Staff was very helpful even though we speak no Japanese. They provided us with an English menu and the place has gluten-free options noted on the menu.
I was delighted to see the happy face of my 4-year-old niece today when we used it with a group of 8 people. Being a big fan of Moyan Curry, I ordered my usual avocado curry, and the taste never fails to impress me every...time I have it! The Pineapple-spiced lemon sour was also cute and photogenic for Instagram. This restaurant surpassed our expectations. Lots of options for anyone who needs to avoid gluten (be careful of some of the toppings as they aren't all GF) with no reduction in flavour. The service was a little blunt and there wasn't a huge amount of...atmosphere, but a great spot for a quick and tasty curry.More
Japanese curry shop right next to the hotel Gracery Shinjuku. Menu entirely gluten free. Regular portions include sizable portions of rice and sauce and two small pieces of meat - perhaps 2 oz. Yet surprisingly filling.
We went for dinner as the restaurant was close to our hotel. We should have known from the start that this was a bad idea. As soon as we came in to ask for a table the waitress made a stop sign with her hands...and then asked us to...wait outside! This is not the best way to welcome customers.... Once inside we were advised to choose between just three dishes as the other ones would take too long! We told them the level of spice we wanted when asked. But when the dishes came it was all wrong; my husband’s was not spicy at all (although he asked medium spicy) and mine was very spicy despite specifically asking for not spicy. But this was not the worst yet. When the bill came, they had overcharged us. When we told them and asked about an additional charge we were not supposed to have it took the waitress a good 5 minutes to work it out before rectifying. Then we paid cash and the change she gave us was a lot less than expected. So we had to tell her that we were short of a lot of cash! She agreed and then again got it wrong and didn’t give us back enough money. A mistake can happen once but not three times. Clearly they take tourists for idiots and try to rip them off! So avoid at all cost...literally!More
This restaurant was recommended to us for the Japanese curry. The interior is quirky and full of locals, always a good sign. These have an English language menu which explains the wide range of curries and how to select option size and how spicy you...want it. The meals arrived very quickly and were very well priced. We've never tried Japanese curry before and now we are both fans. As soon as you walk into this tiny restaurant you are smacked in the face by the most beautiful aroma. The food is as good as it smells. I would eat here regularly...if I lived here. I read a sign on their door saying that they have won awards for their currys and i know why. Tiny stools and wall hooks for coats like many tiny Japanese restaurants. This curry house attracted us by the "Award Winning" sign and we gave it a shot. Menu clearly outlines sizes and degree of heat you can order. We took level 5 and it...was more spicy than a regular Japanese Curry and delicious. We all had vegetarian selections, the avocado, cheese and the ratatouille curries and they were fantastic and just the right portion (small). Included is a tiny accompaniments table with pickles and some tiny baked potatoes. Not super cheap but really good about 6000 yen for 3 with beer.More
