In an international location like Puerto Banus, I expected a higher quality of food. I regularly get a higher quality of Indian food, regionally specialized, in Michigan! The pakora and samosas were of poor quality. The gobi aloo and vegetarian curry were fine, but nothing extraordinary.

Had dinner with family members at this restaurant. I can best describe it as average food, average service, not a good value for the money (as in most Indian restaurants), and very annoying street peddlers honking fake goods. When commented to the servers about the source of the annoyance, were urged to chill as "they were trying to earn a... More

The curry here is pretty good, it had lots of flavour, the place itself is looking tired and could do with refurbishing to keep upto surrounding bars and restaurants. It was a good meal though and it wasn't expensive.

Indian food of the average kind. Very touristy and needs some refreshment. Our dinner for 4 was ok but too pricey for what we got . I know its open air and near the water but after a cockroach walked by my daughter would not eat any longer. The waiter just "shrugged" it off. Before leaving I walked in the... More

Located alongside the "big boats" in Puerto Banus, this is one of the longest established restaurants in the port. A couple of decades ago there were only two Indian restaurants in the area - and Mumtaz was one. Now there are literally dozens, and Mumtaz still stands head and shoulders above the rest. It is not - and has never... More

Food is very average here. The interior is dated and the outside has a canopy on which keeps all the cigarette smoke in.

We sat at one of the outside tables overlooking the Marina for our visit to Mumtaz. We were given what we thought were complimentary popadoms & dips, but the ended up on the bill, wasn't expensive but a surprise all the same. Our shared starter was really good and more than ample for the two of us. Our Curries delicious... More

Situated on the quayside in Puerto Banus, the restaurant is well positioned to watch the world go by over dinner. The food quality was good ....Chicken Pakora starter, Lamb Rogan Gosh, Chicken Tikka Masala & Chicken Tikka ....and portion sizes were adequate. However the Nan breads are very small !! The restaurant is very expensive compared to a typical Indian... More

This is the restaurant that elevates Indian Cuisine to fine dining. Delicate and complex flavours, clearly the best Indian food in the area. Clearly it is more expensive than most others, but this is a case of getting what you pay for. It is not a place to go for an Indian fix, rather it is a place to go... More

As above. Exceptional food. Very genuine service too from our server. Aubergine dish was best I ever had. Going back for more tomorrow. Can't fault it at all. Nice fresh breeze flowing through while you eat. Very important with Indian food. Plus lots of boats to look at while u eat. Perfection. Raj.

Description
For more than 30 years, this renowned restaurant continues to be instrumental in changing the perception of Indian cuisine in the heart of Puerto Banús. Mumtaz is recognised for its classic combination of indisputable knowledge, unique experience and tradition. The restaurant offers guests a sophisticated fine dining experience with naturally charming staff, discreet service and tantalising food that few can compete with, ensuring that guests come back for more. Mumtaz's fare is derived from traditional Moghul cuisine, focusing around the Tandoor oven, where bread, fish and meat are all cooked in the authentic North-West Indian style. In addition to the conventional and established Mumtaz favourites, executive chefs Chandan Singh and Mikbal regularly devise new dishes to keep the menu innovative, modern and up to date. Mumtaz also has a vast and superior wine list, with a fantastic selection of wines from around Spain.
