We stopped in just before the severe Covid-19 measures took effect. Large portions, fresh made on a quiet Sunday. Nothing special but reminded us of Britain. 19 pounds for 2, high but expected. I appreciated the reduced salt on the chips, so many places make...them too salty for me.More

My wife and I plus two friends called in at "The Rock" after completing a tour of Gibraltar at around 3 pm. No one else was in the restaurant and it was not a very nice day. I think the time of day might have...effected our experience. However the Moroccan cook and the English lady who appeared to be running the establishment were friendly and it did not take long for our fish and chips to appear. Cost wise it was reasonable. I guess having read the positive write up "The Rock" has in the Rough Guide I was expecting something similar to the fish n' chips I am used to in Yorkshire. I will just say we were a little disappointed and leave it at that.More

Gibraltar is very congested & expensive. Rock Fish & Chips is more reasonably priced than many, but still most expensive fish & chips I have ever purchased!

Tourist trap without surprise. The fish and chips was ok but nothing special. Glasses dirty with lipstick from previous glests. I would not recommend it, try to find another place.

The two senior citizens waiting tables were the rudest staff I have ever had the misfortune to come across. The way they spoke to us was unbelievable, we left without ordering as did two other tables, they were clearly having a bad day but don’t...take it out on your customers, spoilt our day.More

Me and my family wanted to have a drink in the square and decided to take a seat at this place. A waiter came up and took our drinks order, 10 minutes later another waiter approached us and asked if we were having food, we...said no just drinks and he said ‘only food’ and pointed to his right (I can only assume he was pointing at another restaurant) so we informed him that another waiter had accepted our drinks order about 10 minutes ago but we were yet to receive them. He walked away and came back about a minute later and asked who took our order, we pointed out the waiter (wearing a red t-shirt) who took our order and he walked away again. A further 3 or so minutes passed and the waiter came back again and said he spoke to the waiter who took our drinks order and said ‘oh yes, I forgot’ and he then again told us drinks only when food was ordered. So we decided to get up and walk away, if somewhere doesn’t want our business that’s absolutely fine and to be honest I am not sure why they were happy to let go paying customers as it was not busy at all! As we went to get up the waiter said it was fine for us to stay and have a drink as the previous waiter had already accepted our order. Throughout us staying for a drink we saw the same waiter turn down orders for drinks multiple times, and yet not one table was taken for food orders, turning business away! During our time there my husband went to the toilet and had to wait for the original waiter (in the red t-shirt) to come out of the toilet (he was in there for a while) and when the waiter finally came out he did NOT wash his hands, wait for it... and then proceeded to the handle food! Further on from this the same waiter was working on the ice cream part of the restaurant and dropped some tubs (used for putting ice cream in) on the dirty floor (outside) and put them straight back in the pile to be used! Seriously! This place has no manners, unorganised and unhygienic staff!!!More

I did the typical tourist thing and ordered the fish and chips, the portions were great and the food ok. But a beer and some fish for 25euro is outrageous. It’s usually one of the cheapest things on the menu. I will say however, this...place is priced for tourist so this is probably the norm in Gibraltar. Overall I’d rather wait till I cross the border to eat.More

I sat & waited to be served for ages - waiter kept walking past me avoiding eye contact, although I was sat at a table for 2 at the closest point to the restaurant and could not have been 'missed'. After 10 minutes I got...the hint & went elsewhere. I may say that the previous day a group of us had gone there & they refused to serve us just drinks (although it was only 11-30 & not yet the lunchtime 'rush') so I suppose they are just very picky about their clientele.Their loss!More
