Comfy fun night out

Great local ales, laid back service with no rush to clear out at the end of a night featuring an entertaining band. What's not to like?

I have been going to this place year in year out on rare occasions when someone wanted to meet for a quick pint and catch up. The beer is watery, the staff look like they have just been tipped out of bed at any time of day,, covered in tattoos and in baggy clothes. There is NOTHING professional about this... More

Had found this pub, via its website, as a lunch location for a family reunion with members travelling from several parts of the country. Very disappointed to find it was not open on a Wednesday lunchtime. This is not what the website had said.

We were travelling today, 6th June 2015 and wanted to stop for lunch on the way to Lincoln. By chance we found ourselves at The Sun Inn, at Saxilby and we ouldn't have been made more welcome. The choice of cask ales is impressive, as is the menu - so much so that we're hoping to go back there for... More

Invited to the Sun Inn for a Mother's Day lunch. The pre-ordered food from a varied menu was excellent. I do hope this venue continues to improve. It still suffers from a poor local reputation. Some easy fixes would be to make the entrance cleaner and fresher and do something about the dreadful toilets.

Visited after hearing that the previous managers had returned and was well impressed! Choice of 3 meats, plenty of food, exceptionally cooked and presented and all served with a smile. Well worth visiting but would seriously recommend booking. Keep it up guys 😃.

Thank you for your review of The Sun Inn. We are glad you enjoyed your experience and appreciate all your comments. The pub is a little shabby round the edges and we are gradually improving this over the coming months. We hope to see you again soon and once again, thank you for your kind comments. More

not impressed at all sorry to say there was no choice of meats just beef which was as tough as old boots for the price it was very expensive in our opinion. The welcome was not good either and some of our party had to go to another venue to eat on their own because we were told they could not... Thank you for your review. The pub is generally a large pub with plenty of seating but a relatively small kitchen which produces fresh food. With such a small space, large parties are sometimes difficult to cater for in one sitting. The booking was made for 15 adults but your party turned up with 21 people in total. Unfortunately, we... We decided to try Sunday lunch as we had heard good reports since The Sun has been under new management. We are glad we went as the food was really good and the service was very friendly and welcoming. It was good to see other people also eating there and we wish them well.

My friends and I took the river walk from Lincoln to Saxilby and decided to top it off with a drink before we got the train back to Lincoln. The Sun Inn was the first pub we came across on entering Saxilby. It is like a scene from the league of gentleman in there! Everyone must have sensed we were... More
