We anchored with our sailing boat in the Mandrakia bay and went for dinner to Medusa. Arrived just before 8 pm and were very lucky to get a table for 6, as right after it got crowded and the waiting time was long... The staff was very friendly despite the workload, being polite, serving us on time and always open for a friendly chat. Typical Greek food was served ranging from Greek salad to grilled swordfish, accompanied with white wine (no label). The taste was great, the views on the bay with the sun going down in the sea were stunning and the overall ambience made it a great experience. Cost for 6 pax with more than enough food for all was about 200E, very reasonable considering the "package". The smile of everybody working in the establishment made the experience even better, so I highly recommend this restaurant in case you are around... Get there early to secure a table...typically the restaurant does not take reservations.

WOW! We ate here four years ago and it was easy to find a spot in the small carpark and go to an available table at Medusa, but not this time. The carpark has expanded quite a lot and we were told that we would have at least a one hour wait for lunch, so they wrote our names down and we walked around taking photos of the sea scenes and drying octopus. We went back after 40 minutes and the waiter (who did a terrific job keeping track and trying to guess when people would leave and a table would be available) and names were being called. Suddenly our names came up - people before us were nowhere to be seen despite being called for a few times, so we were shown to a table after 40 minutes. We HAD to have bbq octopus (2 tentacles) - along with 2 Mythos, Greek salad with local cheese (5 olives), grilled calamari and 1 litre of water. A wonderful meal at Medusa, while not cheap, was very worthwhile. 54.40 Euro or around $95 Australian for two.

We were warmly welcomed at this wonderful restaurant in a fabulous location overlooking Mandrakia harbour. What a spot to enjoy good food and wine ! We ordered seafood including sardines, squid and fish, all of which was perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. Followed by delicious baklava and ice cream. A great evening !!

This place was highly recommended to us so we attempted to book a table earlier in the day but nobody picked up. Anyway, that evening we made the drive across the island and predictably, were made to join a queue despite our earlier efforts. No bother, as the scenery is spectacular, so we spent some time snapping photos. But this is an extremely busy restaurant and once we were seated it became a somewhat rushed affair, with the waiters spending less than twenty seconds at the table at any point. The food is simple and delicious but on the expensive side, with the seafood dishes costing circa 20 Euros each, and not the largest portions either. They actually forgot my main, meaning I had to watch my husband eat his meal before I received mine, but these things happen. The main reason for the slightly lower review is that at the end we discovered that on the bill they had not only included the bread basket placed on our table at the start of the meal, but also the small bottle of olive oil! Quite cheeky in my opinion. Then there’s service charge. So all in all, a difficult place to get into and quite expensive by the end of it - but not exactly the memorable experience we had hoped for to justify it.

There were two of us, my wife and I. Unfortunately we could not eat at the same time: my wife had the starter and main course while I still had no starter. The sun-dried octopus was good but served in very small quantities when I had ordered the large portion.. All the dishes are served without vegetables when they are already quite expensive compared to the many other restaurants that have been made in Greece. Moreover, if many restaurants offer dessert in Greece, here it was not the case. Restaurant that plays a lot on its location by the sea.

Shocking after all the reviews I read about this restaurant location was excellent but after that was down hill Salad was ok we asked for grilled calamari but the waiter, said no don’t have it grilled not good have it fried same for the octopus we don’t like fried food so he suggested octopus in the vinegar, wine sauce, which was slimy and the grilled swordfish and grilled shrimp. Well shrimp came five minutes later and a swordfish came 45 minutes later. They were both greasy and burnt on the outside and when I told him about it, he says, did you ever have sword fish before it takes long time to cook because it’s a thick piece. Unfortunately it was on a skewer no napkins no lemon, no salt and when I told him about it, he says oh no you only ask me for napkins not for lemons or salt 😡😡 which the never came instead of saying I’m sorry we’re very busy. We are overwhelmed or something. He tried to make me feel that I didn’t know what I was eating. I’ve eaten all around the world one of my Worse experiences.

If we exclude the area and the spot that is very picturesque , the kitchen is to laugh. He had an hour of waiting, queues of strangers waiting like idiots, and you're okay to everybody say, let's wait. We are talking about a list of simple ozzeri garlic pumpkins etc all frozen that just ok eaten and recommends it all the island for top. How much more to throw our intelligence??? or is it because the blind are blind with the mono-eye? For the strangers ok, they eat calamaraki roses and cheer but the Greeks write such reviews and they put us on their throats? You must never have gone to the uzeria to store such a simple list of shops and wait for hours to sit there.Kerasaki was that when we asked what the store offers after a bill of 130 euros 2 people, aperitif sweet fruits, the waiter said " WE DO NOT DISPOSE Nothing absolutely " and it was free as the whole island. All the apple is for crying at food service. Soon the strangers will understand and find a wig to cry.

We were really looking forward to this restaurant and had it recommended by many people. Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated (fine and expected as busy), the table we were allocated was down the bottom section, and we had to wait another 10 minutes for the table to be cleared. After 30 minutes and approaching 10pm we still hadn’t had our order taken despite many servers coming down, looking at us, and telling us they would come back, and in addition chatting to another table who seemed to be their friends. The man in charge seating anyone didn’t offer any compensation or solution when we walked out :(( very disappointing

I have mixed feelings on this place -- the food is great but the service is horrendous. This isn't just me feeling this way, many tables in our vicinity were visibly irritated and upset. We came here two times during our trip and tried different menu items. In all, I would say that the rigonata, grilled sardines, and fried kalamari are outstanding and I would highly recommend them. The swordfish is dry and unflavorful. It is nice to sit and eat directly on the water. The two times we came we had different servers and both times it was frustrating. The service seems to be a struggle because they are severely understaffed and the waiters are running around like crazy. I understand slow service but this was an entirely different level of slow. It often took us 30 minutes just to get the server's attention. This was May. I cannot even imagine how terrible service must be during the peak season. I truly hope that the business hires more staff before their existing staff burns out. I felt bad for the waiters.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at this restaurant on Recommendation of the hotel we are staying at and the online reviews were also really promising. You can not book if you are not a group of at least 10 people, so we arrived and waited more than an hour, anticipating the octopus that we would then eat, which from online photos seemed the main dish. The octopus "grilled in the sun" instead was finished and we had to settle for the octopus cooked with vinegar. Price definitely not in line with the small portion we were served (17,40€ for two tentacles!!). In addition we were served together both the appetizer and the octopus. We were therefore disappointed, certainly the wait is not worth neither the quality of the food, absolutely average, nor the wait that does not justify the impossibility to book. In conclusion, tourist place with inflated prices.

My wife and I had an amazing evening dining at Medusa . Even though i had to wait 30-40 minutes for a table I really didn’t mind because I enjoyed having a drink to go while I wondered the boat house area will the sun was setting. The food was high quality traditional Greek but what makes this place special is the staff and the atmosphere.

This is a cool restaurant as an experience while on Milos. The views of the Mediterranean Sea are breath-taking. The quaint little fisherman spots are fun to check out and take pictures with while you wait for a table (you will absolutely have to wait). Beyond all that, is the food good and fairly priced? Well, the seafood was fresh (obviously) and the rest of the food was above average in my opinion for Greek Islands, but I think you really come here and pay for Instagram and the views. There is a photo of Justin Bieber eating at the restaurant hanging on the wall.

A quick 8 minute drive from Plaka (Milos) to Mandrakia, finds you at this charming fishing village with its unique restaurant, Medusa. Homely, intimate and literally on the waters edge, the food and hospitality is sensational. The grilled octopus and shrimp (prawns) were what we really went for and did not disappoint…. Sooo good! Side dishes and wine suggested by the staff were also delicious. Dessert and shots ended a perfect dinner. We will be back! If you are in Milos, dining at Medusa will make your stay even more memorable….book before you go or you may need to queue up to get in.

Was looking forward to eating here for months, however it was a big disappointment. The wait staff were rude, and the food was over priced and underwhelming. There are much better places to eat on the island. In my opinion this restaurant did not live up to expectations. When we arrived the waiter put bread, olives and oil on our table with a grunt. Given the prices are higher than other restaurants on Milos we stupidly assumed they were free. Instead they charged us 5 euro for the oil, 2 euro for bread and 2 euro for the olives. Luckily the bread ended up being the best part of the meal. We had the grilled octopus, Medusa salad and sardines. The setting was quite nice but got extremely windy.

Potentially a victim of their own success but this is now the definition of tourist trap. As we arrived there’s 20+ people all scattered outside the front, trying to get a table (with the host getting noticeably frustrated and making sarcastic comments). We had booked a table via email but initially were laughed at by the host and told ‘you cannot book a table’ - which we did and the booking was noted on his piece of paper. Luckily our table (by coincidence of people leaving) was the front row by the sea as the rest of the restaurant looked chaotic. The table and view was actually really nice and made us realise that, before this place became too popular, it was probably brilliant. We both agreed that the food was the worst we’d had in our 10 days island hopping and was likely due to the chaos and being overly busy. We went in September so dread to think what this place is like in peak summer times. I’d strongly recommend giving this one a miss - we wish we had.
