We ate at Sol y Mar numerous times during our visit. The food was always delicious and the staff very attentive. The prices are the most reasonable in Protrero Beach and we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

We eat at Sol y Mar frequently. The seafood is always fresh and the preparation is always delicious. In my opinion, they have the best fried shrimp around! The seabass Kimberly is a popular dish, and you can get it with mahi mahi if you prefer. Also, you can ask for the Casanova sauce which had baby shrimp in a butter wine sauce. If Tres Leche is available, be sure and order it for dessert!

We enjoyed a Xmas eve dinner here. The service was friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere relaxed. The local dishes, particularly the casados and the ceviche, were very good and fresh. Tables are spacious and overall I would say that seating is more comfortable than at some other sodas. As in much of this area of CR, prices are moderate, not cheap.

I went here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I ordered the fried fish and when it came time to pay the bill we realized they were charging us about 50% more for the dish than the value of it. We paid 13,000 colones for each fish... that's just absurd! When when spoke to the manager he just laughed... Talk about customer service, right? They also charged for 10% tip and said this was not optional. Since when is the tip not optional? No wonder this place is always empty. Do yourself a favour and avoid. You'll get better service and better food for half the cost at a Soda.

We ate here several times during our month in Potrero. Really a family place with some very good options. Nothing too fancy, just good home cooking, Ceviche is a stand out. Grilled chicken came with veggies and potatoes. Whole snapper and fish and chips were just okay. Margaritas, however, are fine and service is top drawer. Definitely worth a stop and attracts a mixed clientele of expats, tourist and locals.

WOW! I feel so lucky we stumbled upon this place. We had a GREAT meat here. The Mahi Mahi (grilled and Al vino) were delicious and so was the lobster. Quick and attentive service. We will go back!

We get takeouts at least 3 times a week from Sol y Mar. the fish and chicken cassada are delicious. They make the best guacamole and chips. Friendly, clean and delish.

This is one of our favorite stops while we are in the Potrero area. The sea bass kimberley is a must and we are happy they have kept it on their menu for the last 10 + years.
It's soooo hard to try something else, but all the food coming from the kitchen looks amazing.
Can't wait to return!

We really like this place. Great food and good prices.
The Casado is a local dish of chicken and is very good. The chicken here in Costa Rica is great. Very soft and great flavor.
Vegetables are fresh and delicious.
Service is always good. And good parking.

If you are visiting Potrero this is one of the few remaining local sodas to eat. They have great costa rican food. Stop in I highly recommend it.
