I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant boasts a beautiful and unique design, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. They told us that the main theme is 'Maiz,' which results in a delightful exploration of flavors and textures. Each dish is carefully crafted to highlight the natural goodness of its ingredients. The attentiveness and enthusiasm of the staff added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. We had a group of 11 drop in for dinner and they seated around the outdoor mini-kitchen where we could watch them prepare the food. We got a bunch of dishes to share and kept ordering more because everything was just amazing. Really authentic, simple and DELICIOUS Mexican food, also very reasonably priced.
The friendly staff explained about all the ingredients they use, about the different types of corn and how they source everything. The atmosphere they've created here is lovely - the lighting, the decor, the whole vibe of watching the food being prepared. We were all very impressed. Easily the best food we had on our trip. Very highly recommend this gem if you're visiting Bacalar.

We ate in this restaurant of bacalar , the food quite well but they forgot 2 of my dishes and when we ordered dessert (there were only 2 dishes) surprise.... no dishes were available.... Still, the waiter who made us the cocktails, very friendly and friendly, I give him a 10. But I wouldn't eat here again.

We ordered 5 dishes in total and absolutely nothing was good.
Vegan cuisine why, on the contrary the goal is to discover.

I am happy to share my experience at Tierra Ixim in Bacalar. The taste of corn quesadillas is definitely different from what is the stereotype of tacos/tortillas tried elsewhere. Maybe it is because of the organic corn flour used in their preparation, maybe because the modality of preparing the dough, but the taste is surprisingly intense, genuine, definitely not flat. At difference of other people experience, I am less intrigued by the platano-coco-cacao smoothie I tried, but it could be my fault because I did not ask whether they would use the agua de coco or the (expected) leche de coco. The pastel de cacao dessert was interesting, not too sweet not too bitter. The service is VERY attentive yet not overwhelming (the crew speaks English, which is a plus). I would like to try again different dishes.

It's the perfect place if you want a relaxed and chilled back place to eat, the staff is very kind and attentive. The food, MMMMMM don't even get me started! It's some of the best mexican food you'll find in Bacalar without a doubt!

This is an amazing street vip local food type of restaurant, yet not for everyone, let me be specific. If you are a meat lover this may not be for you as meat options are limited. Let me start.
Ambience. The restaurant is in a garden beautifully nested around trees and many plants. The decor and lighting is amazing for a quiet night with your partner or family. Latin indie music completes a perfect atmosphere.
The food is 100% based in corn and vegetables, dishes while spectacular could surprise those not used to eat too much corn type of dishes. Everything is food that you can find in a typical Mexican street market but upgraded substantially.
The drinks are a few only and mostly based in mezcal drinks, which are also spectacular.
In summary, great service, excellent food, amazing ambience and location and really fair prices; absolutely a place to try.

An interesting maize-based menu you won't see elsewhere in Bacalar, all original Mexican ingredients, all from small producers, all delicious and different, almost all vegetarian or vegan. Sit at the wide bar around the kitchen and learn about the authentic ingredients and cooking methods from the friendly staff. Sit under the overhanging trees and enjoy the romantic setting. Sit at the small bar in front and sample original Mexican beverages. Just go!

On my very first evening in Bacalar I dined at the idyllic Tierra IXIM.
On arrival the staff were warm, friendly & attentive which made me feel welcome as a solo diner.
I fell in love with the outdoor candlelit setting with tables set under the trees, my kind of restaurant heaven.
A simple yet unique menu, no fish but various meat & vegan options. I wanted to try everything! I opted for the vegetarian & divine banana quesadilla followed by an equally delicious yet altogether different Oaxaca cheese quesadilla wrapped in the local sacred & nutritious green leaf. Yum.
I ended with a super tasty & not too sweet treat, the chocolate tamale leaving me full & utterly satisfied.
Having spent 3 weeks in CDMX I was after a relaxed & authentic eating experience… Tierra IXIM delivered in every way. A very magical place & a must visit for those who appreciate chic details & mouthwatering food. Service was faultless. I can’t wait to go back to try everything else on the menu!

Special restaurant and an attractive location. You don't get average tourist food here. Beautiful fresh homemade products. I really liked the banana dishes. The portions are not large, feel free to order more or share. Recommended for those who want something different!

We stopped in IXIM on a whim when we were visiting Bacalar and I have not stopped thinking about the vegan pozole since! It can be challenging to find authentically vegetarian friendly restaurants when traveling in Mexico, and even more challenging to find them with an elevated atmosphere. IXIM checks all the boxes with food, amazing staff, atmosphere AND cost. We were blown away by our experience and have recommended it to several friends who are planning visits to the lagoon. For veg friendly alone I give five stars!

Excellent place with great variety and quality of Mexican food. The warm and cozy decoration, you feel inside the patio of your house with a great playlist in the background. Recommended if you come to Bacalar, and the tlayudas are 100% unmissable.

Exquisite! Walking through Bacalar you find this wonderful place, truly delicious signature food, interpretation of corn in different flavors and experiences. The place is beautiful and the staff and service are first class. You have to go!
