This is a fantastic cafe hidden at Seimeicho, between the Kyoto Shiyakusho Maeeki station and the Marutamachi subway station. It is an unassuming two-story traditional building lined with various plants and bamboos by its large windows, thus hiding the interior from the passers-by. There is...More

We found this place in the Lonely Planet guide and were so pleased that we visited! Food was amazing: I enjoyed every mouthful! Not a huge selection of food on the menu but everyone’s meals looked very tasty: presentation superb. Venue unusual and very stylish....More

In a converted Machiya house and with a great Western bakery next door this place was worth seeking out.

This cafe is nice to relax and have some coffee: I opted for a plum tart and a soy latte and I left really happy. They offer a great range of food, which I didn’t have the chance to taste (however everything looks delicious). If...More

This cafe is fantastic - great food (and a large menu in English), comfy couches, and fun decor with books and records on display. Only downside: it allows smoking indoors, making it very unpleasant for non-smokers if you happen to be there when a smoker...More

Café has a nice ambience. Coffee not too bad but not impressed by the serving staff. They do serve food besides the coffee. Note: They would want every customer to order at least one drink.

Just as well we found this cafe on our last day in Kyoto, we could have spent way over our budget! The food is wonderful but it’s quite expensive. Mixed feelings about the table service.

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its

peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of
