On our first visit to Denali Park, we had made reservations to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Oh my, I called ahead to see if they had a dress code (silly me it's Alaska) The meal was one of the best we have ever experienced from...the appetizer to the main course to dessert. Just want to return!More

We enjoy fine dining, and the varied tastes and preparations that means. Absolutely fantastic food! Every dish had fresh herbs that gave such a bright flavor to everything. We went whole hog and ordered "snacks" of Firecracker shrimp (I don't like spicy, but I was...licking up all the sauce, while sniffing from my opened sinuses) and oysters (they were enormous!); salads - watermelon ("brulee" meaning lightly torched, I guess) which I inhaled, again loving the fresh basil and mint, while my husband devoured the heirloom tomato salad with shaved cheese and balsamic; and even had mains of scallops with a fabulous creme fraiche sauce and grilled asparagus, and octopus. Wow, just wow! Service was friendly and attentive. Tables were well spaced and all staff wore masks, and cleaned tables and chairs well. The wine list was good and the French Chardonnay we had paired well with all our courses. Prices were fantastic, especially compared to other places we've eaten in Alaska. When we come back to Denali, we're definitely dining here again!More

We don't get to Denali very often but when we do we make sure and get to 229 as their food is OUTSTANDING! With COVID-19 we have not gone to any restaurants but we wanted to go for a friend's 70th b-day and they managed...to make us feel safe.More

My wife and I ate there last night. Nick was our waiter and he was knowledgeable and attentive. He had us laughing our butts off! Service was great. Food was great. Order the black cod.

Do not be fooled by the quaint and unassuming location. This is some of the finest dining you will have in the entire state. Four diners ordered 3 different items. All were fantastic and the apps too. Decent selection of drink options considering the location....Nice blend of local and seasonal items for each item on the menu. I will fondly remember that meal and I will return.More

The menu is impressive and all the dishes we tried were spectacular. Great ambiance and up scale feel deep in the wilderness of Alaska.

One of the very best restaurants in not only Alaska but USA. Outstanding service and food in a truly unique setting outside Denali Park. From the first course to the desert it was incredible. Take my word for it, you will not fine a better...spot.More

Our only regret is that we couldn't go to 229 more than once! The food, the service, the ambience, the location...everything was very good. Skip the touristy area near the park entrance and make the short journey to this place. It is worth it!

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Great building in the woods outside Denali. Were advised to go early and try to get a spot at the bar since it was high season. We got there at 5:15 and were able to sit...at the bar and order immediately. Ashley served us and the service was excellent. She answered our questions about the menu and provided some great tips on what to see and do during our stay. The sangria got us off to a good start. The leadup was great but the food was the main attraction. We started with an artichoke appetizer. I love artichokes and have had some really good ones but this one stood out. It was steamed and then seared and the accompanying smoked paprika and peppercorn aioli was amazing. I had the fresh salmon and it was probably the best salmon I've ever had. Cooked to perfection and served with smashed potatoes and an amazing sauce. Portion size was perfect. My husband had the scallops and raved about those as well. I'm allergic so cannot add my personal observation.More

Denali Cabins is a great location to spend your nights. Cabins are clean and comfortable. Plus the location is quiet without the busy bustle of people. Denali Cabins are basically across the road from Mile 229 Restaurant... More
