Just had a meal here. We ordered local cheese and bread for our starter, it came fast and there was a mountain of bread ! We asked for olive oil to soak the bread in which took an age to arrive and as it did...so did our mains, so we had a table full of food all at once…I had local steak which was ok, my wife had chicken which was dry. But we had to eat our mains 1st and then had no room for our starter of cheese after the mains ! We noticed that this happened at other tables all the food arrived at once, we have no idea why as they did not need to flip the tables fast as there was 15 empty tables ! There was far too many carbs, chips, mash, white rice, bread mountain and virtually no veg….I would not return shame as there is very little else in Furnas to go to as all the other restaurants have not great ratings or they seem to be burger based.More

It's the place to go for the popular Cozido das Furnas (Furnas stew). I came here because it was included on the tour I took around the island. We had the stew (huge enough for a family) and I ate the Azores pineapple for dessert....More than enough. Everything was good and tasty .. Super crowded. Book in advance. Recommend.More

We loved dining at Restaurante Tony’s so much so that we dined two times in two days! Highly recommend the Tony’s Steak for great flavor and a decent sized meal. Thank you to Francisco who notably worked diligently though-out our visit to keep customers happy...+ satisfied!More

I discovered Tony’s here on TripAdvisor. I was so excited because of all the photos of the food and let me tell you it was better than I could ever imagine! As a Portuguese I could not be more happy with the cozido, every single...thing was delicious, from the potatoes to the meat to the broth. The service was what I always expect from a Portuguese service, loads of laughs and super nice and polite people. Small advise from a Portuguese, it is expected that the cozido and other type of traditional meals bring a lot of food that might seem too much, is important that you are aware of you eat a lot or not or just ask for the waiter’s opinion they will be honest (Portuguese people don’t like to waste food is part of our education thats why there are a lot of dishes made from leftovers or what we call “sobras” in our cuisine culture (doesn’t happen in restaurants is more of a home thing)) PLEASE TRY PUDIM THE ANANÁS!More

We ate here while on our tour and it was fantastic. First our tour guide took us to Lagoa das Furnas where our food was being cooked in the ground. They explained to us that they bury the food and the hot spring waters cook...it in roughly 4 hours. The food was fabulous and way too much. Reminded us of a New England boiled dinner. Then for dessert we had a piece of island pineapple. This was a great experience with great food.More

Tasty volcano-cooked cozido. It looked bland and boring but I was genuinely surprised by how tasty the stew was. All other aspects of the restaurant are mediocre at best. The service was quick but unfriendly, and the restaurant needs a facelift.

Great dinner place. We had a delicious dinner on the terrace. Only drag was the workers and friends smoking right below us. Really unnecessary.

I went on my birthday after visiting Terra Nostra garden. I ordered the limpets and the chozido. The limpets were great, but what isn’t if you don’t overcook it and drown it in garlic and butter? For the chozido, I expected a bland stew that...is only noteworthy because it was cooked in the local volcano! Pleasantly all wrong!!! This was one of the best stews I have ever experienced in my 63 years and that is saying quite a lot, given my mother’s Irish heritage. The sausages had amazing flavor and were consistency was soft but not mushy. The root vegetables, cabbage and chard made the most amazing ‘a jour. The resulting taste I named Primordial Barbeque! It is Bbq without alll the garbage - sugar, preservatives, etc., Bbq exactly as Mother Nature and God himself intended. The portion was enormous, to the point where I could not even think about birthday cake or pastry for dessert. I ate myself silly on my trip but walked and swam a lton. I actually lost weight on vacation! When have you last done that?!!!More

We went to try the "comida portuguesa" made in the furnas. Place is simple and local, staff are really nice. As for the food for me was not that special and different. Maybe I had too much expectation 🙂

The place to visit for the famous Cozido das Furnas (Furnas Stew). Its always crowded, it's advised to be booked in advance. So expect lots of tourists everyday. The cozido itself is very very good and huge Worth the visit.

We went at 12 pm but the restaurant did not work so we made a reservation for 6 pm to try cozido. It was very nice and tasty, for 2 was 35 euros and was too big portion.

We came here for a cozido, thank god we booked in advance if not they allow you to eat but no cozido. So if you still wanna come book in advance. We must say the cozido was amazing... Super tasty! It was a pitty the...service was so that poor. No communication at all in between the waiters so they were coming 2 in 2 minutes to ask if we were done so they could remove the cozido from the table even having the dish full. At the end we accepted as many waiters came to try to remove the dishes and we were tired and fed up. We complained to a women that said that it was the first time we said no to her... About the dessert the pineapple was too green. If you just want a good cozido is the perfect place. If you are looking for enjoying lunch with friends and family (which is part of the cozido experience) better go somewhere else.More

We booked this restaurant because of the reviews we read, and it was an excellent choice. We start by trying the island's typical “lapas” and azorean cheese . And obviously going to Furnas we had to try the typical furnas stew, tender and tasty meat,...and despite the strange taste it was very good. Highly recommend to visit Tony’s! The only restaurant we visited where the staff had a permanent concern with hand disinfection!More

Yes you can. Call to book. You can eat family style. Don't forget to try the blood sausage. It doesn't taste like it sounds. They also have a selection of desserts. The wines are delicious. Have fun!

Check with hotel front desk. If you have any trips planned, also ask your tour guides. Excuse tardiness of response. Been traveling! Enjoy the Azores!
