We have visited several times and love the fresh, home cooked meals and home baking. The high tea is extremely good value at £9.50- you get everything you could want and it's all delicious. The staff are all excellent too even when it's very busy. One of our favourite places to eat.

Had a lovely lunch here after visiting Sweet Heart Abbey. Lots to choose from, soups, sandwiches and homebaking to name a few. Nice little gift shop at front of the cafe.

Abbey Cottage is well situated right in the centre of New Abbey and opposite the Abbey itself. There is a big public car park behind the cottage and an added bonus is the mobile post office which was there when we visited (Thursday)! There's lots of indoor seating together with a small garden outside with tables/umbrellas if the weather is... More

Having toured the excellent New Abbey Corn mill and looked at the Abbey itself from the outside, we felt in need of refreshment. Abbey cottage is a lovely tearoom with an extensive menu of light lunches, snacks and cakes. The service was attentive and prompt despite the cafe being very busy. Highly recommended.

lovely garden in the sunshine, right by the Abbey. we had a very nice cup of coffee and a scone and jam. Scone was well made and fresh. Well worth a visit - hubby went in to pay - found it hard to attract the attention of a member of staff to pay! Staff should be outside a bit more... More

I had lunch at Abbey Cottage whilst visiting Sweetheart Abbey. It is a really cute little tearoom, with quite a variety of things to order on the menu. I had lunch, but the afternoon tea was very tempting. You also have a nice little view of the Abbey, great spot to stop and recharge the batteries.

On our way from the Abbey, we decided to try out the Abbey Cottage for a late lunch. We were shown to our table. Could have sat outside but, it was pretty full as the sun was out. Ordered 2 toasted sandwiches which were brought out within 15 minutes. We agreed that the sandwiches were toasted just right and the... More

New Abbey was one of our stops on a sunny day driving round Dumfriesshire visiting Spring Fling venues (open art and craft studios). The Abbey Cottage food to go menu had a good range of freshly-made sandwich options including several delicious vegetarian choices.

Description
Abbey Cottage is a family owned and run tearoom celebrating 30 years in business in 2013. We are delighted to receive a 'Top Tea Place' award from the Tea Council in April 2013. We offer coffees, light lunches and afternoon teas, sourcing ingredients locally, and even growing some ourselves. We have a good understanding of dietary issues and can offer gluten and lactose free menu options. Situated next to Sweetheart Abbey, in the shadow of Criffel and on the road to the coast.
