pudding and trifle) The hosts Kim and chef Sean were equally colourful, regaling us with stories as they kept everyone fed and watered. We came back a couple of nights later, lured by the promise of a chateaubriand but also to visit the hosts again - and were not disappointed on either front - Beautifully cooked meat accompanied by potato dauphinoise & asparagus and a couple of hours of really lovely chat. Definitely a highlight of our holiday - we look forward to returning one day :-)More

I came with my boyfriend for a Sunday roast and it was probably the best roast I've ever had! The food was amazing, really good value and we both loved it. I would recommend this pub to anyone wanting a traditional roast dinner, in a...cosy pub with a friendly atmosphere, will definitely be going back.More

“They do terrific food!”, claimed my brother before we arrived at the inn and, indeed, we were not at all disappointed. I had chateaubriand and I can honestly say it was the best steak I have ever had in my life. My wife dined on...sea bass in a ginger & lemon sauce, and she found it succulently tender and delicious. The pub is quirkily traditional and both the landlady and the landlord-cum-chef, are very personable and friendly. Given the quality of the cuisine, the prices are most reasonable, you could pay much more in an equivalent high-class restaurant and not have anything like such an enjoyable feast. Mind, this establishment has a mild whiff of Dickensian eccentricity about it. If you prefer modern, bland and boring, as served up by the major pub chains, don’t bother to come here. We, ourselves, shall certainly book a table again the next time we roam the West Country.More
