Whilst on holiday we visited Sweetheart Abbey and spotted the Abbey Cottage tea room right next door so called in for lunch. It's a lovely place with really friendly staff and a great menu with some specials also available. I had the homemade carrot and courgette soup which was delicious and my family had jacket potato with coronation chicken and... More

We visited here after being to the Mill and Abbey. It is in a great location opposite the Abbey and next to the car park so it is an easy find. It was very busy but we managed to get seated and the staff were very friendly. There was plenty of choice on the menu with lots of gorgeous sounding... More

Had went to the beach to take our dog for a walk, and on our way home stopped for a pot of tea for two, fruit scones, which were beautifully baked, jam, which tasted gorgeous, and cream. The tea room sits next to Sweetheart Abbey, which is lovely, so much history about the Abbey. Love this wee tea room. Service... More

Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon and was quickly seated by friendly staff. The range of food included scones, homemade cakes and savories. A variety of specialist teas and coffee. Good value.

We have visited several times and love the fresh, home cooked meals and home baking. The high tea is extremely good value at £9.50- you get everything you could want and it's all delicious. The staff are all excellent too even when it's very busy. One of our favourite places to eat.

Abbey Cottage is well situated right in the centre of New Abbey and opposite the Abbey itself. There is a big public car park behind the cottage and an added bonus is the mobile post office which was there when we visited (Thursday)! There's lots of indoor seating together with a small garden outside with tables/umbrellas if the weather is... More

Description
Abbey Cottage is a family owned and run tearoom celebrating 30 years in business in 2013. We are delighted to receive a 'Top Tea Place' award from the Tea Council in April 2013. We offer coffees, light lunches and afternoon teas, sourcing ingredients locally, and even growing some ourselves. We have a good understanding of dietary issues and can offer gluten and lactose free menu options. Situated next to Sweetheart Abbey, in the shadow of Criffel and on the road to the coast.
