Unmissable culinary getaway in Bali

From the practical and simplified quick digital reservation system on the AMICI website, to the welcome by the doorman at the taxi door, to the arrival welcome by the staff who speaks btw a professional English, the arrival at the kitchen open to the restaurant with a highly qualified brigade prepared a high quality Italian dish for us around the tasting of a wine proposed by the qualified sommelier. A treat and above all an experience that I recommend for those who want to experience a culinary experience with high customer service and at the right price. I will come back especially the brunch offered a jazz group for a cozy atmosphere, a treat for the senses.

The beautiful interior of the Amici restaurant makes the atmosphere great, foreigners do not have to worry about poor communication, the staff at the venue is very friendly, each dish will be carefully explained. Couldn't understand the Waiter what was saying or trying to explain. The cocktail ordered at the entrance bar had no taste whatsoever. Bar stools were wiggling and were not stable. The inside dining area was very hot, air conditioning was not optimized to the ideal temperature. Truffle Ravioli had no taste of truffle at all whatsoever. Absolute waste of money. The waiter offered to debone the fish, but because of poor light, and unskilled staff, so many bones were left and spoilt the whole dish. Since they have an open kitchen and chefs cooking constantly with their bare hands, we noticed one of the chef scrolling his phone and checking his messages during cooking. Phones are the dirtiest and full of viruses. Yuuks. Missed clicking the picture. Used dirty tablecloths mountain was kept piling in front of us in the main dining area. The presentation of the food and Interiors was good. But it was not at all worth the hype and the money you pay here. There are much better Italian restaurants with better service in that area one can go with good taste, better pricing, and service.

Good afternoon, Daniel. I am sorry to read your bad feedback and I promise that we will get your advise and use them in order to improve. Last week we had an issue with the aircon that has been promptly fixed, I apologise for the inconvenience. Our cocktails are made to be enjoyed in their balance but we are always happy to do whatever we can in order to satisfy your palate, when the issue in mentioned to the management on the spot. Truffle-wise, we use exclusively fresh Italian black truffle without enhancer and it's surprising to hear that the ravioli weren't tasty, it's one of our most popular and loved dishes. I am sorry about the language barrier, everyone of our staff speaks English but not all of them are fluent or super confident. I apologise for the fish not cleaned properly, I will look into the matter and better instruct our servers. Our Chef apologies about them using the phone, they do so exclusive to check on orders and communication with the suppliers and always wash their hands after. We do have both soap and sanitazer at the kitchen counter for hygiene purpose and we do really care about cleaniness. The table mats and napkins you saw piled are at the collection point where the staff divide the used plates and those items (it's our pass area) and from there are directly moved to the basket at the first floor. Please call the restaurant and ask for my number, I am always available for a chat and it will be my pleasure to personally look after you on your next visit. Pretentious dining in an area that only panders to those who look the part.

When arriving, we were greeted by a host that looked my husband and I up and down and asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t so were advised in a very curt and short manner to sit at the bar while they attempt to find a table for us. While waiting at the bar, we witnessed two other parties arrive with one being advised to sit at the bar also and the other, a party of two, taken straight through. I am certain I heard they too, did not have a reservation. We were not casually underdressed and if the restaurant was booked, we would have accepted this with no problems. The restaurant was not, we could see the venue and the vast number of empty tables. The same host then approached the bar, gave the same “up and down” look and advised us that they were still trying to find a table for us. It was at this point, we advised that we would only stay for one drink and leave. Very pretentious and would not recommend this atmosphere to anyone who wants relaxed dining in the Seminyak area. I have no doubt that the food may be delightful however, the un-welcoming and rude demeanour of the staff were deplorable.

Good day, Annalysse, I am sorry if you found the attitude of our staff un-welcoming, I can ensure you that, as per our policy, everyone is welcome to AMICI and our first goal is to satisfy your needs and desires. We do sit people at the bar while checking for a table and, if someone walked pass by you, it means that a reservation was made for sure. No-one get a different treatment compared to the others in our venue. Since I am always in the restaurant as well as the restaurant manager and assistants manager, I would have loved to know this issue on the spot in order to be helpful on finding an immediate solution. It happens to have the dining area looking empty sometime but my reservation team knows the arrival time of all the bookings and, if we don't give away any tables is just because the guests will be arriving in a matter of 20/30 mintues, which is not enough time to provide a proper lunch/dinner service to other guests. Nothing matter most than the overall experience and we don't want to rush anyone. Our host apologies personally and wants you to know that there was no intention either to sounds rude or to give a bad attitude whatsoever, and I apologies as well for such an uncomfortable feeling you had to deal with. Please, give us a call and my team will provide you my personal number to talk more if you wish. I hope to have you again in Amici and I will look after you by myself. Not what i expected

After hearing rave reviews from Bali natives and online, i booked Amici for my wife’s 50th birthday dinner over a month ago. We were so excited to dine there but were unfortunately surprised by the end result. It started well with an enthusiastic greeting and being sat comfortably indoors. We were constantly asked if all was ok by multiple waiters and even an impeccably dressed gentleman in a cream suit, whom i assumed was the owner. Our food orders were taken and i was surprised that the drinks order was taken at the same time. I assumed aperitifs would be served while we perused the menu. In fact, the starters came before our cocktails. Foodwise, the burratta was delicious as was the octopus but the fried zucchini flowers a let down. Thick stodgy batter and over salted. Also came too quickly after ordering and i was wondering if it had been precooked and left on the pass. The mains were where the disappointment came. My son had ordered a pizza and it arrived but then there was no sign of any of the other three main courses. We could see the open plan finishing station that nothing was going on with the three chefs, one of whom was busy checking his phone. We had to ask twice when our dinners would arrive as this being a family celebration dinner we wanted to eat together. We kept getting apologies and told it would be five - ten minutes, which is an age in food service. When our three ravioli main courses finally did arrive it did so with one of the chefs apologising that it was due to poor communication. Not a great look. The raviolis themselves were good, as was the pizza but by now the mood had been deflated. Incidentally, the broccoli side dish i ordered did not turn up - but i wasn’t charged for it. We appreciated the glass of champagne as way of apology but it did not make up for the poor service. We were served a complimentary desert this being my wife’s birthday dinner which was accompanied by a half hearted rendition of Happy Birthday by two embarrassed looking waiters. There was also no sign of the impeccably dressed man after our initial conversation with him at the start of the evening. We don’t know if the service issues we had had been escalated to him or if he knew but wasn’t concerned. We left dinner on a lower note than when we arrived - surprised as this was to be a special night. All in all, the food was reasonable but perhaps a little inconsistent. What was surprising was the service. We were constantly asked of everything was ok, up until the main course issue and then after that nothing. This review isn’t to bemoan our wait staff as communication issues occur. Its to let the management know that perhaps some upping of their game is called for in trying to ensure the customer has a good experience and leaves their restaurant in a good mood. Watching all the chefs talking with each other and looking at their phones while we sat there waiting for our late main courses was not a fun experience. Im sorry to say that we wont be back.

As our Head Chef told you, there has been a miscommunication, to serve your kid first, and there was nothing that could have been done to undo that. I do understand how important is to enjoy a meal all together, especially while celebrating such an important occasion and I apologise on behalf of Amici's crew about what happened. I would loved to come back to your table and discuss the matter together and, again, I'm sorry if the issue has been taken with less consideration that the deserved one. Our staff should have kept following your table with the same attentiveness and I should have been involved in the situation. Regarding Chefs using phones, during the evening time they must communicate with our suppliers and place orders for the ingredients; having a fully open kitchen, you can assist at the back-end operations that allows the brigade to be ready to execute our menu. I promise you that we will treasure your experience to make Amici grows and do better and, on your next visit, I'll personally looking after you to guarantee your highest satisfaction. Went there confidently expecting services much superior to those felt and experienced given the reputation read on certain reviews Mixed impression Noisy interior room, a table of regulars nearby for whom the service was very attentive and fast, unlike our table where we waited 40 minutes between the 1st and 2nd course The glasses of red wine which seemed inviting to us were, over the course of the meal, wines that were almost chapralised and yes, the bottom of the bottle had been poorly kept open since the day before or who knows more....we did not dare to complain about it. ..the pizzas were fortunately our consolation because the dough was excellent and really tasty but frankly paying 100€ for 2 pasta dishes and 2 pizzas we did not dream of and used to Michelin-starred and gastronomic restaurants we are really surprised to charge such prices in bali In addition, the room is very noisy, the tables are too close and the parade of photos with the manager is a little annoying....it lacks refinement and too much bling for us Class is also a bit of humility and discretion We don't like this misinformation with customers who come to be seen

We came to the restaurant, at first we could not sit on good seats (all booked, not enough people in the hall), we were put on the terrace on the sofa, water from the air conditioner started dripping on us from above, then we were put in the hall at a normal table. The menu is incomprehensible, we had to call the waiter to tell and advise, it is extremely difficult to understand on your own. We ordered pasta with prawns and risotto, we waited for a long time, although there was not full seating at all. They brought us just an incomprehensible pile on the plate, like someone's vomit. Just terrible presentation and I'm not talking about the taste. Absolutely boring, asked to bring parmesan to somehow brighten up the horror. As for the risotto, it was just a baby rice porridge that didn't even have parschutto, even though it's supposed to be there. Т Had dinner at Mauri Italian restaurant last night, yes it's a bit more expensive but the level is 1000 times higher, it doesn't even compare in the slightest. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The best Italian restaurant in Bali. Authentic, beautiful and a delight on all senses

Firstly we were greeted by a handsome Italian man called Simone who instantly makes you feel so welcome. Walking in, It was like we had been transported out of the hustle and bustle of the busy seminyak streets and into a beautiful Mediterranean courtyard. There is a stunning central bar which is where I suggest you take a drink at first. We did and it’s a lovely way to start the night. We were delighted that there was also a very good jazz band playing with the most amazing saxophonist! After drinks we decided to stay seated in the garden area as all the tables are beautiful but we liked to watch the band and still had a good view of the open kitchen in the background. It really is like stepping into a theatre, there’s so many parts to this venue and they all work perfectly together creating a wonderful show! For the food, well wow, there were so many dishes we wanted to try so we picked a few to share to start. The amici ravioli have a really lovely story behind them and come wrapped in a napkin to simply pick up and eat with your hands. Definitely try these! The Uovo too was our favourite antipasti! A real treat and something I had never tried before. For mains we couldn’t resist more incredible homemade pasta. The duck ravioli was amazing! And the truffle one! Then the true test of an Italian restaurant, it’s tiramisu! Amici’s version is so good, we ordered an extra portion to take home. The staff and the service was 5 star. The ambience and decor is beautiful and most importantly the food is outstanding. You can see and feel the passion that’s going into this place. A truly Authentic Italian (with Italian staff,) in the heart of Bali. I admire the head chef for creating this kind of food in Bali.

Spectacular dining in a warm atmosphere

Fantastic food, ambiance and staff. Paco and Simone made us feel like best friends with the greatest attention. A quick chat to the friendly chefs led us to amazing recommendations of Indonesian wagu, barramundi (personally prepared and presented by Simone) and the most amazing pizza I’ve ever had! We spent the night in their fine company and enjoyed a tastefully funky mix of music is spectacular surroundings,.. going back for sure and bringing my friends! I was so distracted by the great company and food and music that I didn’t even think to get a photo to share :)

We have eaten at lots of great restaurants in Bali but Amici’s has become our all-time favourite hands down. We have now been back 3 times in one week because Paco and his amazing team always treat us like family and the food is extraordinary. The signature cocktails are really creative and the front bar area is the ideal setting for pre-dinner drinks. Paco encouraged us to try the tuna carpaccio pizza as we would probably never order something so unusual but it was so unbelievably good we order it every time. The pasta dishes are yummy with the Eggplant Parmagiana a standout. Try the Max’s Chardonnay and Leuwen Estate wines for perfect food pairing. The staff are a big part of the experience as they are SO friendly and we always have a lot of fun when we are there. I know this review sounds like we are friends of the owners but I assure you we don’t know them and are independent travellers who stumbled across this great joint. If you’re in Bali you can’t miss it.

Amazing dining experience

Clearly a restaurant that I recommend! Easy to access, parking right in front. Small cozy and design terrace with a nice bar. The restaurant part is quite dark with soft lighting that immerses us in a warm atmosphere. Open kitchen with the possibility of seeing the chef and the cooks preparing everything right before our eyes. (I love this concept!) We opted for the chef's menu and it was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the Carpaccio Di Mango as well as the Risotto Al Latte. Not to mention the dessert which is one of the best I have eaten in almost 4 months in Bali!
