Great food, terrible service

We reserved a table for 2 in advance. Once we came the restaurant had multiple tables available, most of them being on strong sun. Since we reserved we expected to be seated in a table that wasn't directly in the sun. However this did not happen, my boyfriend was sitting on strong sun. For a few minutes we were ignored. After a waitress came, no hello, no smile but what's our order. After a few more tables became available my boyfriend asked the waitress politely if we could switch to a less sunny table. She wasn't too happy with our question, despite the fact that there were a lot of tables available. She said - you can go there, left our food on the table so we took all of our stuff and food to a different table. She brought food, without a salad that I ordered, without spices for the salad (we took it ourselves) and wasn't happy when I reminded her of the salad that I ordered. After we finished our meal a different waitress cleaned up - she was super nice. Our original waitress brought the receipt without a word, just left it on the table. I hope her unprofessional behaviour had something to do with the fact we're a young couple, so she didn't treat us as equal to other guests. If thats not the case - she's just rude and unprofessional. The food was excellent and the chefs deserve praise. I'm sure not all waiters there are like her, but this one sure was. I expect better service for the price and the level of the restaurant.

Good Simple Food

For Croatian standards, the food is GOOD, not amazing but nice. It is simple fresh, healthy food. The service was good and the price was OK. Not overly priced, but not cheap either. Compared to what you get in tourist areas like Dubrovnik, which on many occasions the quality is not good and the price is extortionate, this restaurant actually delivers decent food for which you pay a reasonable price.

Unfortunately too much to expect

Although we expected some just standard service in rastoke we were disappointed with the meals. My veal under the oven was fine, but when I also ate it some 30 km down the road I found out how Much better it can be if you find the right place. My wife’s rib eye steak was really tough, but unfortunately we did not complain Service was good And they really make the looks of a restaurant much better.

Solid food but a little pricey for what they offer

Location of this restaurant is truly wonderful and picturesque. However, having your meal at a table located just above a river stream would be very calming experience were it not for crowds of people coming to this place. The food was tasty, we had a smoked trout salad and a steak salad, both meals were simple but satisfying. The waitress was polite and quick. The prices are a bit high for Croatian standards, especially since the food is pretty much basic and the toilet is not in great shape.

Beautiful location and wonderful service!

Our dining experience at Petro was not planned so there were no expectations but we were thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional and the food very good. The price was also very reasonable - we all left satisfied and would recommend it to others. I don't think we have dined in a more beautiful setting for years.

Cold food and bad service

We've waited for the appetizers to arrive for 20 minutes, only for it to arrive together with the main course that was completely cold. The waitress did not seem to care to clear the table for dessert, so even though it was good we ate it surrounded by a ton of dishes and leftovers. The bathroom was flooded and the sink was out of function. There was no toilet paper and hygiene was very poor. Overall, a pretty bas experience apart from the beautiful nature that they've managed to diminish with bad food and service. Would not recommend to anyone.

Delicious meal in the middle of a fairy tale

The first thing you'll notice is the precious setting, hidden off the main road, nestled among trees and creeks. The restaurant itself is a wooden cabin flanked with an expansive deck that straddles the various branches of the creek with a section in the middle for trout to be caught fresh for the meal. The food was delicious, and we experimented with a cheese and sausage plate that included bear, boar, and deer meats. The main dishes were amazing, particularly the grilled fresh-caught trout and the deer-bear sausages with homemade mustard. The service was impeccable as our server walked us through a wine recommendation and was very attentive. An amazing spot off the beaten path.

Unique location

The first thing you notice is that the restaurant is located literally on the small waterfalls. Water running under the decks makes the whole atmosphere fairy tale like. Very friendly staff made us feel at home, I had veal under peka and was not as tender as I would expect, but potatoes are great. Steak salad is a light choice, goes well with decent selection of wines.

Terrible and chaotic service

Extremely slow service, lunch took us more than 2hrs. Other guests also complained... Waiters and staff are very unprofessional, rude, sarcastic...do not have any focus on guests. Food is not so bad, but really not worth waiting in the rush, as restaurant is completely unorganised.

bad service, food not worth money

bad service, pretty slow. We ordered 2 fishes - they were nicely prepared but small, and side dish (potatoes and grilled vegetable) were not good - paprika, zucchini and eggplant without any spices, and half cooked, for pretty expencive price. We left place hungry, and they charged us 800 grams fish (2x400 grams) which we surely didn't get. I was there cca 5 years ago and food was much better, that is why I return, but not any more. less than average kitchen for too high price.

Come for the location. The food is adequate

The river running alongside the restaurant and the nearby waterfalls are the star of the show. We had no complaints about the food, but it was not outstanding. Judging from the other tables we spoke to or saw, they seemed to be content but not impressed with their food. The service was a little slow but friendly and helpful.

Very disappointing experience

A tourist restaurant, the positive thing that can only be said to its credit is that it is located in a beautiful place and its surroundings are very beautiful. The food was below all criticism and very expensive, and in addition they added to our order all kinds of extras that we did not order at all, which appeared on the final bill. And in another dish of steak that should come with a side dish, we were charged for the side dish separately. We felt no interest from the hosts during our entire stay. We ended up leaving the restaurant after paying a lot of money disappointed and frustrated.

Why i didnt and did like it

We ordered the file fist and it was still filled with bones and over grilled. The deserts were dry. The appetizer ( smoked fish) was okey but has space for improvement. All and all it was a 2.5/5 experience. The staff was really nice tho and the location is beautiful

Nice location - the rest is average

The location is very pretty but the food left much to be desired. I ordered the sausages that should have come with baked beans. I had 2 types of sausages instead of 3 and there were no beans on the plate. I was served potatoes that felt undercooked. Even though the restaurant was not very busy we still had to wait a while for the food. Overall not the best experience of dining in Croatia.

Lovely setting

After reading the reviews here we chose this restaurant for the setting rather than the food. The atmosphere was delightful. My husband thought his bear goulash was delicious; my friend and I described our veal “under the bell” as average. The bread was outstanding. Our waiter, Marcus, was very good. He went out of his way to satisfy us Americans by finding butter for the bread.
