As a resident of Tokyo for 23 years I have visited Andy’s many times. The food is amazing, and a plus is that Andy is there to meet and greet. The service is excellent and the especially the fish and the seafood is great. A...bit pricey but really really good. The atmosphere is fantastic. I usually take other foreigners here to get the feel for the izakaya without having to order in Japanese. All in all a great place! Usually need to book. Ganbare Shin Hi-no-moto!More

Excellent seafood, in particular the tuna sashimi and the king crab! The stuffed chicken wing was also delicious. Atmosphere was fun, great for a group dinner, the Yuzu beer is also very good. It was expensive but you're paying for the quality of the food....Reservation needed.More

We heard about Andys from a friend in the UK and as we were in Japan for the Rugby World Cup it seemed fitting we should visit this Rugby Friendly izakaya, we absolutely didn’t regret it The izakaya is very small and unless you get...there early you will need to join the long queue outside. Food is fantastic, we had a collection of sashimi platters and cooked fish. All was delicious and served by smiling, friendly staff who were happy to help us chose the best dishes and went out of their way to provide English translations for the different fish on the menu If you’re visiting Tokyo take the time to find this place it’s well worth it but book, get their early or be ready to queueMore

We ate at Andy's in October 2019 & November 2019, both times the food was fabulous. I had the best plate of Sashimi I have ever eaten, the crab was very fresh & tasty and the oysters were huge and delicious.

Under the train tracks and bustling, we called and made reservations in advance and were glad we had. Table was ready and food was great. Good mix of locals and brits. King crab was great. Soooo much food. We over-ordered. Whoops. Reasonable for Tokyo.

I have heard positive reviews of Andy's Shin Hinomoto, but I must say I was a bit disappointed. The food was alright althoughnothing spectacular. It is also on a slightly expensive side considering the location and the type of venue. However, what I found most...annoying was the service. The waitress was there asking what I was going to drink before I could even take off my coat. The bill was also put on our table 25 minutes before the end of hour 2-hour slot. The place is OK if you are in the neighborhood, but I am not planning to book it again in advance.More

Ordered a beer, got the wrong one. We ordered 3 meals between 3 of us and got them 30 minutes apart. Service is poor, food is average.

This place is just terrible. It's super smokey, way overheated and filled with foreign tourists. I suspect many of them don't know what a good izakaya is like. Every dish is already made, God knows when, and comes out a minutes after you order. Everything...we ordered tasted funny and the owner, Andy, has an attitude. Just because this place is packed by foreigners every night, his attitude shows "I did you a favor by letting you in." (I wish he didn't). To an izakaya connoisseur like myself, this place gets The Worst Izakaya in Tokyo prize. I suspect his other izakaya Hinomoto is about the same. Avoid it at all costs.More

We turned up early and so we waltzed in with no reservation. It is very casual and a little cramped but very charming. Andy is English and attracts a mixed crowd of locals and tourists. He goes to the market every day and the fish...is super fresh. We had some wonderful chili prawns, tempura, whole red snapper, wonderful swordfish and the crowning glory which was the tuna jaw ( highly recommended as the meat is very rich). The food was awesome. Beer and wine are available. Prices are reasonable. I would heavily recommend this restaurant.More

We were there during the Rugby World Cup. There were lots of folks either connected with the tournament or serious fans in the restaurant which made it incredibly fun. The food portions are huge and very inexpensive for what you get. It was fairly crowded...and noisy when we were there so somewhat difficult to hear. It is also a very casual restaurant so not for those looking for anything fancy or fine dining. The sauteed fish and crab legs were amazing! Excellent service too.More
