Was looking for a nice pub for a bite to eat after visiting Whitby in the morning and on route to Goathland. Food was traditional bar meal for lunch, well made and priced. Lady behind bars very pleasant and made my girlfriend and I welcome. We had our two small dogs with us and no issue eating here. Pub was... More

We only had time for a brief visit for lunch with our two dogs whilst on holiday here. Very friendly landlady. Very helpful. The food was good. Even the chips were homemade. Would definitely return next time we're in the area.

Not that I'm an expert in English countryside pubs, but this pretty much fit every notion I've ever had of one. We were en route to Whitby and I hadn't used the facilities since leaving York, so when I saw this place, we stopped off hoping for a restroom. We didn't expect such a quaint little place...so we thought we'd... More

We were staying in the area and visited The Plough on 3 consecutive nights. We ate on 2 occasions and the food and the sevice was excellent. Large portions ...well cooked and presented. All the staff were friendly. We would definitely reccommend a visit to the Plough.

Had a disappointing meal at the Plough. The starter I had was chicken gorgons with chilli dipping sauce. The gorgons were overcooked and dry. I then had the Whitby scampi which was just about o.k. but the chips were awful. Obviously home made chips cut from very large potatoes with the skins left on, but chips should be crispy on... More

This is a dog friendly pub in that they are allowed in the bar area where meals can be ordered and eaten. Parking was a little tight on this busy Friday night and we had reserved our table. The atmosphere was friendly, the menu varied and included vegetarian options. The steak was cooked perfectly for my partner, the vegetarian risotto... More
