Laid back place to have breakfast or lunch. A friendly staff serves up good breakfast selections with the chili cheese dog and arroz con chorizo my lunch favorites.

The food and atmosphere were very homey, and down to earth. It seemed to be a popular place for locals to hang out, and there was a nice feeling of community. The food was tasty, well-prepared, and was like home cooking. This was a great...More

Once we found the Shack we basically ate breakfast there everyday for the rest of trip. Their waffles were great. I had the tipico breakfast which was exactly how it was supposed to taste. My friends loved the smoothies, but I always drank their guaro...More

Every Wednesday I play 9 at Conchal with my buds and we go to (not do) lunch. One of my favorites is hitting the Shack for their chili. My waitress Jossy knows how to serve it... Dry, hot and with rice and onions. This is...More

Went for breakfast. Coffee was basically Maxwell House that was sitting in a percolator for hours. Ordered the breakfast burrito — the rice was so dry and over cooked that a piece actually poked into my gums. Ouch!! It looked like it was leftover from...More

My group’s food ranged from ok (the veggie scramble) to meh (the breakfast burrito) to unpalatable (the oatmeal — more like cold breakfast soup.) The service ranged from merely competent to disdainful. Waitress was clearly more concerned with whatever she was scrolling through on her...More

Yes they are. At the time we were there they did the exchange rate as 500 colones was equal to 1 US dollar when charging your card. We had a card that didn't charge any international fee also so it was a pretty good deal.
