It was nice. Very filling. Fish was amazing. Waited a wee while to get a fresh drink. Once the food was ordered the waitress went in to cook so double order your drinks if your thirsty

Wow! We asked several locals where to eat at the Friday night Oistins Fish Fry and pretty much everyone recommended Uncle Georges and we now know why….the food is excellent! The trick is to get there early like 5:30pm early as the area is jam...packed with people and seats can be hard to get. A server will come to your shared table and tell you of the night’s offerings which were many to choose from. I chose the snapper dinner (whole grilled fish) my boyfriend the shrimp dinner. Both come with 5 sides, salad, coleslaw, rice, potato, mac & cheese. They also offer water, soda, beer & rum punch. We opted for the rum punch, a great choice as very tasty and not too sweet. You place your order and maybe 30 minutes or possibly more you will get your food. Drinks come out pretty quickly. The food is super fresh and prepared with a nice presentation. I’d say by 6:15 there was a long line to get in as every table (which there are quite a few) were taken. We were told by a cab driver that Oistins fish fry is open daily, but Friday night is the biggest attendance. Highly recommended!More

POOR experience tonight 13th Jan 2023. There was a price of $50BBD and up for snapper on the board, and I asked for a $50 snapper. When the waitress came to take the order she said it had been put up by the manager to...$55BBD, but not updated yet on the board. I thought this was strange but then when the bill came, she attempted to charge $65BBD saying the manager had charged this. I asked to speak to the manager because no update was given on the price increase when i asked for a set priced fish... the manager rightly said the price should be charged to the customer as it is on the board ($50BBD). The waitress STILL charged me $55BBD despite what was written in the book. This felt like a self-given tip... pity, as I would have tipped a larger amount without the strange behaviour. The sorrell was charged at $8BBD -I anticipate this was also incorrectly charged to me. Needless to say, I don't recommend this place, having had a previous fish fry at another establishment the week before. This experience left me with a poor taste in my mouth. I was NOT at all impressed, despite looking forward to this today. Also, this is a pity as clearly the manager had good customer service, as I'd expect from a business, but this wasn't followed through by the unhappy presenting woman (e.g. her expression) with a hair in a bun on the top of her head and tattoo on her arm. Hopefully this description can help to identify issues to resolve. I will recommend others go elsewhere, for this experience, plus the food portion just wasn't as much as I had in another location for a cheaper price. Disappointed, as I wanted to like it....More

Been to George's many times over the years and it was fabulous! However, sadly now the staff are spending nearly all their time taking large orders for serving to people at many tables. The result is that the long line of people queuing to order...now moves very slowly and on top of that when we did finally get served the sides were not those that we had ordered...More

So so good. Massive queues as it was Friday. Great atmosphere. Two people, two meals plus two bottles of water was 76 Barbados dollars which is about £30. The whole Oistins Fish Fry area on a Friday is heaving but a great atmosphere. Well worth...a visit.More

Fridays fish fry is not to be missed on a visit to Barbados . Of all the food outlets Uncle George’s is the absolute tops. Service, food, rum punch and atmosphere is top notch. It’s been 3 years since our last visit and the eatery...has definitely upped its game which was pretty amazing Pre Covid. Top tip / get there about 6ish if you’ve any hope for a table and if you have to wait believe me it is definitely worth the wait!!!More

Awful experience, waited over an hour for our order of 2 King fish and fry’s and one salmon and potatoes. We wanted to pay in US dollars but the waitress tried to scam us by charging $82 US for a meal and beers costing 78...Bajan dollars. Had to challenge her 5/6 times before she agreed she had got it wrong. Got a hollow apology which didn’t count for anything when she had to be chased for the change from our total bill.More

We arrived at 7pm got seated (party of 9) ordered food as it was highly recommended and beers. Beers replenished but waiting for food. Folks arrived after got fed and paid their bill still no food. During this time the waitress came out and said...shrimp has run out despite others being served it. Replaced with dolphin (maih maih) then that was now off. Then everyone ordered rice n peas and guess what that was now off. At 9:50 we said we are leaving if no food by 10 (2.50 hours after we ordered. Some only got potatoes and salad, no fish!!! We complained and told the waitress it was down to her forgetting us. Bloody shambles in the end after insisting the food cost was removed by the manageress despite saying the waitress had undercharged us for the red snappers as apparently they are charged at different sizes. The people who table we took over had been waiting over an hour to pay. Experience, yes a good one no!More

We visited Uncle Georges after multiple people recommended it to us. Arrived at 6:30 to avoid the crowds and ordered shortly after- we were one of the first tables in. We watched as other tables around us arrived, ordered, received their food, and left whilst...we were still waiting. We chased the waitress up just to ask how long we would have to wait, only for her to blame it on what we had ordered, despite never having mentioned that specific dish would take longer. We ended up waiting two and a half hours, with the first meal we received being the dish that was apparently taking so long, and the final meal being received half an hour after. Whilst the food was lovely, the waitress offered no apology for the meals being late, and simply gave excuse after excuse. When we requested to have a discount on the meal due to the time we waited, the waitress was reluctant but we were eventually given $20 off. Not much considering the overall bill, the length of time and the unapologetic staff. Incredibly disappointed.More

THE place to go in Oistins for a fish dinner. Excellent choice, in sight of where the fish are processed! The staff are so friendly, and the food is incredible. Uncle George’s is also loved by locals, so you know you’re getting good food at...a good price. I would particularly recommend the marlin and swordfish, or try the flying fish, grilled instead of the classic fried and extremely tasty!More

Great meal, I had the Marlin which was delicious. My wife had the shrimp but it was quite black and a bit burnt, but still tasted nice. Marlin was nearly half the price though and way better. 80 BBD for 2 meals and 2 drinks...wasn't bad though so would recommend.More

This was the best place we tried at the fish fry. Food was cooked to perfection and all the sides were made in house, which made it very flavourful. This family run shop cares about their food and customers. They don't serve liquor, but will...go next door and get what you want. We ended up going back to uncle georges, after trying Pat's place, in the same day. Well worth it!More

Having visited Uncle George’s on several occasions when we were last in Barbados in 2017 we were keen to come back. The food is still super fresh and tasty, the fish really is excellent. It was the busiest we had ever seen the market on...the Friday so there was a little bit of a wait for food but it was clear the staff were rushed off their feet. Nevertheless, the service was great and the two people who looked after us were very friendly and happy to help when we asked to move our table a little further into the hustle and bustle. I would recommend to anyone - if you’re planning a trip to the fish market definitely call in to Uncle George’s! A side note as I’ve seen a few other reviews mention or question safety etc - we have never felt unsafe when visiting Oistins/ the fish market on any day of the week. There was a police presence when we were there on the Friday too.More

They have a daily menu with prices and lobster is served. Very reasonably priced and the best tasting food we had in Oistins. We went more than 5 times!
