We ate at Ahimsa twice for dinner. Overall, the food was very good and flavourful, but we were underwhelmed by the value for money and the long wait times to receive our food. The entire “main dish” menu is vegan. They also offer desserts in...their other cafe, but I’m not sure if they’re vegan. We had the jackfruit tacos and mushroom pasta, both of which were excellent and had great flavours. They were both simple flavourful dishes, but we found that they were pricey for the portions and simplicity of the dishes. On both visits to Ahimsa, we waited between 45 minutes and an hour for our food, which, given the simplicity of the food and the overall small size of the restaurant, was disappointing. We were also confused by the layout, as there is a cafe serving coffee/tea/sweets, a different cafe serving main dishes, and a separate bar. They also operate a guesthouse, which complicated the layout. Perhaps more signs would help direct customers to where they want to go. We were happy to have gone and tried the food, as it is really good, but we decided to not return after our two visits because of the concerns above. Definitely recommend trying it, especially because it is vegan, but expect a longer wait for your food.More

We had a range of experiences here so it’s rather strange to give it an overall review. The smoothie bowl was fantastic, as was the pumpkin curry. And our first visit (out of 2) the service was (relatively) quick. On a different night, the veggies...were all charred to a black crisp and the wait was well over an hour - there was only one other couple. So, we would suggest you try out the place, but know that it could go either way.More

The food was good but we waited more than an 1 hour before we got the food, even if there were no other guests. We ordered from the menu but after half an hour the same waiter came and told us they didn’t have it....The place is really cool and relaxing.More

We have visited a couple of times during our stay in Mirissa. There’s awesome repurposed furniture, and the food was delicious. Also highly recommend the “Boko” drink if you like coconuts! It was AMAZING.

I was dieing in the heat after going to see the coconut trees and needed a pick me up and air conditioning before continuing on. This place was a blessing. I spotted it coming out of the side road and popped in. It's really small...inside with a few pillows (only two tables) maybe four people can sit down in total. There is a lot more seating outside! The air conditioning and fast wifi kept me inside and I was lucky to get the last pillow cushion seat that I gladly sat in for a good hour or two. Service was excellent and fast and the iced americano was heavenly. I asked for it weak with one shot and it was perfectly chilled and not too strong. Refreshing in the heat. I didn't plan to but I set my eyes on an energy ball with coconut which was perfect and needed for a pick me up. They have a small but more than sufficient choice of hot and cold drinks. Coffee is the speciality and carefully made to order. Vegan is key here! There are some cold bottled drinks and a few sweet treats on display. I believe they may offer smoothie bowls and a small selection of other items but I did not bother to look so cannot comment here. I cannot fault the iced americano or energy ball. I loved it. Healthy and the pick me up that I needed with the added bonus of a lovely chilled relaxing cafe and fast wifi (a rare find in Sri Lanka). The place was clean and service was good. I believe they offer yoga and surfing classes as well. If you are going to the coconut trees which most people will when in Mirissa, I would highly recommend stopping here before or after. They close early.More
