We were not sure what we were letting ourselves in for staying here, but from the moment of arriving through to the evening meal and beyond it was our best stay in our four day road trip of the area. Their website description and photos do not do it justice so we had a pleasant surprise upon seeing our lovely... More

We decided to go for a drive and lunch and I came across this pub on the Taste Card site. It was well worth the visit. We had a lovely meal stuffed mushroom with garlic, cous cous and goats cheese . Lovely flavors. Then I had Gammon and my husband the cowboy burger Both cooked to perfection and lovely combination.... More

We were recommended to this old English Pub by the owners of the BnB we were staying in (Watergardens BnB in Trowbrdge) and it was a great recommendation. Serving Wadsworths beers was a great start ... and the food was just a compliment to the beers. We both enjoyed a very good and filling meal that came to less than... More

Having previously called in here over the years and found a pleasant but unremarkable fare , I recently was in search of somewhere for a meal on a Sunday afternoon, being close and also a participant in taste card drew me to here , well what a surprise the food was absolutely brilliant and then to add a bonus to... Went here with our host and her son. My wife had a prawns curry with rice dish and I had a sweet potato pocket with mashed potato & gravy and peas & kale. My wife loved her dish and I was happy with the 2 pints of ale that washed down what I ate. The fun was walking to and... More

First visit to this welcoming, traditional pub for lunch on a sunny Saturday. Excellent value, quality pub food in a pleasant rear garden.

Booked in for Sunday lunch with my 93 year old mother. We both chose the roast beef (locally produced) which was almost "melt in the mouth" and full of flavour. Served with Yorkshire pud, "real" roast potatoes, peas with shredded cabbage, mashed swede and red cabbage - and good gravy. Another really good thing is that they offer smaller portions,... More

Came with a Groupon deal, brilliant experience. Fish and chips, very special, with home made tartare sauce, minted mashed peas, chunky home made chips, bater light fish. Made room for home made ice cream and coffee as sat in garden. Service was excellent as was welcome. Def come again, garden in summer, log fire in winter ! Perfect. ,
