Read the reviews only after sitting down on the terrace. Should have done that earlier. It‘s not a clean place, cushions are dirty and everything seems a bit sleazy. Ordered 2 soft drinks and 1 piece of cheesecake. It actually tasted better than it looked....Service was ok. The real bummer is the exchange rate⚡️More

The worst place I have visited for food after being sat at a grubby table with broken chairs and after we were eventually served drinks we had to ask a couple of times to have our food order taken. Whilst waiting for our food we...noticed everyone around us were having “issues” with their bills, I’d ordered a ploughman’s lunch and a portion of cheesy chips. What arrived was nothing short of a joke, grated powdery cheese with 2 slices of reformed ham of some description a wilted side salad and a stale roll. I asked to have the food taken away as it was not edible and was then asked to pay the full amount which I refused. Please eat somewhere else as this place has no idea what they are doing!More

It was raining - it looked OK from the outside. I’m not sure what to say. My partners normal radiant complexion has returned, but she does look green again when I mention our visit to the Angry Friar. All was OK - and then she...went to the loo while I settled the bill. It tipped her over the edge - she reckons it hadn’t been cleaned since Napoleon was last on the island. Anyway - a quirky little place pretending to be like a pub in England. It is most definitely not a pub in England - if there are any like it in England, I’m sure the environmental agency has shut it down. It’s perfect for those with a strong constitution. It is cheap dirty and sticky.More

Called in for lunch on arriving in Gibraltar and walking into town. Had fish and chips which was ok but frozen fish and oven chips. Not the best but filled a corner. It does have a pleasant outside terrace

Don’t expect too much but what you do get is great, not the most impressive too look at but all staff very friendly and food was nice …just what we wanted.

Honestly, we chose the Angry Friar mostly because the previous reviews were either very, very good or very, very bad and I thought that was very, very odd. Also went because we were hungry and it was around the corner from the hotel. Food was...very good, reasonably priced, beer was good, waiter seemed busy but not rude and we were served quickly so had to conclude that the previous good comments were spot on, the previous bad comments were the product of high maintenance customers.More

Good pub grub, served by people who will remember you and what you drink, and will stop and talk to you about anything the same as the locals who drink there. They genuinely seem happy to see you when you walk in.

Dirty tables, smelly carpets, dirty cutlery (salad bits stuck to knife) and clearly microwaved food. This is the worst place I've ever sat down in. We ordered fish and chips, a salad and buffalo wings.. as soon as it arrived on our dirty table, we...shortly left and found a real restaurant that offers real food. If you were to ask a bunch of seven year old children to setup a pub and offer food then this is exactly what it would look like.More

We went after work in the evening. The bar staff clearly don’t want to be there to serve customers. The epitome of service with a scowl. Toilets - awful. Needs a good makeover, deep clean and tidy up….

I loved this place! The food was really good but the staff is what really made it great. The outside was packed so we sat inside and the bartender was quick with the drinks and made us feel very comfortable. The staff was super busy...but quick to get you something if you asked.More

Usually manage several visits here but only managed two this time. Both visits were made during the day and the pub was busy. We had some cheesey chips one day which as stated were chips with cheese melted over them. Nothing special but what you...could expect from a pub. There was a good advertised menu on a board inside. Sat inside as we do not like the plastic covered area outside. Went to the bar and served quickly and friendly staff.More

Stopped for a drink and staff friendly enough. I ordered a pint Tribute a real ale, cloudy, too cold and gassier than lager, the worst pint I have ever been served. Went inside to use the toilets, dirty and untidy inside, sticky carpet. When using...the toilets I had to breath through my mouth due to the over powering stench of urine. Thank goodness we did not order food, all in in all a filthy dump.More

Was looking forward to this visit as my late father used it in the 70s whilst serving in the navy.. Dirty ...Shocking food and a miserable landlady.... Plus point 👉 the young lad serving was very polite and good at his job

Around £7 or £8 (maybe 13 or 14AUD)- it’s cheap and filling but the quality isn’t great. We thought the Clipper was better and still pretty cheap. Better still but more expensive were Casa Brachetto and the Landings.
