The meal was average and I spent 17,000 yen on a steak that was just so lacking in taste...grisly and fatty. 10% service charge for what? Forgetting my wine? Didn't take the plates away? What are you paid to do? Sit around and do nothing?...Will never ever go back to that place...I can't get that time or money back and it is a travesty. Wow...terrible service/average food and they really just didn't care about us at all. Shccked that this place has been in Hiroo as long as it has...even the profitarole was super average. Warning to people to go to other options as this place is overpriced/overbearing/overrated. I hope that things change, but for now, I will never go back unless maybe they change the name and managementMore

My colleague and I went for a second time this year to Il Buttero as we enjoyed it the first time so much. They delivered again a fantastic culinary experience for us. I had a sea bream baked under salt that was super delicious and...served at the table with art. My colleague had a seafood fillet which was also very good. The service is very attentive and always ready. I recommend Il Buttero if you want to have a true Italian experience in Tokyo. I am sure I will go again when traveling in Tokyo.More

It is not always easy to find an authentic italian place in japan. This definitely is one. Italian chef, super food. They even bake their own bread which is also delicious! Can only be recommended!

Delightful tailormade set menu with so many courses of exquisite starters followed by creamy pasta, beef, fish and delicious sauces. We were a gathering of about 20 and also ordered some really excellent wines. It all came to about JPY 13000 per head but from...6:30 until 10:00 the restaurant did not begrudge us the time and the Chef came to greet us. All in all a wonderful experience and a great location: detached house with garden and glass conservatory in the middle of a secret alleyway in Hiroo ( a premier expat real estate area) so full of atmosphere and history. Would return there at the drop of a hat! Great for romantic dates, family evening, larger groups.More

We were staying opposite IL Buttero and decided to try it one evening. The food was phenomenal. The salads and anti pasta are fresh and delicious. My daughter had pasta with clams, and she polished it up. We had beef and it was great. Great...wine and the owner and maitre’d make it feel very authentic. I highly recommend it.More

I like the outdoor seating. Romantic and feels a bit like you're in Italy backyard. Menu was on large pieces of Pink papers. We can see the menu very clearly. My starter was Scallop and mushroom - VERY GOOD. Partner has Caprese salad looks so...yummy and portion is good. Main course I choose the Mixed Fish Grill. Taste good but tuna probably over-cooked. Partner's lamb chop was delicious! I'm disappointed by the selection of wine by the glass. Prosecco was ok. White wine by the glass - none was good. Service is attentive and pleasant. Might come back again, hopefully their wine selection will be better.More

Food was perfect and delicious. Service was questionable. The wait staff is more concerned with up-selling than providing water. I just wanted a glass of water. Waiter stated the tap water was unfiltered. Either to warn me the water quality was bad, or to upsell...water. Next he questioned me about wanting ice. He said the purchased water was already cold, no need for ice! We ordered a bottle of wine (from an ipad) and were questioned about ordering a bottle versus a glass. After waiting 15 minutes we noticed he was standing next to the table. We asked where was the wine and he stated “you want it now?”. His attitude was to question versus suggest. We asked what type of white meat was in the crepes, and he stated “beef”. Maybe it is white beef, but that doesn’t seem plausible. No butter or olive oil was provided with the bread, which were charged for. Overall the food was great, the ambience is very nice for an Italian restaurant in Tokyo. But the waiter definitely made the experience bad.More

I went last night with a colleague and I was very impressed with the atmosphere, cordiality of the staff and chef (who’s Tuscan), and above all with the authenticity and great quality of food. I had scallops appetizer and a seabass baked under salt. A...fantastic meal. Definitely a “go back”.More

I am one of the oddballs that does not visit Japanese restaurants in Tokyo. Simply because good restaurants like II Buttero exists to offer such good cuisine not found in Asia (Asia because, in Europe/Italy of course there are superb restaurants) Faultless food really and...you get a real taste of Italia. The only awkward moment was my partner seems to know the menu better than the waiter? The waiter kept running back and forth to check on our questions on the food menu. Had a Banfi Brunello and it was fabulous after we let the bottle breathe on the table for a good 45 minutes - our experience would be much better if there were decanters provided and more advice on the wine pairing. However that would make this homely comfortable place too snobbish and stiff, probably. So all is good. Enjoyed myself and would visit again for sure if near Hiro-OMore

Il Buttero is located off the main shopping street of Hiro-o. Nice setting even if the interior is a bit old fashioned. I had an excellent tomato soup followed by very good home made pasta cooked al dente as they should be. Kids had pizza...which was OK but not as good as our main dishes (bit too soft in the middle). Waiters are absolutely charming and very efficientMore

There are countless opportunities to shop in the
Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops
that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest
areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's
Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to
recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh
yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast,
Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool.
