We had a celebratory birthday lunch with friends and the food was fresh and flavorful. The table had a beautiful view of the orchard. Our meals were nicely presented and tasty.

During the summer months, Merridale Bistro offer Pizza Sunday Nights with live music. The menu is limited to wood-oven baked pizza (and one other option for non-pizza eaters), and the type of pizza changes from week to week. We ordered the meat pizza ($16) and were surprised that it didn't come with a tomato based sauce. The pizza was small... More

I would guess that I've been to Merridale at least a dozen times. The food on the menu stays current, changing seasonally. The food is absolutely delicious, local, sourced perfectly and the flavours are unique to this Bistro. Add the cider into the mix and you've stumbled on one of the best secrets on Vancouver Island. In the winter, the... More

Gorgeous day, beautiful grounds set amonst apple orchard. Lovely rustic restaurant serving sampler dishes as well as fresh entrees. Would definitely return. Great place to bring out of town guests.

The pizza toppings change but nothing beats a flight of their cider, with good music and good wood fired pizza. This a great place to spend any Sunday summer evening.

We went here for lunch during a winery tour on my bachelorette weekend and they did such an amazing job! For a big group they did pizzas and salad that were absolutely delicious. They also did our cider tasting right at the table. I am so impressed with the service and quality of food. Thanks for a great day!

This is a great place to visit to learn about how Cider is made, to have some tasters of very good cider and to relax and enjoy a meal (or an overnight stay in a Yurt) in a beautiful setting. Food is good and they have a daily special including a vegetarian option. We've had many of the items on... More

Thank you for taking the time to give us this great feedback. We are glad you had such a great time at Merridale. We definitely recommend making reservations at the Merridale Bistro ahead of time as well. Especially after the sun comes out for the summer, our bistro patio is a Cowichan Valley hotspot. We like to offer as many... More

We took out-of-town visitors here for lunch, but unfortunately were very disappointed. We had reservations and the bistro wasn't very busy. The location is very pretty and we were seated on the outdoor patio. Drinks were ordered and we waited and waited and waited. Our server passed us many times without a word, and we had to finally call her... More

We are sorry that you were disappointed by your experience here. Sometimes in the summer it can get a bit hectic—though this is no excuse for your poor service. We hope you give us another chance to give you the great service we are known for, and thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. More

Beautiful afternoon out. Brick oven pizza was very good and the gin and tonic was amazing. Less bitter and more fresh, was sooo good. Had a walk around and was very pleasant.

Description
As you travel up or down Vancouver Island, stop in at our orchard bistro for lunch. Enjoy local cuisine, a large patio overlooking our orchard, and, of course, apple cider hand crafted just steps from the bistro's kitchen. Located in the middle of a working cider farm, this unique Vancouver Island restaurant combines cider pairings and seasonal menu items inspired by nearby Cowichan Valley farmers, vintners, and cheese-makers. The restaurant has two eating areas. You'll find the main room with its traditional fieldstone fireplace and spacious tables. The main restaurant also features a granite cider tasting bar - perfect for a cider and some conversation while your lunch is being prepared. Guests can also enjoy their meal on the large covered patio where you will find plenty of outdoor space to sit with friends, sip coffee, or sample ciders and local wines.
