We were recommended to have the cozido, so booked for dinner. Big mistake as the food is kept in a warming oven and dries out as the day goes on. A local told us only to have cozido at lunchtime when it is fresh out...More

If your a tourist and perhaps have never had a “cozido das furnas” then you might not know the difference. But if your a local then this place is just ok.

I must start by saying that the specialty is really good. The local stew—'cozido das Furnas'—is something not to be missed. It is cooked inside a hole on the volcanic ground hot gas and boiling mud and it gets a terrific blend of sulfur into...More

I’m not sure I’d rush to try the local speciality Cozido das Furnas again. Amazing that it’s cooked underground but the pork and chicken fares better than the sausage and beef I thought. Starve yourself and pre-book if this is what you’re going to have....More

Tried it as it's the thing to do whilst in Furnas. A large upstairs room, brightly lit and clearly popular with large tourist groups (as well as quite a few locals). We ordered one cozido to share given the massive portions, and we didn't finish...More

Nice place located in center of Furnas. We eat here the local food "cozido". It was delicious, and a really big portion.

The main, typical dish, cooked at the lake with boiling water and mud springs, was really something special, rich in flavors, something that should be done. Unfortunately, the food is not everything when we think about the experience... There was 3 of us, we booked...More

We had high expectations for the traditional azorean stew. But as with most things the whole is more than the sum of the parts. Although the ingredients were good quality wise, they were not properly heated, which was disapointing. I also think they were saving...More

Yes you can. Call to book. You can eat family style. Don't forget to try the blood sausage. It doesn't taste like it sounds. They also have a selection of desserts. The wines are delicious. Have fun!

Check with hotel front desk. If you have any trips planned, also ask your tour guides. Excuse tardiness of response. Been traveling! Enjoy the Azores!
