You can find an array of typical Sri Lankan village food here at very reasonable prices. Hela Bojun is a concept introduced by the Department of Agriculture, Peradeniya. It is a remarkable concept. It provides Sri Lankan village type freshly cooked food prepared by self-employed...women, giving these women an opportunity to make a living.
The concept is similar to a food court in a Mall, except it is a sort of single cuisine. Each cook will prepare their own speciality food. It is a cash only operation. Behind this 'food market' you will find a plant nursery where you could buy typical Sri Lankan vegetable, fruit, spices and flower plants.More

Great local food eaten by locals. Freshly made from quality local ingredients at very good prices. Organised by department of agriculture. Recommend the dosa, pol roti, corn pudding and delicious soursop juice.
Gives you the feel of the grand mother's kitchen. This was one of many Hela bojun stands we stopped at in our travels. Without exception we walked away loaded up with tasty treats for very little. Without exception the ladies who run these stalls were gracious and eager to share their creations with tourists....The Peradeniya outlet was among my favorites. We had the most delicious pani kavum and the lovely lady let me take some video of how she made these so I could try to make them when I get home. Do yourself a favour, deal with the crowd and stop for one of the best meals you will have in Sri LankaMore
