Great position on the beach. Too much smoking at the tables, and although its supposed not to be allowed ts very hard to stop . Drum night was fun once but the food and drinks are more expensive. Food generally quite expensive here most of...the time and nothing exceptional , huge portions but not delicious. the young man that works here was exceptional in his service, but on the whole I felt that more could be done with this restaurant. Like most of Castara prices are equivalent to London, but without some of the finer touches. Bad : the Pizzas, they are not good but they are generously large.More
We were lucky that there was another couple who had booked a dinner at this lovely place. Make a reservation in advance if you are here in low season as we were. The place itself is a mustsee with such a special decorations. We ate...a lovely dinner and enjoyed all the vegetables there were. Also the fish and and shrimps tasted perfect! This is a must plave for a dinner if you stay a night or many nights in Castara!More
This was our favourite restaurant by far in Castara! We ate here whenever it was open. The food was so tasty and the fish caught just hours earlier and they do the most amazing lobster when they catch them! They make there own icecream and it was delicious,they...also do lovely cocktails. What we also loved about the Boat house was it's location right on the small beach, overlooking the bay with hardly a sound except the waves just lapping the shore.Lovely.More
this is a great alternative venue to eat and chill. Great very large pizzas and easily adapted for no cheese versions. Sharon is great fun. Plenty of stories We were out of season so opening times were limited
We had dinner at The Boat House once while staying in Castara. The food was lovely, we had some cocktails and location is great.
A very friendly Sharon works hard to juggle service. First meal (lunch) of chilli and coconut prawns was tasty. Beer was great. 2nd meal (dinner) was to a backdrop of her partner and friends on the lash (drowning out any hope of conversation) and apologies...from Sharon. Food served - no choice - was the oddest array of vegetables encoutered - deep fried cauliflower, baked beans, some green things, mashed potatoes topped with cheese - all luke warm. This was the worst £40 spent in Tobago - though the £30 on top for cocktails we didn't regret. I suspect this has been amazing in it's heyday, but it is now tatty round the edges, and in need of new energy and upkeep - loos in particular. Lastly, 'N' needs a month in hospitality school learning to serve with a smile and effort, rather than huffin and puffing that she has to get off her seat - worst example in Tobago The setting is AMAZING.More
Had two tasty meals here during our stay in Castara. Great beachside location, potent cocktails and tasty food. The Lion fish in Carib lager batter was excellent!
Great location on the water. Enjoyed dinner and drumming on a Thursday night. Fish was delicious along with the variety of vegetables. The cauliflower was amazing! Be prepared for lots of people smoking.
The Boathouse is a place where locals and visitors mingle in an informal and atmospheric environment right on the beach. I already had excellent meals here two years ago, this year again it was a great experience, with a special mention for the fish and...seafood: splendidly fresh, cooked exactly right, not overcooked, and with lots of interesting and sometimes original vegetable side dishes.More
We were staying in Heavenly Bay, so this was very convenient for us, and we ate here several times, including on drum night. It is in a beautiful beachside position. Apart from pizzas on Sunday, the food format is a choice of mains with a...generous array of sides, freshly cooked and tasty. It is also a lovely place to sit for a drink. Sharon, the owner, does much of the cooking, and is a kind and friendly host. I have a rather difficult dietary problem, and she was exceptionally helpful (and successful) in catering for it. As with many similar local restaurants, the service is on the laid- back side, but very friendly. We particularly enjoyed the Sunday pizzas, taking half home for supper- they are enormous, with a large choice of toppings.More
We went to eat on a Wednesday evening when they had drummers for after dinner entertainment, and it certainly was entertaining! The food was mixed – the batter had fallen of my battered squid! It was a busy evening and perhaps the quality of the...food suffered as a consequence. It might be better to forego the entertainment and chose a different time to visit.More
Havng staryed in Castara for 14 nights, we tried most of the local restaurants and this is by the far the best. Their food is freshly prepared and the menu is changed every day depending on what the kitchen has on a daily basis. The...staff are friendly, the service is good. Every Wednesday they have the Drum Night which is great fun and very popular. Highly recommended as somewhere to go and spend time.More
Don’t have far to move from the beach to quench your thirst here. The home made Lemon Drizzle & Carrot cake was lovely (different ones daily) & African Drum night worth seeing.
During our week in Castara, we ate here once on New Year's Eve. Naturally, the place was packed, so we had the good fortune to share our table with 5 young people on vacation from Trinidad, which gave us a chance to chat a bit...with them. The food was good; a relatively fixed menu for the evening where you chose the main and the rest was just included. We enjoyed the atmosphere very much, since the bar/restaurant is right on the beach. Service was very friendly, despite the crazy amount of people there. To top it off, a group of gentlemen played drums to close out the evening for us. It was phenomenal. Make sure you check which evening they play and book a table!More
