My husband and I were introduced to 551 Horai's pork buns by my brother in law. They were juicy, fresh and hot all the time! You'll see them making the buns on-site, and it helps that their cashier can speak English. Best eaten with the...sauce they provide (tastes like wasabi but is colored yellow). Good value for money.More

I tried the pork buns. The texture of the bun was amazing. The mustard provided pairs well with the the minced cooked pork inside.

Love this place as the services are good and the foods are also not too oily, they are famous for their butanan but please try their restaurant...!

Takeaway branches are ubiquitous in virtually every significant mall and station in Kansai Province. Limited menu of nikuman and gyoza that is always quickly prepared and fresh; I prefer the nikuman. Amused that other reviewers keep comparIng items to Chinese bao buns, dumplings and dim...sum. Relationship is as close as tempura is to English fish and chips!More

Horai was established in 1945 by 3 men. The word ‘Horai’ means paradise and that’s what the food tastes like. They are a chain located throughout Japan. The first time having these delicious and filling treats were at Kyoto Main train station. The first few...times I passed the place, I always saw a lineup. It’s a sign the food is good when there’s a lineup. I bought the two pork buns (minimum to buy) and 6 pork dumplings. Well worth the price . Second encounter was at Kansai Airport. Both occasions were tasty. Note it is strictly take away.More

Firstly I had it at the outlet in Shin-Osaka Station which had perpetually long queues, so I imagined it to be really delicious but turned out to be a huge disappointment. For someone used to having yummy dim sum, this is hardly worth the queue....Don’t see why this is a must try as reviewed by some. It’s made fresh and served piping hot no doubt. But I didn’t think it’s superbly outstanding. Too meaty and not as springy as the ones in Hong Kong or even Singapore and Malaysia. Didn't help that the minimum order is 6 pieces so too much of a not-so-nice thing just makes it worse. The meat buns are slightly better, glad that they come in box of 2 as the minimum (this wasn’t on their main big menu board though so I was thinking I had to get 4 and wondering how to finish it, until I saw the menu on the counter top). The pork buns are huge and very filling. Much better than the Siew Mai I would say but again, nothing wow and absolutely not a must have.More

We came across this at the train station after being on a plane then train for over 24 hours. What a great feast we had! The food is prepared & cooked in store and served hot. We had the pork buns the first night and...they were so tasty Later on the week we had the Siew Mai dumplings & sticky rice for lunch. Again they were hot and delicious. Every night when we were heading back to our hotel, there was a line up for the food. I can understand why. They were always hot, fresh & tasty. No added MSG or salt just flavour.More

The place does not have in dine service. Everything is for take away. Though it is fast food, but it is quite good. I like the warm gyoza as well as the room temp sweet meatballs. Next time will try the pao.

This is the best pork bun and siew mai dumplings that i have ever tasted. Its big, juicy japanese version of what we used to eat in Singapore. The meat inside the bun and dumplings is so fresh that you can finish the whole bun...in seconds and before you know it, you are craving for another one. There's always a long q for this and I think its worth the time to q up for it. Don't leave Osaka without tasting it, you will definitely regret.More
