About
Ippudo, our ramen restaurant, was first established in 1985 in Hakata, Fukuoka. Currently in 2017, we have over 100 stores throughout Japan. In 1990, our founder, Shigemi Kawahara, entered the Hall of Fame for winning the the ramen competition of the show, "TV Champion" three consecutive times. Then in 2005, he gained the title "Noodle King" after coming in 1st in the "Largest Ramen Competition in History to Decide the Noodle King". In 2008, our first store outside of Japan was opened in New York. Now, we have stores in London, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Sydney, and in other countries all around the world, totaling 60 stores. Ippudo is the force driving the global ramen fever. We innovate and build the "global standard of ramen shops" all over the world by ensuring not only our delicious tasting ramen but also our great service and atmosphere. We will continue to share our authentic tonkotsu ramen, that we have pursued to the highest quality, throughout the world.

Although this is a worldwide chain the ramen at Ippudo is very good. Maybe because I am in Japan so will have to try elsewhere. There are three main types of which I chose the spicy one which had about 5 levels of heat. I chose 3 which was plenty for me. They also do very good gyōza as well. I shall return especially as the shop is only 5 min walk from home.

Love Ippudo Ebisu. It is the original shop I think. They are super nice. Ramen is awesome and the old school atmosphere is great. Gyoza are also great. Love that they have garlic and garlic presses at your seat. Perfect!

We love their ramen and gyoza. We came before the lunch time crowd and got a table straight away. Ordered their special set lunch which came with ramen noodles with soup and also a plate of yummy gyoza. Prefer this to their Roppongi outlet. Very happy with the food quality

I'll have to agree with the consensus; Ippudo has got the ramen game down. I thought so in NYC and I think it's even better over here. With several chains all over Japan, you won't have a hard time finding one and I tell you, it should be on your checklist.
We came 5 minutes before they opened at lunch on a weekday and was surprised to see no line. 1st customers of the day, that's us! I don't think that's the case at night or on weekends since people trickled in as early as 11am right when we got seated. Make sure to plan ahead!
AKAMARU MODERN SPECIAL (¥1,080) is their modern take on a tonkotsu ramen and was an easy pick for me with the black garlic oil that added a depth of flavor in the already thick and creamy broth, super tender chashu pork, and chewy medium-thick noodles that had a good bounce -- order them firm. If you want it spicy, tell your server and they can make it happen. Don't think twice about getting the "SPECIAL" because this one has medium soft-boiled egg that'll make you oooh in pleasure as well as crisp seaweed wrappers for textural contrast. Not quite full yet? Get the "Kaedama" which is an extra order of noodles added to your leftover soup. This you can decide later on and comes in different sizes.
An appropriate and delicious side to go with the ramen is their GYOZA. Crisp outer layer with a scrumptious and tasty filling paired with a delightful yuzu sauce, these dumplings were the real deal.
It's always a relief to see an english menu and a server who speaks english when in Japan. They have both. Ippudo was an awesome way to kick-off our trip and is definitely a must for anyone who loves ramen.

The moment I arrive in Tokyo I hit Ippudo. Great old school atmosphere and friendly staff. Excellent ramen. The gyoza is super yummy. Highly recommended! Prices are very reasonable they also take credit cards now.

I visit this restaurant every time when I visit Tokyo (twice a quarter) and need spicy food.
You can choose the level of spice 1 - 5. I usually go for 3. The cha siew is very good too and I add cabbage/ vegetable to make the meal healthier 😄 (but it is tasty too).
You can skip the gyoza, unless you have craving for both ramen and gyoza at the same time. Oh and it is mini gyoza - so just go for the 10 pieces one.
They have beer too if you like.
They have both bar counter, tables for bigger group and English menu.
Lots of locals and families eating here.

We visited Ippudo twice during our 10 day stay in Tokyo in October – that is how much we enjoyed it! We checked into a hotel nearby on a Saturday afternoon, and as it was chilly and rainy, we decided on Ramen. This place came up in our search, and decided to give it a try that evening. The clientele seemed like a mix of locals and people visiting the area, and the waitstaff was very friendly and helpful when we were ordering.
It was so so good. We each ordered a bowl of ramen and decided to share a half order of the gyoza on the recommendation of the man who took our order. We ended up ordering more gyoza because they were seriously delicious.
Our last night in Tokyo, we were trying to decide if we wanted to try a new restaurant or visit one of our favorites, and we opted for Ippudo again. They did not disappoint!

Loved this place. Had to eat here twice because it was so good the first time. Fast service, delicious bowls, and order a ton of bite-sized dumplings because they are the highlight.

Walked into this chain ramen shop on a rainy night and was greeted warmly by the person by the door who seated me at the counter. Ordering a beer, gyoza and a bowl of ramen I realized that I really feel at home at Ippudo. Been to a few different ones in Tokyo and the one in NYC and there is some consistency between them all. The Japanese ones are definitely better, but it's probably the water, the chef, the flour for the noodle, etc... Anyway, predictable, delicious comfort food that always satisfies. Highly recommended!

I have eaten here many times. Simple menu, great food and quick service. And you can see the kitchen in front of you. Equally good as in Roppongi.

The ramen is excellent. The service was incredibly friendly. The place is comfortable and busy. We were there on a Saturday evening and it was busy but we did not have to wait for a table. Excellent choice for noodles.

Highly recommend eating here if you want some pork ramen done really well. This place is a chain and menus are in English. The staff are very friendly and talk you through everything - even how to get more noodles in your bowl if you have leftover soup and are still hungry. The location is about six minutes walk from the station and it's in a really nice area of Tokyo and lots to see on the way there and back. Away from the crowds too.

Last day in Tokyo and decided to try this place. We were one train stop away in Shibuya. Excellent end to our trip in Tokyo. We had lots of ramen during our stay. This had the lightest broth but full of flavour. I had the spicy soup a #4 which was really hot and loved it! The Gyoza was good which cost us ¥100 for 5 pieces as a add on to our bowl of noodles. Overall an excellent end to our stay in Tokyo.
