Lezay has a good market on Tuesday and Saturday, well worth a trip if you are in the area. When you are there eat at l'assiette. Good, interesting food, well cooked. Local crowd shows that it has wide appeal. Four courses plus coffee 14 euros weekday lunch, acceptable carafe wine.

We visited this restaurant on a balmy summer's evening and chose to sit outside in the garden. Our initial impression was that the tables were tatty and the garden could have been made into a more attractive environment. I'm so glad we didn't let this put us off. We had a fantastic meal and our surroundings were soon forgotten. The... More

Food very good; excellent menu and good cook. But if there are more than a small number of diners the service is very very slow. Today an hour and a half for two courses plus coffee and cheese. And the lady serving has a take it or leave it approach. A pity - one extra pair of hands and this... More

We stopped in the quiet town of Lezay for lunch on a Sunday and found this little restaurant called "L'assiette". It didn't look much from the outside, but inside was bright, tidy and welcoming. We were greeted immediately by the young couple who run this little restaurant. The wife (with her 2-year-old daughter in-tow) looked after us very well. The... More

We chose this restaurant because there was nothing else open on cold wet Saturday. As we passed through the doorway it reminded us of the book 'Day of the Triffids' due to the greenery hanging off the ceiling. The decor is quite sterile and cold with old pallets converted into room dividers and a coffee table. There is a rather... More

There's not much choice in Lezay but this is OK. Changing menu is displayed on a chalk board. 3 courses €20 or you can have fewer courses and pay less. 3 choices on each course. No apparent vegetarian option. Food was tasty and quite well presented but the lack of any sort of potatoes was a disappointment. Starters were variable... More

This delightful little restaurant right opposite the market in Lezay in the Poitou Charentes is a real find for a good, simple but beautifully cooked lunch or dinner. There is a very reasonable menu du jour, a little bar and a terrace for summer visitors. Run by a husband and wife team - he cooks she looks after the diners... More

My family and I stayed in Lezay for a fortnight and while we either cooked ourselves or went out further afield to find dinner, we couldn't end our vacation before eating at least once in Lezay. L' Assiette is a little restaurant in the centre of Lezay. Its menu is on the concise side but what's on it is mostly... More

We arranged to meet a friend here; it is her favourite local restaurant, and I can quite see why. Not a vast choice of food, but what there was was tasty and well-prepared. My cassolette de saumon could have been a little hotter, but my magret de canard was delicious! We could have had a pudding for very little more,... More

We had alovely meal in the sunny courtyard. Excellant service and at €18.90 for 3 courses it was very good value for money.
