Been near Falasarna for swimming and on the way back to Chania we took a detour and start going up the mountain towards the cape. What a wise decision! Having heard so much I was afraid that my high expectations would lead me to an...emergency landing from the gastronomy clouds. Worth every mile, like we'd say worth every penny. Ambient great, service very helpful and accommodating and the food AMAZING! Even the bread with the oil that some restaurants serve in Greece before you start your meal, had a real taste reminding us that what we usually eat in the cities is not great. Everything was great taste, portion sizes, plates! I could go on and on on every dish but I will comment only one to justify the title. The soutzoukakia (kind of meatballs with spices traditional in my family) accompanied with rice is usually something you do not ask as it can often arrive dry and tasteless or with one ingredient dominating the rest and I usually prefer to eat at home. Believe me this one was far better than homemade! Tasty, soft, juicy, well balanced seasonings and well sourced meat. I would definitely go again in my next trip! Well done!More

food was incredibly tastu. we had bread dipped with olive oil and herbs, cretan pies with cheese and spinach, and salad. the highlight of our lunch was avocado herrig and lettuce salad. very unusual combination turned out to be super delicious. there is little craft...shop inside too. staff very friendly and professional, and made really nice relaxing atmosphere. they have relaxing reggae music playing too. plenty of space to obsere social distancing. good spot for taking pics. we tried ice cream made of sheep milk. I was afraid it'll be strong taste, but it was very delicate and we will definitely be going back there !! hidden gem, so worth it. 1min from beachMore

Visited as 2 families (4 adults and 3 Kids) Tucked away in the mountain side village is this little hidden gem of a family run restaurant. Selling locally sourced , traditional Cretan cooked dishes which tasted delicious, They also served a wonderful Rose wine and...the local brew Charma . Very welcoming, friendly and couldn’t do enough. Would thoroughly recommend and would return in a heartbeat . Do yourself a favour , if you are on the Kolymbari area, take a trip up the hill , seek out this beautiful restaurant... you will not be disappointed.More

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner at Tis Litsas Ta Kamomata after a beach day and no better choice could’ve been made! The food is fresh and typical. Portions are big and prices are great! You can have dinner in the terrace while...enjoying a stunning sunset on the sea! Everyone is mind to you! Highly suggested if you are in Afrata!More

. . . Well, maybe not, but it seems like it. Look down towards the sea and up to the mountains, and you are somewhere in between. Hawks and buzzards circle on the thermals above the cliffs at eye level, with a backdrop of white...flecked waves on the misty blue horizon, sheep graze between the rocks on the headland, and the White Mountains play with your senses of what is real, and what is illusion. Afrata is well off the tourist track, and Tis Litsas Ta Kamomata is about as ideal a spot you could imagine. Serving a selection of traditional Greek and Cretan Cuisine and of course local wine, you really can't go wrong.More

Having been to Litsa’s for many years, we couldn’t wait to bring our “1st time to Greece” American friends! We had a fantastic day exploring Kolymbari, Gonias Monastery, Afrata Beach and the Rodopou Peninsula, but the “reward” at the end was a fantastic feast at...Tis Litsas Ta Kamomata in the village of Afrata. We knew that our friends would be astounded by the variety and quality of Litsa’s homemade traditional Cretan cuisine with only her perfect embellishments, and by the greeting given by this family owned and operated village taverna.....the true definition of «φιλότιμο».....Greek hospitality. We ordered everything in sight and enjoyed every dish. You can order both meat and vegetarian meals here: briam, horta and cheese pies, pork with prunes, sautéed peppers with spicy cheese, beans & herring, stuffed vegetables, chicken, lamb, rabbit, boureki, salad; even the bread comes with the finest olive oil, Greek herbs and sea salt! Everything is locally sourced and prepared in-house by Litsa herself. Local, organic Cretan beer is also available on tap, and we enjoyed the house wine as well! My friends kept asking me why I was “treating” them to such a grand meal...well hospitality of course...but my “secret” was that for such fine and fresh food, the price for four people was exceedingly reasonable! The taverna is perched on a hill with lovely views and fresh breezes. The place is absolutely impeccable and creatively decorated which gives the taverna a warm welcoming atmosphere. During the off-season Litsa creates beautiful pieces of jewelry and other homemade/ homegrown items that are available in her gift shop. Whether you’re a first time customer or a regular......a wonderful experience awaits! Thank you Litsa for giving our friends such a great meal and Creta welcome!More

We stopped here for coffee while touring by car. Very quiet but lovely view from the outside patio. The coffee was excellent - me iced coffee and my wife cappuccino. Inside the taverna it is really old fashioned with some local produce for sale. Very...enjoyable visitMore
