We (wife and I) turned up midweek around 8 pm after a lengthy journey. The pub was pretty empty but even so it took a while for someone to serve us. The waitress who looked after us was very friendly and efficient. The food was OK and the cost reasonable for the quality. All in all, I got the feeling... More

I took my Dad to lunch for Father's Day at the Waldegrave Arms as it was once a family favourite for fantastic food. It has been over a year since we last visited, and unfortunately as soon as we drove into the car park we could tell that the Waldegrave had changed. We arrived to find the pub completely empty,... Really good lunch today. Superb chips, wonderful fish and great lasagne all served with superb crisp salad and locally baked bread. Followed by excellent proper icecream! We were four generations ranging from 91yr old great grandma to 12yr old great granddaughter. And we all SO enjoyed it. A proper pub. With friendly helpful staff. We will be returning!!

we were in the area for a few days, visited another "highly rated" pub - just very ordinary food, then called in one evening here for a drink. Liked the friendly atmosphere created by tristan Caroline and the locals and liked the look of the menu. Returned next evening to enjoy one of the best meals we have had -... More

We found this pub after getting lost in the area last July, just wanted a light lunch, had the ploughmans, which was huge. Today we decided to see if we could find it again, had forgotten what it was called, so glad we did manage to find. 5 of us went, 3 of us had the steak & ale pie,... More

We stopped off for a quick lunch and this lovely country pub didn't disappoint! Ham, egg and the most incredible chips. A lovely log burner fire and the friendliest dog ever - what more could you ask for!

We returned here having been a few years ago and were very disappointed in the very limited midweek lunch menu. We chose carrot and coriander soup which was ok but was served with rather boring sliced white bread - no choice was offered. Alternatives included sandwiches, omelette, burger or ham, egg and chips. Having re-read my previous review this is... More

Went for dinner with family and a number of friends on a Friday evening. After geting a lovely warm welcome from the proprietors we settled down to a thoroughly pleasant evening in a relaxed, cosy atmosphere (log fires on a cold evening were ideal). The food was great and really suited the evening - a creative cheese soup, followed by... More
