Much improved by new management

Popped in on a Sunday lunchtime during a walk - having had poor hospitality in the past we were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and the good beer. The willingness of the chef to "rustle up" something for tasty us to eat despite the fact that we were past the normal food times was the... read more

We returned here having been a few years ago and were very disappointed in the very limited midweek lunch menu. We chose carrot and coriander soup which was ok but was served with rather boring sliced white bread - no choice was offered. Alternatives included sandwiches, omelette, burger or ham, egg and chips. Having re-read my previous review this is... More

A lovely warm welcome, fab log fires and excellent food. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and great value. Looking forward to the Burns night in January!

Went for dinner with family and a number of friends on a Friday evening. After geting a lovely warm welcome from the proprietors we settled down to a thoroughly pleasant evening in a relaxed, cosy atmosphere (log fires on a cold evening were ideal). The food was great and really suited the evening - a creative cheese soup, followed by... More

Was invited to dinner here and was a bit dubious about going after reading some of the reviews. Thank god i went. Small menu executed very well. I had beer battered fish and chips this one of many pubs that do this but I must say this was the best i have had in a long time nice white fish... More

From the outside looks like a nice village pub. Reality: Starter: Charcuterie Board. Clearly had taken a pre packed cured meat selection from a supermarket and put it on a board with some toasted french stick. Seriously? Do the basics at least. Not even an effort to hide this, especially when there are many good cured meat providers in Somerset... More

We have been bringing friends and family, travelling from Portishead, here for years for Sunday lunch but have not visited since the current owners took over and I can safely say that we won't be visiting again. We weren't aware of the change of hands until we actually arrived. We arrived at just gone midday and initially wasn't even sure... More

Just re-visited 'post' re-fit. New fresh decor. Greeted with same smiling faces. Over the moon to see Real Ales from the barrel and a new Menu. Denver steaks, thick and cooked to perfection, fish pie had so much fish (and the largest king prawns) i could not finish. Absolutely superb. Lady on next table had Lamb Shank that I have... More
