We had a snack at this place on the recommendation of a Kyoto local and then went back tonight for a meal. The dumplings were fresh and very flavoursome. Staff helpful, food came reasonably quickly & well priced. If you love dumplings then you must...More

Their gyoza is the best I've ever had! I would def come back if I'm ever in Kyoto again. Loved it!! The wait was LONG, but this is also typical anywhere you go in Japan that's worth trying.

As a family, we love Gyoza, but these were phenomenal! The Shrimp were our favourites, and we ordered seconds. We also topped it off with fresh pickled cucumber and cabbage, which was perfect for the warm summer evening. The staff were friendly and the place...More

The gyoza here are cheap and tasty! We were seated within a few minutes (around 6:45pm). Would definitely recommend the pork, the shrimp, and the ginger gyozas. We ordered seconds!

Variety of Gyoza in a small and casual spot. We stopped by for an early dinner to avoid the crowds and lines and got seated right away. Great and efficient service. Agree with others that I don't think the food would be worth it if...More

Very popular gyoza cheap eats! Fun, casual, great gyoza in a popular & casual local. Tasty gyoza but probably not worth waiting for if the queue is to long. Happy to recommend.

We went to Chaochao because of the good reviews on TripAdvisor. But I don't really understand the hype. The gyoza taste ok but nothing special. The vegetarian gyoza - which I was really looking forward to - were rather tasteless and the fillings seemed kind...More

Went there for dinner- fast service and good food. Resonantly priced, looking at approx 3000 yen per person for drinks and food. Waited approx 1 hour- but that is standard in Japan. There are no vegetarian options, other reviews we read about this restaurant stated...More

Pontocho
Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's
most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow

Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life,
making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to
come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and

They serve many different types of gyozas. My group of 5 included two vegetarians, two meat eaters and one pescatarian. We also enjoyed a plate of chocolate gyozas. I don't know about halal.
