I had my dining experience at the Shinagawa location but as TripAdvisor does not contain it in their database, I felt it necessary to share my tears of joy and pain here with the Shinjuku ramen lovers.
Upon arriving at Moko Tanmen Nakamoto, the restaurant...immediately outlined the levels to which I could incinerate my stomach lining ranging from a mild 1 all the way to the nuclear fissure that is Hokkyoku ramen at 9. Of course, being the responsible adult that I am, I promptly slapped my Chuck E. Cheese® tokens into the Skynet™ ticket dispenser and ordered the bowel geno-sizer or Hokkyoku ramen.
As a connoisseur of spicy foods, I had the misguided notion that this ramen would be as small and insignificant as the island it was produced on. However, as soon as I laid waste to the remaining greenery this country had to offer in the form of the leafy greens in my ramen, I realized the battle had only merely begun. Much like how Oda Nobunaga’s dreams of conquest were split asunder, my stomach was feeling the might of the approaching army in the form of the magma broth and scorching noodles worming past the copious liquor I consumed earlier that day. As the war waged, I quickly came to realize this ramen was more than I had bargained for. I looked up from my bowl briefly to regain my composure only to see a salaryman in the corner of my vision sweating bullets and losing consciousness. As I thought “fighto!” to him, it also became my mantra to overcome this foe.
Overcome I did, likely at the cost of being able to defecate without aid in my later years but the battle was won nonetheless. If you enjoy ramen and seek the thrill of battle, Hokkyoku ramen is your fight for the future.More
